Hmm, a bit strange this, really...
When I saw the sprint, I though - OK, this looks good. Koretzky with 1,3km to go, Farantakis still going strong with 800m - but then Coquard decides to jump. Damn you - looking at the 600m photo, why didn't you keep Farantakis' wheel for another 150-200 meters and attack the sprint from 5th position instead of taking it from the front?
And ofcourse. 5th! Bah!
But then to my surprise, I see him taking the leaders jersey aswell as the points jersey. Did not see that coming. Would obviously have liked the stagewin, but this is a very nice bonus - and it will be very interesting to see if we can somehow keep him close to the front when we have a lead to defend. I don't think so - but who knows if he can survive to take a solid GC.

Mohoric with a great base for a good GC here. Fingers crossed he picks the right attack(s) on the final stage. If he does, a GC top 5 could be within reach, also coming down to who takes the bonus seconds on offer, which are massive. |

Does Van Poppel not want to lead out Grosu? Did I destroy the harmony in the team by putting them together? I have no idea what's going on.

YES! YES YES YES! This was amazing!
I had my heart pumping all the way through the report, only waiting to see Coquard getting dropped! I must admit I thought it would go to absolut shit when Koretzky was dropped, despite having to work at the front, which normally should give him some benefits in terms of splits. But to see Coquard follow the attack there was the key moment for me. I still saw him losing some time and positions, but the attack gave him atleast a very good shot at keeping close enough to the front to stay high in the GC.
To see him take 2nd on the stage, winning the GC and the points jersey is a MASSIVE result!
If I'm not mistaken we saw something very similar from Manninen in a PCT race last season or 2 ago, which made me have some pre-race hopes that he could copy that. I did spend a lot of time looking at his stat combination to see whether or not it would be worth it to invest Farantakis and Kortsidakis here with Coquard or if I should give Coquard a different plan altogether, but we ended up with this - I just love when it pays off!
Sorry to those who missed out - and a huge thanks for the report. I was definately on my toes today! :-)

Congratulations, SotD. What a result and race by Coquard!
Mohoric was a bit unlucky, I feel, there, as he came away with no bonus seconds after having been in the group that at one point seemed to run away with the stage. Thus, he even drops in the GC, which is a surprise on that stage.
Good to see Kragh be up there in the front group, and thus give us a minor GC placing too. Unfortunate that Wisniowski didn't seem to bother, as it could have been a good day for him too when it proved to be that for Kragh. |

TV time for my team?!
Sorry for any of the points we stole and thanks to Abhi for the reports.

Wilco showed some great stuff by following the 'right' attacking group and even trying to go solo close to the finish line. Think he had a really good day. On a harder parcours he might have stayed ahead. Although 12th in GC doesn't seem too great and doesn't net a lot of points, I think it's still decent and above all it's great to see him active! Congratulations to SotD and a very nice race win

Always weird to see sprinters high in the GC battling it out against top puncheurs while several riders, who should be stronger than the sprinters are dropped.
Wonder if De Bie could have top5-10 here, must admit I didn`t expect this to become such difficult and instead did send Groenewegen only.
Later though did fine. He was struggling on day 1 but tried, pretty awful on the final stage but as long as you win the 2nd and only real sprint stage then, it`s all fine for me.
Couldn`t have hoped for any more really.
Thanks for the reports and congrats SotD. |

Had hoped stage 3 to become a battle of the puncheurs, but those boosted sprinters did a great job.
Considering the circumstances Lutsenko did ok here. His season will fully depend on the hilly classics now, because his point total from other races will be mediocre at best.

Ringheim saving our race somewhat by his days in the KoM-jersey, but overall a poor race for us. Need to do better!

Not too happy with Lopez' performance here but it's also no desaster, Having Lopez be the one to chase back the puncheurs attack for the sprinters instead of joining the attack is the total opposite of what i want to see and surely not the ideal tactic.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!
