Stage 1 Apeldoorn ITT 8.1 km
Stage 2 Arnhem - Nijmegen 180 km
Stage 3 Nijmegen - Arnhem 190 km
Then a rest day afterwards, so following the 2014 pattern of opening time trial, two flat stages and then a rest day before a transfer to the south of Italy. At least it's a prologue rather than another one of those stupid short TTTs.
edit: not sure if this what already known but giro youtube page posted about it today.
Netherlands is quite populat for these departs.
Meanwhile there are discussions and negotiations going about possible start of Giro 2017 in Prague, from where the peloton would took the route to Austria and Italy...that would be something, Prague would be great city for event like that. Then again, i am not a big fan of departs outside of actual countries that are in name of the race...

An interesting study by engineer Bert Blocken shows that a car following a rider has an impact on the speed as well. The rules say a car has to follow a rider at minimum 10 metres (for safety reasons), but this is often disregarded. Should the car follow at 5 metres instead, a rider could win 6 seconds in the 13,8 km Tour de France prologue on saturday.
The reason is the car takes away the underpressure behind the rider, and that underpressure is slowing down the rider. I don't know all the english terms in physics, so I'm going to leave the explanation at that
Still, an interesting study. Will be interesting to see if there will be a rule change by saturday.

I dont have a problem with the Tour starting in the NL, Belgium, Spain, Germany etc. and neither do I have a problem with Giro starting the Austria, Switzerland (you get the point by now), but it starting in NL, Denmark etc., it just feels wrong since its so far away and you have to put in a very early restday
I have faith. It's not the first time they are in this situation. With Saxo gone to Russia I think the strongest Danish team should be attractive to many sponsors locally.
Would love a sponsor that would allow them to pick up some of the Danes leaving Tinkoff at the end of the year.
