Hi, my name is Pedro Silva and I'm the new manager of Movistar Team. I was born in Lisbon, Portugal and I have 31 years old. I have been always a huge fan of cycling and I am finally fulfilling the dream of managing a pro-cycling team, and already the best one! I've been a fan of this team structure all my life and as soon as i found that previous manager Michael Schroder was fired, i candidated myself and couldn't believe i got an offer. Hope to have a long sucesseful journey in this team!
Goals
Top 3 Liège-Bastogne-Liège Win GC Pais Vasco Top 3 Amstel Gold Race Top 10 Paris-Roubaix Stage Win Giro d'Italia Top 5 Giro del Trentino
Roster Review: I think we have one of the strongest teams this year, we have an amazing amount of good climbers, punchers and sprinters. Nairo Quintana will be our leader in le Tour and will be Rui Costa's right arm in the Ardennes, Rui Costa will lead il Giro and the Ardennes as he has proven to be an amazing rider, Valverde will be Quintana's right arm in le Tour and will lead la Vuelta, Carlo Calzone is our number one sprint whise. Names like Sánchez, Flecha, Lobato, Duarte will be luxury domestiques with some chances to lead and the rest of the team will give a strong support to our leaders!

Huge start for Pedro Silva in the Movistar managment already fulfilling a goal... Win Vuelta al PaÃs Vasco.
The portuguese rider Rui Costa managed to pul out an excellent time-trial, that managed him to beat Uran and König in the final GC as well as a stage win.
The manager that was present for the first time in a race, somehow seems to have motivated the team and he's very proud of achieving that goal.
«I am very happy with Rui's performance in this race giving us an amazing sign that he's going to shine in the Ardennes (...) I can't think in a better start for my career»
Rui Costa also gave a small interview: Interviewer: Rui, what a time-trial you have done, did you expect to pull out an exibition like that? Rui Costa: Yes I always believed I could win the GC, I knew it was hard but I also knew that if I gave my best there was a nice change I could be sucesseful so I gave all i had and managed to pull a reallly satisfying win! Interviewer: You're here in preparation for the Ardennes. What is your goal for those 3 classics? Rui Costa: I believe I am capable of at least do top 10 in all the races, as I'm leading the team in them all, but my top goal is to achieve top 3 in Liège-Bastogne-Liège, which is also our sponsor goal. Interviewer: After The Ardennes you're having a few weeks of rest and then you'll come back to lead Movistar through Il Giro. What are your expectations? Rui Costa: I don't wan't to disapoint my team so I am riding for a place in the top 3 and a stage win, if I manage to do both I think I've had an amazing Giro. Interviewer: Finally, you're team as hired a new manager, Pedro Silva, that is also portuguese, do you think you'll have a better relashionship with him that with your previous manager and do you think he's able to level up the already high standarts of Movistar? Rui Costa: First of all, I never had problems with Michael Schröder, but is always nice to have a manager that speaks you language. I already have a team mate that did it but joining a manager to the crew is amazing, and I know he will be up for the challenge. Interviewer: Thank you very much for your time. Rui Costa: You're welcome.

Today Valverde shocked the cycling world announcing his calendar in the social media. This way he ends the especulation around him since the leaving of his former manager, using his 43 race days left to LBL, Tour and Vuelta.
Pedro Silva, when asked if he was surprised about the spanish rider decison, said "A rider doesn't just decide what he is going to do without planning it before with his DD so I am obviously not surprised with his choice becuase it was the solution I proposed. We had to send Valverde to lead a GT because of his renewal promess, and Quintana being our number 1 to le Tour he either came back in his decision or he'd abdicate the classic. As he sees Costa as a better rider that him at the moment he decided to do the 2 GT."
Let's see if Valverde's choice is the most correct, but he certainly seems conviced of it.

As expected, cobbles don't fit our team at all. Unfortunately the UCI gave us an almost impossible goal of top 10 in Roubaix.
The cobbled hell begun at Ronde van Vlaanderen with a race where no one saw our jersey. Our best rider was Juan Antonio Flecha who made 32nd closing almost 15 minutes behind the winner of the second monument of the season, Peter Sagan. Following RVV, was Brabantse Pijl where Flecha made an amazing 4th place. But then... it was Paris Roubaix. We were hoping for a miracle to enter the top 10 but unfortunatley it did not happend with Flecha being the best in 27th place more than 10 minutes away from Sagan, that seems unstoppable this season. Now the ardennaises classiques are coming when we hope to take Costa to the podium!
