Just finished stage 2 with the sprint into Tournai. The breakaway of 6 riders almost made it, getting caught in the last half km. Even though I had my relay on 95 effort they never really made it to the front.
The sprint train did a decent job though and once again Cavendish went off the front and couldn't be caught. Was all a bit easy really. Even though the finishers behind were all recognised sprinters, they all seemed to leave it a bit late considering I still had some red bar left when I crossed the line. There should be multiple sprint trains all trying to vie for position and reacting to whatever you do. There was also some really dodgy sitting up in saddle, back down again etc even though my button bashing was keeping the effort bar on full red.
From this, the game is absolutely crying out for replays. I want to see a helicopter replay, head on or any free form camera of these sprints, just like you see on TV.

You don't need to tap LB + RB all 60km of TT - you need to tap them as long as you reach the effort level what you want, then just press and hold A button and that effort level will stay constant!!
At first I thought that you need to tap LB + RB all the time to keep up the pace and get pissed off, but then I found out that's a lot easier

Great review - agree with most of what you say having just got this on PS3 ( pre-order came early! ).
One query though - how do you skip sections? I have read in a couple of places that you can do this, but I havent noticed an option for it? |

The lumpy end to Stage 3 turned out quite interesting. I decided to join the break with Cavendish to pick up some intermediate sprint points. During the playable 1st section the gap didn't get any bigger than 40 seconds, the guys on the breakway didn't seem to want to work that hard, judging by my effort, then during simulation the gap went up to nearly 7 minutes. Once I was back in control the gap started falling again. A little inconsistent in my view.
When it came to the sprint once again it was a formality. At about 1 km, I cranked up the speed, then started sprinting with around 600m left. By the time I'd crossed the line, I was miles clear, the other guys only just starting to sprint. I think this part of the game needs a bit of work.
For the final 2 sections over the climbs there was carnage. I chose Boassen-Hagen. I told Wiggins to follow attacks. So when Gilbert went Wiggins went too, but didn't get very far, so when it came to the next attacks he was struggling. I got Froome to keep him company but there were riders alll over the place.
As it turned out, a single survivor of the initial break won the stage, with mulitple time gaps back to others. I had Wiggins behind me, he just managed to stay in yellow.
No sign of Peter Sagan in my game!

Anyone know where to buy this in the USA? Any stores carrying it?

As far as I remember, last year's game was made available through the US XBOX store. Maybe the same goes for this year? |

As far as I know.. in order to get it in the USA you needed to make an account from a different country, meaning you could then buy it, but you would have to understand the language in order to get it
EDIT: FOR PS3

Wouldn't one then run into PAL vs NTSC issues and game zone problems? There's no USA specific version?
Europe must have fully bought into the idea that all Americans are overweight couch-cuddlers who wouldn't know how to mount a bike if it .... well ... hmmm.

Thanks for the info. I'm assuming that means a second Playstation Network account, based in Europe. All very silly.
In terms of language, Superider ... if your signature is symbolic of your grammar skills, I think that speaks for itself, n'est-ce pas?
I spoke the Queen's English for almost 3 decades before I managed to escape. You can too.

Can anyone help me out, I have 2 names left to fill out on Radioshack team Yorg Bittren and Robbie Mozar, which one is Tony Gallopin and which one is Robert Wagner as they are the only ones missing of my list.
Thanks

Apparently the DB is the same as the PC's Official Release, in which case Yorg Brittren is George Bennett, and Robbie Mozar is Robert Wagner. Tony Gallopin should be Roni Mallomin.

9-Ball I purchased the game and am having it shipped from Sendit.com There are also other websites out there that you can order the game from. The only downside is like they said you have to create a UK PSN account in order to play online. The other downside is that any DLC is not available unless you use the UK PSN account to get it, but that becomes a difficult process in itself. First, you cannot use your american card to purchase PSN funds in GBP. You will need to find a website that sells UK PSN cards. And there are different cards for different countries in Europe. Make sure you get the cards that have the GBP money type. (They will usually say specifically UK in the description.) |

I'm thinking about getting the game and rigging it up to my PC. Is is worth it considering the experiences? Not I don't have a 360 so Kinect isn't an option.

The game has just been released, if you wait some more days there should be some good reviews (although the ones in this thread are already very detailed and, in my opinion, promising)

Hmm, frustration abounds. I created a new PS3 Network account (requires a new account on the PS3 itself, not just a different PSN login) in the European zone, although I'm in the USA. That seems to work without any problems and I believe I'm looking at the PSN European zone products but I don't see Le Tour de France 2012 in the available-for-purchase list of games.
Is it perhaps not out yet in the PSN store? I do see the 2009 title, but nothing for 2010, 2011 or ideally the new game.
Any info appreciated. I emailed Cyanide and Focus for details on a US release but no reply yet. Not holding my breath.

Your best bet overall is to just buy it and import it from a European website. I know that this method takes longer but in the end you are going to find yourself more frustrated with the way that you would have to get it via download. You can't use an American card on a European PSN account, so you would have to buy a European PSN card in order to get that to work. And most of the websites I looked at won't give the code automatically, instead they send you the card in the mail. So you would have to wait to get the card, then download it. I ordered mine last week and it shipped today. I should have it by the end of this week or the beginning of next week at the latest. Keep the European PSN account though, because that would be the only way to access the online features as well as any DLC that they release for the game. So go ahead and stockpile the PSN money for future use, but my best advice is to order the game online anyways. Besides, it could be tomorrow, but it could be a month from now that they put the game on the PSN to buy. I'm glad to see another American enjoying this besides me. |
