Great work there it's a really interesting visualisation which throws up some interesting things - surprised especially to see that there are more than twice as many French and Italians as Spaniards for instance.

Awesome to see Belgium as one of the biggest countries for once
If we'd make one for cyclo-cross, Belgium would be just huge
USA is bigger and France is equal, but in real size or population comparisons, Belgium is huge. What surprises me is this size of Japan though.
But I don't think anyone would waste their time making it, using every cyclist who has scored at least 1 point (in UCI rankings or maybe the world cup)

Yeah, I know that it isn't very good, but it's pretty hard to put together (makes me even more amazed by what fosforgasXIII did) and I just put it together to compare it to the road cyclists, not really for quality.
It's kind of interesting anyway, 75 from USA while it is one of 6 countries outside Europe, the European countries are about the expected size, although Spain and Portugal are a little bigger than I expected. Japan is the strangest one, I never new there were so many Japanese cyclo-cross riders, yet it is the only Asian country.

A couple of links, neither of them really 'news' as such but nevertheless interesting things:
Firstly an interesting BBC interview with the one and only Oleg Tinkov:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/...g/30632423
While he is completely crackers, he does talk some sense and actually seems to have a vision of cycling's future, something that is not possessed by many in the upper echelons of the sport.
Secondly an update on the latest rumours for next year's Vuelta route (was published a few days ago but only just spotted it on twitter):
https://www.dorsal51.com/?p=19458
We already know that all the summit finishes (9 or 10 of them, can't remember) are new and previously unseen in the Vuelta before, and the stage in Andorra is rumoured to be a multi-mountain stage with >4000m of climbing. The last mountain stage could be a descent finish after passing through those mountains near Madrid (Navacerrada etc), so all in all shaping up to be a little interesting (already better than the Tour route )

Well Tinkoff-Saxo began existing in 2012 so Tinkoff Credit Systems.
Btw. Tinkoff is not a nice person at all. He' s fans will run away inside next year and will hate that guy. He wants to be general manager..but he has non talent for that.
Dress Saxo team as russian army with flags etc. That is not even funny anymore.
People who think that cycling needs Tinkof type guys are wrong..yeaah maybe he's type. But Oleg himself is dangerous and will cheat when moment comes for sure. |
