Thank you for getting the race rolling, Abhi!
Anonymous racing from both Valter and Novak, which is fair on such a stage when 170 riders come home in the same time. It also felt like the AI couldn't really decide whether it was a stage for Novak or Valter. Hopefully it gets figured out on the next two stages, as I would rather have one of them placing very well instead of having both between 10th and 15th.
A very cool duel up front, eventhough they should expect company from Herklotz very soon, I guess |

Nice stage for us! Aranburu was alert and even snagged the last time bonus! If the ensuing stages end up being less selective, that could be huge to avoid finishing in the "same time" pack. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. The good news is that the AI is at least keeping Aranburu near the front and thinks of him as a contender.

A home race for us, but the expectations are very low. Anonymous first stage, but at least we didn't lose any time ???? Hopefully we can see some break attempts and guys higher up than 90th place the next stages.

Decent start for us, even though I was obviously hoping for more than 17th for Schmid. But a Top 20 isn't awful in this field. Just not great that there weren't any gaps at all, with 150 riders or so still (in theory) fighting for the win.
Good to see Rohendi and Errazkin attentive, too, hopefully they can convert this into some kind of depth result.
Congrats to knockout on a great win, certainly good news for MAL to (surprisingly) have a little buffer over Herklotz
Thanks for the report.

Another very good stage for us. Herklotz winning, Areruya completing the podium makes this race wide open but a 2nd place on s.t. should be enough for Lopez in either case. Fingers crossed

Ah, worse stage for Higuita, team not active at all and in the end no real sign of Higuita scoring. Just outside the seconds is not ideal, but still fifth in GC is nice of course. Good to see Lopez and Areruya continuing their good streak.
Thanks for the great report, Abhishek!

Better from Formolo today, but the rest of the team seems very much focused on helping him rather than get a good result for themselves as well.
Frigo in the KoM jersey for another day is a very welcomed surprise.

Another big sprint, and the class at the very front is massive. Congratulations, cio!
For us, we really need the final stage to be selective, and Valter and Novak to kind of wake up, as this was another sort of no show. We're lucky it hasn't given any time losses except for the bonus seconds. |

Aranburu had good positioning for the finale, but the short sprint is not his strength given his low acceleration, and he misses out on the time bonuses.
Not a huge issue though as he already snagged one, so he stays 10th overall. Ideal is for Aranburu to do well on stage 3, but next best thing would be if he stays in the front group and the top 10 looks similar to do again. As long as guys already above him snag most of the time bonuses, he can maintain a solid GC position ahead of the big pack.

Not good enough from Gidich yet. I hope he can improve on his performance in the last stage and at least challenge for the podium. Thanks for the reports so far! |

Good to see Mauro finally having a good day again, it's been a long time since! 7th place and 2 bonus seconds is great, and that bonus could be crucial in the end. But first, he'll need to keep up with the top class riders one more time, hopefully he's got enough left in the tank!
Congrats to cio, Herklotz definitely back in the business right now.
Thanks for the report.

After reading the preview I didn't think I was racing, and after reading the reports I still didn't!
Given this was one of Romo's chances of leadership I'm disappointed that he's been so anonymous and the race favours the stronger climbers. The only good thing about this race was that I didn't waste Yates by racing him here!

Massive underperformance by Higuita, throwing away valuable points again. The team leader underperforming with depth guys not really getting many depth points is the story of our season, and doesn't seem to end for now. Hopefully sometime soon it does turn around, because if we even score bad in bigger scoring opportunities like this race, the only way is back down to PCT.
Congratulations jandal on a big win, thank you Abhishek for very fine reports as always.

Oh, cool.
Guess I should have factored in the possibility of Aranburu losing 7 minutes for literally no reason at all and my team ending up with no one in the top 95 riders. How stupid of me.

Good depth bringing home 6th and 10th in the GC. That was more than what we could hope for after the first two stages. Valter looked strong, but faded at the very end in the sprint. Good he still managed to hang on to the group. Novak sprinted very well to also give us a surprisingly good GC, I’d say.
Congratulations, jandal! |

Damn, worst time to lose some ground. Also not 100% convinced that the time gap was bigger than on stage 1 where no gaps were awarded but i think that was only the difference between 3rd and 2nd anyway...

Damn. Total meltdown from Formolo after the team push so hard which also ruined the GC for anyone else in our team. Not sure why we were setting the pace when Formolo was not among the top top favorites and wasn't having a great day either.
Thanks for the reports!

Good stage and GC result by Amezawa, not so good by Ardila. But all in all, not a bad race.

Good to get some splits. Got my hopes up with the initial break, but that was short lived. Quite decent GC by Cort in the end and some KoM points. Gaudu awful though. Not a race where we expected much, so can't really be very unhappy.
Thanks for the reports
