Yes
This is a perfect start of the race for me
Good to see that the CB stat seemed to be the most important one indeed.
Looking at the current standing it seems possible to ride the Trouée d'Arenberg section in the leader jersey as none of the top 5 Pokerstars (congrats beagle!) guys is a good puncheur. And that would be frickin awesome.
It's good to know to have a minute on Coppel and Boom already. Should the pace on the cobbled stage turn out to be rather low then every second counts against them although i hope that my team will not let that happen..
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Congratulations, beagle! That win could prove very valuable in the fight against relegation, especially if any of the five riders can cope with the hills.
Very happy with that performance, less than a minute behind the winner was at least one minute better than feared. A pity Dyrnes had no chance to follow, but on the other hand it could give him a free hand on the hilly stages, as he's now definitely out of any GC mix, even if the peloton go super slow on the cobbles. That again means the hilly stage 3 should be all about defending Kristoff, but we shall see.
Thank you for the report, trekbmc! |

Happy with that performance. Even more happy with our top five riders. With both Rowe and Meyer dropping behind, it should mean that Trentin, Wisniowski and Juul-Jensen won't have their GC chances obstructed by them. Really excited to see how the next stages unfolds.

Wow, what a weird result. COB attribute > TT attribute. Howard and Vesely both with a really crazy gap. 6th place totally unexpected.

Van Avermaet and Vanspeybrouck must be very happy with this TTT result, + 1'00 for Gusev is good enough I guess. Will be interesting to see if Pokerstars.com will take control of the race the coming days (instead of Evonik - ELKO/BPost-Vlaanderen).

Was honestly hoping for quite a bit more in the TTT. Sure, my setup is far from perfect but it has a decent mix of cobblers and time trialists.
Boom, Frison, Vandewalle for the TTT
Boom, Nooytens, Bovenhuis for the cobbles.
Having ~1min now makes it hard for Boom. I think in recent years he started inside the top10 and hence was doing more to defend his position. Not sure how PCM handles his situation now.
Anything out of top10 here is an absolute waste...normally outside of top5 even. |

Wow, we dodged a massive bullet there. No idea why Blythe wasn't positioned well enough.
Are we really going all-in for Kelderman? Or even worse, were those little hills too much already?
And fyi it's not strange at all that Degenkolb took the leaders jersey, that's what happens with s.t. riders.

Interesting to see Kristoff fight for the points jersey. Unfortunately it seemed like it took some needed energy from him for the final sprint, which he looked to mis-time as well. Seemed like a nice leadout from Feillu, but hopefully Kristoff decides to launch earlier on the next occasion.
Nervous for the hilly stage and how AI will handle Kristoff there. I definitely fear the worst, and if he looses considerable time, we'll be out of any GC top 20 battle. Fingers crossed!

I'm so annoyed that the second group was awarded same time. That would have been a huge unexpected bonus for Evonik and would have been so damn helpful to achieve the sponsor goal (win). I'm happy with GVA though.
Next up : the hill stage where GVA needs to gain some ground on other cobblers like Vanspeybrouck and in the perfect race claims the leader jersey so that we will go all in on the cobble stage.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

That unawarded gap is likely to cost us several points here. We had our leaders positioned in the first group.

Same here Gusev needed that "bonus time" as well after the ttt, still there're enough opportunities left to gain or loose time!

For Becherovka too! With the exception of Stybar all my riders were in that first group, would be a really nice help for all my cobble riders to do a decent result overall in this race.
Decent top 10 results for both Howad and Vesely in this competition here.
Thanks for the report.

Terrible TTT but Houle so well placed on the first stage wished for a gap but hopefully he can keep going on the next stages |

Not a great TTT but at least Kwiatkowski kept out of trouble. Hopefully he can start making moves up the GC on the hills |

Not sure I can be happy about this. There couldn't have been a better position for Kelderman, yet he couldn't use the slipstream and even faded to third.
Blythe losing a minute is okay, although I would've liked to see everyone on s.t. considering the second best scenario of huge gaps for the puncheurs didn't play out.
I hope we take responsibility tomorrow like we did today, keeping Blythe out of trouble and maybe allowing Kelderman to hang on a little bit longer than he should.
Blythe is the worst placed of the great cobblers, so maybe that makes him race a bit more aggressive. We need to distance all the punchy cobblers like David, Sinkeldam etc by quite a bit.

Wow, very happy with Kristoff there, just hanging on to the front group. Stage 7 looks way too hard for him GC wise, but he lives to die another day, and I couldn't have asked for more considering the profile of stage 3. Just really hope he and the cobbles decide to be aggressive on the cobbles, and not do a super passive race like has been the case before.
Also nice to see Lunke try to escape in an early breakaway, hopefully a good sign for what's to come, fingers crossed we'll continue to attack and put riders in the early moves of the day.
Congratulations, CrueTrue! Kind of an unusual winner at PT level, but great to see that it's possible for such riders as well. |

7th for Coppel is obviously a good result, but like many orhers, I would have liked to see some Big gaps before the cobbled stage, so we had some leeway. Tom David also performed pretty well here, so everyting crossed for him to get a good cobble result. A stage top 10 is the goal.

4 riders in the front group and all of them decent cobblers too. I say this was quite a good stage.
