I meant on all Fan-Sites. Im pretty sure it was downloaded quite a bit on official forums. The official thread over there had over 300 pages I think. The biggest downfall of that db was the fact it just re-used stages with similar profiles.
Plus its hard to compare without it being in the downloads section, but if it wasn't the most popular it was a very close second imo (in terms of popularity, not necessarily quality), although it had more bugs as well and the Daily db is what started my Veilleux story so of course its great too
I meant all fan-sites too But I'm not sure about it, that's why I said it's a guess. I believe that PCMDaily certainly is the biggest fan-site nowadays, but I don't know how it was in the past (i.e. if the fan sites years ago would be big enough for a DB to be possibly downloaded 47k times).
For comparisons purposes:Spoiler the 2013 French DB's (who started this discussion anyway ) thread on Cya forum has 119 pages (besides being posted on nearly all communities I know). The download seems to be done exclusively by internet (5 parts), hosted on uptobox. However a few of them are hosted on partage-facile, which shows the download numbers: 629 and 258 downloads on partage-facile for parts 1+3 of the variants pack, 389 downloads on partage-facile for part 1 of the DB itself.
I don't think there's a way to know the number of downloads of the parts hosted on uptobox, but I'd be surprised if it'd be 50 times higher (in which case the total of downloads would be ~20.000 for 119 pages on Cya forum). Therefore, despite having 300+ pages on Cya forum, I don't think the one you've mentioned would have reached 47k downloads
Btw, are you talking about the Full Cycling Manager? Checking now they have 345 pages on Cya's forum. I downloaded that one for PCM10, it was cool indeed. Too bad PCM10 sucked
ps.: but if it is the FCM you're talking about, just for the lulz:

Exactly, that was my point in my first post: saying Daily's better without even knowing the other DB? A bit close-minded imo
Now, seriously, this is going way off-topic even for the off-topic forum
And indeed, it's a different group of French members. The ones from the Full Cycling Manager are not nearly as arrogant

Well, it bridges some time until the PCMdaily DB is there
And I just like Lower League Management play, so for a LLM career, I'll use (an edited) French Community DB, for good-CT teams/PCT/WT careers, I'll use PCMdaily's.
Yes, so probably going to make 2 installs, if I ever figure out how

Wasnt the FCM DB the one where you got a fairly limited number of equipment and they expected you to pay them so they would give you the link for more? I remember the the big argument about that! And the french community DB is run & made by the likes of mede_33 nowadays, who are putting an awful lot of work into it. Heck, most, if not all of my graphics that could b found in the Daily2013 pack are included in the FCD as well. Its not that bad a DB

Really? That's your definition of "how to play PCM"? Reach the WorldTour? That sounds dull.

I have to say the French DB does look very good in my opinion - some people have spent a lot of time doing some great graphics like the sponsorkits/buildings/updated newspaper/backgrounds etc

Agree with you Stromeon.
I'm really going to think which one I'll use(the most).
I'll probably end up with the Daily DB anyway

No, I will get it done. I had oral surgery to remove a piece of jawbone, so I've been resting.
Ah... I see. I had oral surgery to remove a supernumerary tooth two years ago, tbh it wasn't that bad, except for the fact that I WOKE UP during the freaking surgery. Good thing they also used local anesthesia.

Well. On a hotel room with Wifi. Can't be bothered to catch up much, though (53 unread PCM Daily messages for 2 days) But at this rate, I guess there will be a new Café Pedro by the time I'm back?
So France is nice. Can't wait to get to the mountains, though
And I'm starting to hope I don't have wifi there, or I might be too tempted to take the laptop and visit too often. After all, PCM.Daily is my full time job, seeing how much I miss in 2 days
See you guys later! |

Had planned a few days of doing close to nothing after three weeks of Tour de France-work. Made it one day until my boss called me to pack my bags and get to Sweden in order to cover the women's European Championship in football (Denmark made it to the semis).
Back home again now ... and might consider shutting off the phone this time around

Is that supposed to be a practical joke or something? There's no way that's real. But then again, I don't know what happens in France.

my uncle didn't even know what it was
edit: I wouldn't never post something like this if I made it up. first I wouldn't think of it, second not even post it if it wasn't real

Ahh, yes, indeed. I remember someone said it should be elected funniest thread of the year in the Awards
Spoiler But it still doesn't change the fact that the French DB can't admit there's a single flaw in their DB, says that the French DB is much much better than any other DB, says that every person who played with it claimed it's the best DB ever (heck, he said that the ElectroZenshu DB was the best DB ever for PCM, solely because Daishenzu worked on it and does the stats of the French DB), comes up with posts like "when the final version is released every other DB will look ridiculous", criticized f.e. the Stanos minishirts and newspaper just to make his point that in graphics the French DB was better, mede complains about others not sharing stuff but when he posted his minishirts he said it was all "for private/FCD use", used work that was in Daily's DB exclusively without even asking if there was there was any problem with doing it... sure it's not a bad DB and there's a lot of work put into it, but they take propaganda to a whole new level, and the problem is that they disrespect other's work sometimes because of that.
baseballlover312 wrote:

You see, that's exactly what I'm sort of against. Choose a DB because of its quality, not because it's made by the community from your contry or something like that (if you look at reviews from "Which is the best DB?" in other communities that release DBs, it's ridiculous how much parcial those reviews are )
