Too bad Ganna didn't care about trying to get into white.
Time for the decisive TT!
I'm excited to see if Sütterlin can bounce back from the bad prologue and continue his streak of good results here, and whether Ganna can bring the fight to Wirtgen. On a great day, he has a shot!

Finally after a while a decent result from my home race. Nice podium finish from Bertilsson.

At first I was quite disappointed when Würtz came in behind Sütterlin, but luckily it was Sütterlin having a great day that caused that. 3rd on the stage and up to 2nd in GC is a good result for us. Would have hoped for a bit better from a rider like Korsaeth, but to get the result we wanted with Würtz is of course the most important.
Dominant from Phinney again. Congrats Croatia.

The first reasonable TT result for Vlatos this season. If he can keep up in the final stage, then it will end up being the race we came here for - Otherwise not really...
Sprint finish is always open for gambling, so whether or not Coquard can land something is beyond anyone. A stagewin would be worth 64 points probably so it's definately worth looking into. 20 points scored so far leaves us far behind the expected at this point, but it's still possible to recover and make a decent/good outing.
I'm not overly optimistic though as both Coquard and particularly Vlatos have more often dissapointed me than not.

4th place is a job very well done by Wirtgen. As ever, a relief to make it through the TT happy!

Oof that was poor from Leung, not even in the top 50 GC now. He had a good run though, so it's not too bad. At least Mano kind of saves the day with his 17th and 2nd in U25 classification! |

Perfect time for 2/3 to have a good day in a long TT.
Two top10 and Sergent in 20th is really solid. |

Not a good day by Taaramae so I'm left hoping for a break appearance / KoM hunt on the final day.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Another good race in the bank! Phinney was always going to be very tough to beat, so to be best of the rest is a good feeling.
Congrats to ISA on the final stage win here. Stunning finish from Degenkolb and a well deserved points jersey.
Thanks for the reports, Nemolito! A pity about the storm, but I guess the riders didn't mind some warmer temperatures

Coquard messed up big time. He may have been shut down, but there was plenty of room and time to get a better result than 10th here.
Luckily for him (and us) Vila secured 20 points from the KOM which is pretty much what se would have expected from Coquard and Vlatos for once put two good stages in combination to finish 6th in the GC and this making this race a succes for us. Very nice to see him on the receiving end for once, although on paper 6th isn’t even that impressive.
All in all a decent race, and congrats to Phinney for another massive points haul. He’s always halfways towards what I expect Lecuisinier to end on. Well done!

Van Poppel looked to be in a very good position to get a good result so a bit disappointed to see him fading to 9th.

Really nothing race for us but obviously wasn't expecting anything more - Schomber dissapointed a bit on stage one but apart from that only dissapointed we didn't manage to join breakaways. Thanks for the reports Nemo
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Disappointing to not get the correct stage, a big factor jn Van der Lijke riding here, plus the peril it brings to the GC game. Even if that did make it easier for Jungels and Pelikan to secure good minor GC positions.
A third GC Top 4 of the season is great for Wirtgen though, very much leading the way for the team.

The stage from the preview simply didn't work. Always had the same problem of a breakaway rider going 20km/h from the start until finish with the peloton going the same pace, finishing one minute behind without sprinting for second place. I spent some time to find a stage similar to that one and was quite happy with S2 from Catalunya. Less than 10km apart and similar climbing/elevation. Peril evaded imo.

A bugged stage export then, if the AI was broken all stage? As opposed to just the PCM20 AI joining the PCM18 AI in making this a breakaway favouring stage. Perhaps the stage can just be re exported then, to see if it can work out in future. Thanks for sharing a bit more about the problem with it.
With climbing more focused in the 2nd quarter in the alternative, rather than throughout the stage, I'd anticipate it made life easier for the weaker hill riders, so yes, peril evaded for them. A fairer GC outcome than the last two seasons anyway.

Have to be a lot happy with the race - Kukrle and Turek are keeping home some decent points together with decent sprint finish from Bertilsson. Could not really wish for much more from my depth riders - finally a decent race home after a few years!
Thanks for the reports Nemolito!

A great day he had indeed!
And what a team performance overall, with Ganna's disappointing ride well covered by Politt overperforming to add an 11th place to our GC podium, and Lennard continung his fairytale season by achieving the projected U25 podium in his stead with a fantastic ride to 22nd place! I couldn't be happier about how his stint at the team is turning out.
All that combined even nets us the teams classification win, and Stüssi&Cavagna add even more GC points in the Top 50.
I think we might have scored nearly 350 points here which is an insane continuation of the successful last month and - while I'm still far from proclaiming any title hopes - sets us up nicely for another podium hunt.
Phinney obviously dominated this again, congrats Croatia! As unsurprising as it is, it's still impressive to watch. And Würtz definitely deserved to take second overall so there's no hard feelings there, well done Grieg!
Once again thank you Nemolito for your efforts and great report quality.
Too bad we had to amend the route, although that certainly suited us. I hope nobody's been too bothered by it, besides EA who rightfully lament the disadvantage for vdLijke.

Good race by Goldstein and Dal Col, but our Russian TT specialists (Yatsevich, Zakarin and especially Vorobev) were quite disappointing this race. Stage 2 from Catalunya as a replacement was the right choice Nemolito, good job!
