@All: Please consider this:
1. Is the size/color really needed to transport the information
Never forget that the information is more important than the look.
Put a link to your graphical thread instead if you believe you are a artist.
2. For whom is the information in the signature important
2.a) Important for me (achievements / man-game / story / twitter / facebook)
Use the banners provided or if there are no banners, follow the style of other users to make it consistent.
2.b) Important for me (quotes / funny / other)
Reduce annoyance factor as much as possible.
Why should the signature be more obvious than your actual post.
2.c) Important for other users
Do others even understand that it is addressed at them?
Is all important information given? |

The Lance part could go, because its not "might have" anymore, he did do it, he admitted to it..
I understand why he would want to keep it though.

The point of the saying was not that he only might have, but the exact opposite.

Point is, we all know now what you think about Lance and Alberto, BB, no need to look at it every day, this is like being in kindergarten, especially with bold text, like you need to put pressure on us to read it.
Should i make a new signature saying "Sagan is the best cycllist and will kick your asses whole season"? While it is completly true , it would only annoy others i think.
And last thing is, when you read some page with some of your signatures boys, it is hard to recognize where the actual text is and 60% of the whole page are the signatures in the end, not the text ( and as Lachi said, content should be more important than form also ).

Only the first sentence is "targeted" on you and that is because you defended it here, so i used it as example. Rest is mean generally.

Explains why mine disappeared! Not that I could be bothered putting it back, nor do I really care to be honest. There are some really good looking signatures floating around here, and then there are some that look really cluttered and are just annoying to see. Oh well! |

What's the feeling on mine, too much? on the edge?
I tend to use it as an advertisement for my stories, though i'm aware the Vogel banner is quite large

There's no problem with that. As you long as you do it like this:
My story - click here!
Or with one of those small banners:
(pretend it's a story one )
But there is a problem to advertise your stories with something like this:
Radioshack - Leopard story! Click the Picture!

Point made, Lluuiiggii
Signatures should be more about text, less about banners etc (except, of course, the Awards-banners ) |

Somehow I have less problems with the big "Shy VOGEL" image than with the 4 bars of TMM. But if the VOGEL images would become smaller and if TMM would remove some of the colors and/or text from his bars, it would be best.
But I have another suggestion also. You could keep your signatures if you don't attach it to every post. How to do it? Click on REPLY, then untick "Show My Signature in this Post". |

Admins and mods here generally do a good job in keeping the forum clean of cluttered topics. A good example is the Cycling forum where redundant topics get locked.
I think this policy should extend to topics, and for me that means removing cluttered signatures. I think it's fair to only allow small banners of the size luiggii posted on, and disallow everything else. Maybe a maximum of 3 of those banners per signature. Everyone is able to make these kinds of banners, so why not make them for your stories?
Same for text, 3 lines is more than enough. |

My main problem is as Crue has posted on the first page - most of the posts are shorter than the signatures, so reading through pages becomes a game of spot the post.
As lachi says - surely the best way to do it is not have signatures showing in every one of the however many tens/hundreds/thousands of posts that have been made. |

I've shortened my sig a little bit too, as I agree with the point of this thread.
My award banners now link to the respective areas.

Hope my signature isn't too much. Just too damn proud of those awards to delete them from my signature |

To be honest, a lot of these banners cluttered together looks ridiculous and is in fact much more difficult to read than a couple of lines of text. |
