Hopefully PCM14 AI will bring a big peloton sprint, that could be a good thing for Sagan.

Cant wait to see how we will fare in our first race of the PT season. Hopefully Cunego can get onto the podium and hopefully its not a bunch sprint ^^^ (Unless Cunego gets a good result from it )

Looking a lot forward to this one. Like Heine and Alakagom I fancy Spilak for the win due to his mountain stat. The steep final kilometer or so should be perfect for him, assuming it's the same as in previous editions.
Yep, same profile - the PCM profile shot tends to miss out the last KM or so which is unfortunate for races like this where the last kilometre is quite different to the preceding ones!
Spilak is my bet, but the race can be quite unpredictable.

We have another name associated with Vesuvio in Toms Skujins, but the latvian will be trying to upset SN, rather than amusing him.
On the contrary, after Gastauer and Schleck I will be cheering on Skujins!
First hill race for me where Schleck is not leader. I'm not really looking forward to it!

Time to see how lethal the combination of TVG and Barrio are together. Need to get off to good start here so we don't start our relegation fight by being dropped in quicksand.
I got money down on TVG but in reality I think Trofimov takes the opener.
Good luck everyone.
I was just going to post how this race already feels like it is quite important for some teams. Good luck.
Also Bank of Ireland being called the Irish Rovers is really confusing.

Last year Trofimov was 6th, so I'm hoping for a top-5!

Looking forward to race in PT again! I guess a mid-stage attack is De Bie's best chance of a good result. Feels a bit odd to not have a serious contender in a hilly classic anymore!
Bakelants was convincing in the Continental Championships. Putting my money on him, today.

I'm curious to see if any of my three loaned will be able to do something important in this race.
My money is on Hagen but good luck to all

The first races of the season are always somewhat nerve wracking. I'm hoping for Caruso to overperform again, and for Ponzi to perform this time around. Saying that, Palini has stepped up to Caruso's level this season, so I'm pretty sure I have one of the best backups to Ponzi I can get.

Congrats to Tinkoff. I think Trofimov might actually be terrifying this season.
Great start from Jan, very happy with second!

McCarthy did about what I'd have expected, but McConvey in the breakaway makes it a worthwhile trip regardless.
Also, I can now brag that exactly one year after riding our first race in an obscure C2 classic in Cuba, we made it to the big stage.

Not a great start to the season. I guess De Bie was injured in that crash since he finished behind Yates and Haavardsholm. Let's hope for better in Qatar!
Congrats to Tinkoff and thanks for the report, Gustavovskiy!

Not a great result in the end for Vanendert.
But, at least he tried something! Hopefully this will be his approach in future hilly races/stages

I can see the future. Extremely happy with 3rd from TVG! Looks like we get to start the season on solid ground.

Following only one attack and then ending 15th... You're aware you've got a 85 hill stat to use, Boasson Hagen?
That was just disappointing. Cool to see Hoelgaard up there on the results though, but it doesn't really help in a race where we're supposed to have our captain in the top 5 at least.
Also pretty surprised to see us take no responsibility in the chasing of the breakaway, it really looked like a day off from the very start.
Congratulations to Oleg_Tinkov! Trofimov looks to be in beast mode another season, which could lead to great things for them.
Very well team effort by Festina as well, with six riders top 22. Difficult to explain how they were able to do it though, looking at their stats. Maybe this really is Festina's season thinking of the overall rankings?
Anyway, great to have the season going, looking forward to see the sprinters battle it out in Qatar! |

Very cool to see Vosekalns continuing his attacking in PT. He obviously loves to be in the daily break.
Impressive show by Trofimov who continues with his strong rides from last season!
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Yeah I didn't really pay much attention afterwards, but I believe that's what happened. I hope MG Karma hits you on the other side next time

Yeah I giggled when I read your post. Pretty much spot on. SN's pre-race comment is also funny looking at it now.
Congrats on that first result

I don't really get RBH. He just sits there witnessing everybody else do their thing. I have no clue why he doesn't live up to his stats.
However in all fairness your team had a secondary role in the chasing effort (I was just too lazy to report it)
