Great coverage indeed for it to be a flat stage! I love myself a close sprint and hopefully there's going to be more like this one throughout, the thrill of watching the photofinish to be sure is always cool
Congrats Crommy!

Well better then Fat Gez horror show from last year - stil a bit shitty but oh well.
Lovely report though very nice start to the race in that regard.
Crummy gets a win through Roelants he is a bit of a Vuelta stage bagger I believe.

Dissapointing sprint by Coquard, with Haller no where to be seen.
Finally we join the BotD, and then it's on a stage with absolutely nothing on offer. I have to cross fingers that it means that Gougeard will jump in to breaks, though. Slightly bumpy long range attacks should definately suit him.

Just like the Giro d'Italia we have a very good stage hunter/breakaway/KoM team, it didn't work out in Italy but this time we hope (startlist of Vuelta looks stronger) that Kolesnikov won't be fighting for a top-10; giving the team more space for adventurous riding. Goodluck to all the teams and managers and big thanks to roturn for taking a GT!

The first week is all about avoiding crashes and reserving energy for us, so we probably just sit back and enjoy the show, nice first report/stage to kick off with and congratulations Crommy with stage win and leader's jersey!

Wow, two days off the site and we are already stage deep into La Vuelta, what a nice pace. Thanks roturn for taking the coverage and for the fantastic preview you put together.
Metinvest as a team and our well known leader have maybe the biggest GT challenge ahead. Fourth and last GT for Aleksandr in our colours, can he make it 4/4?
We feel the pressure of tough balanced route and good riders as opponents, like Alarcon, Tenorio, Gesink or wildcards Machado-Urán. Pluchkin is still the favourie though, personally we identified Tenorio is the biggest threat.
Good luck to all and congrats Crommy for the first stage win. Pluchin 12th there is great outlook and already nice point haul for the possible points jersey fight.

Sorry for the late arrival. We're thrilled to take part in this awesome race, it should be fun to see Machado up in the mountains with all the grown ups. I'm not hoping for a top performance, but for our boys to proudly show our colours.
Two nice sprint stages so far, but tomorrow is the first GC showdown. It should be interesting.
Thanks for the impecable pace roturn

Congratss Smowzy, finally a good sprint from Manxman.
Tommorow first big stage for GC...we have to stay close to Gesink and Tenorio, crush Alarcon and distance Machado too.

We have no GC rider here and no sprinter. Did bring Ginanni though, because of the relatively high number of hilly stages. Would be cool if that works out.
In the other stages we'll have to hope for breakaway success.

Awesome Tremendous recovery from Cav and the sprint train actually worked really fun to see Chen set it up nicely for Cav.
Very satisfied with that - after multiple Giro stage wins with best climber in the world to grab a Vuelta stage is really nice.

We've brought our breakaway squad here, so let's hope for at least one stage win from the likes of Seibeb, Venter or Kebede. Otherwise a top-15 GC would be an achievement for Kudus before he maxes.
Nothing on the first two flat days as expected. |

Good to see Gesink staying out of trouble so far.
Perhaps I shouldn't have been so focus on building a team for him and send Van Poppel here as well. I think he would have done well

Congratulations Smowz, an important ITT for the GC now, I hope Gesink takes the lead, also Control team leading in the team rankings!

Congratulations, Smowz! Cavendish already making the Vuelta visit worth it, compared to Guarnieri, who needs to do better.
Very, very happy with Holst Enger. He found the perfect wheel and train, but I must admit I'm both happy and slightly surprised to see him actually challenge Cavendish head to head. Will be interesting to see after the TT if he can keep up over the hills and contest the sprint there, if that's what it comes down to.
Looking forward to the TT now and which GC favourite strikes first. Gesink must be the slight favourite, I guess, but as always it comes down to daily form. |
