Sadly that's not likely to happen with the Tour de France as always just a month later, I think Alberto Contador's performance at the 2015 Tour has finally cemented it into cyclist's minds that you can't do a Giro-Tour double anymore no matter how good you are. |

Screw the Tour
But your point stands.
However, if history is anything to go by, there are promising signs. For the 2009 Giro, the "100th year Giro" or whatever it was dubbed, the only active GT winner who wasn't at the startlist was Contador, who understandably wanted to focus on the Tour after being unable to race it in 2008. Everyone else (Sastre, Di Luca, Menchov, Basso, Armstrong, Cunego, Simoni and Garzelli) was there.

I think over the next few years, we are going to get a more defined GT schedule from the big riders 1) The Tour or 2) Giro/Vuelta double as it seems clearer than ever to do Giro/Tour or Tour/Vuelta that the rider is just too tired for the second GT. If this happens then the Giro should get a bigger line-up which it surely deserves.
I know the UCI several years ago was thinking of reducing the Giro and Vuelta to 2 weeks to make them less draining, I hope of course that this never happens but I understand why they were thinking of it. |

As expected, no surprise Dimension Data will appear before Licence Commission, unless they don't want in ( which I am sure UCI will make sure they do ) they will become PT team.

Big difference between now and then is that Acquarone is now boss and he is nowhere as good as Zomegnan.

Zomegnans routes were getting redicoulus! 2011 was way to mountainous. Anyway you are wrong about Acquarone, he was stood down and replaced by Vegni in 2014

I have to say I was not previously aware of the existence of the University of Chester. That's having spent the past two months of my life trawling through British universities as a part of the university application process.
I mean, Doctor of Science? Really? Perhaps it's for his contributions to the field of Biology in furthering our understanding of how a twat's brain works.

Indeed screw the Tour..
Giro is always my favorite "girl" ..thin GC aces list..who cares. It is beautiful and fun race.
Giro/ Vuelta double...tour/ vuleta duo..this has already happening almost 25 years.
Even Pantani Giro/Tour double was just lucky mistake. Win for sure after all as was also pure win Nibbali 2014 Tour win..you just need some luck to be great.
About Tour/ Giro strange first stages start countrys. Personally ..I dont support that like the race name is Tour de France..let is be tour de france then.
Same time..we all remember that crowd at Denmark, UK or Nethrland. That was amazing view..this mass of people / atmosphere defeats most of stages at french soil. |

That was indeed a surprise. Have they hit the mother load. Who will sign up for these guys ?? Hm, perhaps the Colombians that was left out after Team Colombia died. Think some boys was left out in the cold and chasing a contract. Surely they can't fill it up with Brazilians, can they ???
Is this also a ploy for the upcoming Olympics ???
I for one never saw this coming (but then I might have been asleep)
This makes the Pro-Cont div to a whopping 24 teams and perhaps more will join.
Hope the Funvic bid is not another Pinoroad stuff....

Shouldn't really get Zabel'd as this is the confirmation of the licence but who knows, the forum loves throwing around Zabels
One have done a good job getting it together and hopefully the financing of the team is on the up and up because the country is big enough cycling wise to have more than Sky.
Looks like we will have a big selection of Pro Conti teams next season with possibly 24 squads, be curious to see who goes after the wildcards for the bigger races

I don't think they will struggle getting a descent squad together but it all comes down to money at the end of the day. |

Valverde will race the Giro. Needless to say I am a happy man!
Interesting to see how his schedule will look like. It will be hard to fit Ardennes, Giro, Tour, Vuelta and Olympics in there all at the same time. |

Yes Valverde shouldn't return to the Tour anymore.
Got his podium last time, which was great for him. Couldn't do better anyway. And that leaves Quintana to be full leader. |
