Roche was working for Contador, or whoever they intended as team leader. When you're working at the front of the peloton with 70 km to go, it's hard to stay fresh for the finale.
Quintana simply seems to lack the experience.
Quintana has been sick ( stomach bug ), that's mainly it actually.

If Andy wins the Tour I will be shocked. Still if he can perform well on Mont Ventoux and Alpe D' Huez he might do it. |

I think the route of this year's Tour is ideal for non-timetrialists like Schleck, so yeah, things are looking pretty well for him now, he finished a few tough races lately.

Oh, I was wondering about Kwiatkowski too, but it has simply been too long. We were seeing him surprising everyone hanging with the best in T-A, mid March, excellent on the cobbles. He had to pay for that.
It's not too long to make a top 5 on both the other main Ardennes classics but it's too long for LBL 4 days later?

It's not a loss of fitness, but a bad day I'd say. Everyone has them at some points in their careers. Still he did amazingly well in the last two. Well above any expectations easily.

Oh yes. But in my opinion Contador remains the odds on favorite. Yes there are less timetrials but if Contador can keep with Andy in the Mountains Schleck loses the Tour. |

And if Froome can keep with Contador, which he will, Contador loses the tour. |

Haha people still thinking Contador can win the Tour
Face it, he's the wrong side of 30 and past it.

Why not? Those results mean digging deeper, which adds up. I might be wrong, and we don't know every single thing that happened to him today, but it makes some sense. Nevertheless, he has a first part of the season to be proud of. |

Only Froome is really ahead of him, so he can win the Tour. Not the top favourite though.

I find it funnier that people still think that Andy is capable of winning the Tour. He couldn't do it in 2009 and 2010, when he was a better rider, so I no way that could happen now - especially considering his last two seasons.
Not to mention that he now has to fight Froome as well.
EDIT: Okay, technically he did win the Tour in 2010, but I don't count that one. It's blank, as far as I'm concerned.
