Thank you for the report, Abhi!
Love to see Amezawa being aggressive, must admit I got surprised he was that weak when being up front, being dropped early. After that, it looked like he emptied himself completely to hang on/stay away from the first big group, which he just managed. That might be 12 expensive seconds, looking at what is to come |

Dammit. First really bad stage for us, and it immediately wipes away all the work we did to build up that podium buffer. It's been a race of a seconds for two weeks, but Hirt, Carthy, and Godoy snatched an opportunity to take minutes. When you do that, you're earning spots. I'd say we were too inattentive, but Galta getting dropped by the chase means he was really just too weak. Unfortunately that weakness came out on a day where the gap was big and the guys up the road were his closest competitors. Can't really complain, they're all as strong as him anyway, and he was very lucky to be in the spot he was.. It's just frustrating after holding on this long.
I guess the fun had to end at some point, and we're going in the wrong direction now. I don't see us taking time back on Hirt in the final week given his good recovery, so I guess it's about preserving our top 5 as best we can no. Not super optimistic.
Thanks for the report!

Vosekalns seems out of juice which is not a good sign when KoM points are on the line. Don't think there's anyone in the squad who can take his place so just hope the Latvian finds his form back

Superb move indeed. Kinda scary, but fortunately Dombrowski/Haig were in control of this gap.

Great to see Stüssi join the decisive move - not great to see him dropped on the final kilometers... Still, he gained some seconds and a GC spot, but I'm afraid he might lose big time tomorrow, given that he finished the stage completely empty...
Congrats to Moser on the stage win, and thanks for the report!

Glad Bennett wanted in on the aggression but really didn't work and with the breakaway success puts him out of the Top 10. Hope he's dropped enough to try it himself or otherwise has some really strong stages from the pack. And also obviously would like to see Fouche go for it again.

We are quickly running out of time to make something out of this race.

Finally. First PT win, first GT win, first Ahlstrand win. The Giro is now has an at minimum satisfactory result. Depending on Vosekalns' recovery it could become even better.
Thanks for the reports and good luck to all in the final stages

Big congratulations, Marco! That felt very, very deserved
And now we're in for three brutal stages. Hopefully Amezawa is able to make the most of his aggression, though, seeing how the race has been so far, I have no clue if that will be via a classic breakaway, early aggression from the favourites group in the final, or some crazy things in between those two options. At least I'm hoping for something! |

Quite happy with the stages lately. Larsen sneaking into the top 10 here and there, Nesset with a very good performance from the break and into the top 20 in GC and Arensman also in a fight for the U25s. Some tough stages to go, but hopefully we can finish good!

I join the voices being happy for Marco! Congrats
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm still very happy about Steimle's stage win, but in terms of building on that surprising foundation to bring home a good amount of points compared to others banking multiple top 5s, he's been awful since.
Always too far back in the big pack of sprinters, never in a good wheel.
Also I didn't understand Fortunato being the chosen breakaway rider on stage 16, literally our worst of 6 climbers present and thus nothing gained from that stage either.
Well, except for the fact that somehow all of our three best climbers finished in the very select peloton, which does absolutely nothing for our GC aspirations with their multiple off-days throughout the race.
Somehow we're back in a decent teams classification position because of that though.
Maybe, maybe, maybe Johannessen gets into a break that finally gains like 10 minutes on everyone else and actually returns into U25 contention, but that's wishful thinking by now with the way the race is ridden. The KoM fight is definitely gone regardless.

Congrats to the little yellow men, well deserved win by Ahlstrand - finally!
Bol was unfortunately not well placed, just like last time he wore the Ciclamino - almost have to hope Dombrowski will take it back (which will almost surely happen), so Bol can be at his best again on the final day
But regardless, it's been an awesome race by him, against some really strong competition, so another Top 10 is definitely a good result here!
Thanks for the report, and good luck to everyone for those brutal days to come.

The race is almost over and it feels like we havent really arrived yet. Not a good race so far, hopefully we can still save it in the next couple of mountainous stages.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Is this going to be a case of always being the bridesmaid and never the bride?
In all seriousness its been a very positive last 2 days with two 2nd places in a row which also sees us shoot up to 5th overall as well! Hopefully with that sprint transition stage between Carthy's long range attack and the last 3 decisive mountain stages, theres been a chance for Carthy to have recovered enough not to fall back down the placings. My only worry for us is that with the short stages ahead it may stack heavily in favour of breakaways which will affect our points scoring chances...
Congrats to marco and Roman for their stage wins!
