Thanks for the report, Nemo, and congrats to Oleg for the win! But where did Oliveira come from? I was already disappointed after a no show in the break and wasn't expecting him to even contesting the sprint, but this way our sponsors will clearly be happy nonetheless with only a single mention in the entire report

A single bonus second is no reason to celebrate but could end up mattering with two hilly stages to decide the race.

Walls faded hard and Aranburu was well out of position for his own charge. Looks like we're headed towards another empty race.

Hum... Groves in 6th place is somewhat better than I expected after his horrible MSR. But when taking 2nd place last year, it's still a massive step in the wrong way - in a finish that perfectly suits him. Finishing behind Grosu can be expected, but being beaten by the 4 others shouldn't necessarily happen and is typical for Kaden's season.
We'll see how the hilly rated stages unfold, I guess tomorrow is Pidcock day again with that finish after the downhill.
Tinkoff really seem to like this stage, though, winning it with Samolenkov last year and now with Banaszek. Congrats!
Thanks for the report.

More disappointment from Kemboi? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you!
Good to see De Bie being attentive at least. Suspect the bonus seconds won't work in his favour, but may at least mean he makes any splits in the next two stages. |

Looked like pretty poor sprint from Peak, to be honest, as if he was neither strong nor fast enough, seeing him fade towards the end, eventhough it didn't look like he spent a lot of energy previously.
Happy to see Valter safely through, should make him our obvious GC card, at least, if Kragh doesn't decide he wants a go at it too. I definitely hope he does, making us play two cards for the GC!
Thank you for the report, Abhi. |

Ahhh Nick, the one thing not to do on that finish is fire off early. Nicely done by Mohoric to grab some bonus seconds already though!

And this is where i'm starting to worry - the stage wasnt selective enough and Lopez missing out on bonus seconds is a critical issue. So now we are looking at damage limitation for the final stage.
Only positive is that the majority of our depth riders stayed on s.t. as well.

Thank you for the report, Abhi!
Very worrying to not see Valter mentioned once, both due to passive racing and bad positioning. Looks like he didn’t have priority by the AI there, which is also worrying for the Ardennes to come. Fingers crossed he can turn it around on the final stage, as his sprint abilities also really should make him well capable of getting bonus seconds in such group sprints. |

Poor result from Grosu in a stage that should have favored him. Guess he spent too much time at the front during the attacks. Don't have a great feeling for the final stage, but we'll see.

Yates delivers a win which is very good to see. I was nervous due to him being completely out of position in the first stage and finishing as low as 17th??!? Because of that we don't have the race lead but hopefully that doesn't hurt us going into the last stage as this race is tailor made for a guy like him.

To be honest, i really thought Aranburu's training would at least reduce the instances where he is so unfavored that my entire team including him sits at the back of the peloton all day and doesn't even contest the stage. Unfortunately, that seems to have been an incorrect prediction, as these stages actually seem significantly more common compared to last year thus far.
Nothing to be done about it now I guess.

Good to see the improvement in stage 2. The final stage is the important one for Gidich to make a difference. |

Good ride from De Bie, if he could do the same on stage 3 a good GC may be achievable. Choosing to see the positive in Kemboi doing badly - no risk of PCM getting confused who the leader is, surely? |

Finally, our first sprint podium! If I counted correctly, it took us 18 flat (or hilly with a sprint finish) stages to get there, which is quite a lot considering some other sprinters (or not, compared to e.g. Cullaigh) - but still, we're finally there!
And I guess it was a pretty important one, with Groves also claiming yellow and green with this 2nd place. I have no clue what that will mean for the final stage, but if I compare it to some Tirreno stages where Groves made the front group, it doesn't look harder. With the jersey bonus, he'll hopefully finish high up again.
Repeating last year's GC win is unlikely given the route change, and I definitely agree with ryan that Yates is just the perfect rider for this kind of race. Congrats on the stage win, by the way!
One lesson learnt in this early season is that it makes absolutely no sense to send Schmid and Groves to the same race, with the former being completely useless both in MSR and now here (unless he does something cool tomorrow); the good thing is it won't happen again this season.
The main target for tomorrow is obviously to get as good a result as possible with Groves, while also trying to get some depth with Schmid and maybe Rohendi or Theuns. As for now, the race could still end up being a big disappointment, or it could be a fantastic one. I'll obviously hope for the latter
Thanks for the report!

Great stage win on the final day, which moves Mauri into 3rd GC. While it is unfortunate that it`s s.t. with 2nd and just 3s down to a sprinter, it`s very fair I`d say and another solid result for the team.
Pidcock is crazy, going for all intermediate sprints, then following the fast sprinter train and still going 2nd in the sprint. Had the numbers not in mind but expected him to be easily in GC lead with it, so a bit surprised he was +8 and 5th only. Still another huge performance here.
Groves is brilliant. One of the perfect riders for this race and he delivered on the hilly stages more than on the flat stage, which comes handy after his MSR performance. Big win for Jura and nice to see the promoted teams taking another race.
Same for Grosu in 4th, which is pretty solid for him on that profiles. Even more surprised that riders such as Van der Lijke in especially couldn`t follow, maybe here some team issues with Mohoric as main leader? Hard to say.
All those double leader ships (Rabobank, Lidl, EA, Jura or even Oxxo) worked out for one rider but has another one quite below the potential. Not that my co-leaders could have done anything here as far from the quality but so far with how Vansevenant performs, I am happy to have decided against any other decent sprinter such as Bauhaus or De Kleijn in any Vansevenant hill race.
Thanks for the steady reports and congrats Fabianski. |

Good KoM hunting by Abrahamsen. Salvages something at least, in a race where our puncheurs have struggled to play a part.
Another good win for Fastned to finish it off. On a roll. Congrats also to Jura and Groves for holding on. Thanks for all the reports!

In the end it was a nothing race for us, as I kind of expected.
Congrats to Fab on the win. PT racing is easy, eh?
Thanks for the reports

Stage 3 turned out to be the selective stage we needed, but sadly Malecki and Peters failed to remain near the front. We hardly score any points here.
Congrats Fabianski!

Graves really loves this race. Congrats, Fabianski!
A couple of podiums and 4th in the GC is a pretty good result for Grosu in such a hectic race.
Nice to see that we got the teams rankings even though we did not put anyone else in the top 20.
Thanks for the reports!
