Thanks guys, that was really what we needed. I've really enjoyed seeing the team attacking these last few stages. Okay, Lastra sucks at actually scoring KoM points, but what a ride by Nesset. After dropping completly out of the GC, this was exactly what I wanted from him. More mountain stages to come and he's still way back in GC, so hope he can continue with this style of riding.
Agreed SotD, he scores very good for a 78 mountain rider. Okay, he's always the captain, so that frees him up a bit, but he's normally very consitent in the GTs and in that range where he's allowed to go on the attack. A great rider for us to have in the team and results like this will be vital for our chances of staying up.
Thanks for all your effort, Cunego. Great quality, as always.

Bummer! Finishing on the podium, only to find out in the results it was Ilnur Zakarin and not Aydar (you might wanna change the minijerseys in the report to avoid confusion )

We joined a successful breakaway.
Spoiler Having the 2nd and 3rd best riders in the break by some margin, really should be doing better though.

There we go, that's what we got Lilian for in general and at Le Tour. Fantastic stuff! No panic, but striking at the perfect moment. Great report once more!

Vliegen really should have been in that first group after the climb as better puncheur. Missed opportunity for the big points but at least it was the first breakaway appearance by us rewarded with a 4th and 2nd in the teams. Last will be needed to continue going breaks.
Zardini, Ciccone and even Valls are perfect to do so in the third week. Please don't use Vliegen or Boom on those mountain stages.
The amount of breakaway wins by Isostar this year is huge. At least from my feeling, might be wrong. |

I'll take that! We drop massively in the team standings, but green actually looks doable if the Champs-Elysées gets messy.
Tomorrow would be perfect for Herklotz if the game cared about that, a tough hill followed by a downhill finish.
Too bad it'll likely go nowhere, but I would really like to see at least an attempt at gaining time!

You aren't, the Giro was very kind to them already. They will win the PT partly because of that, but still deserved imo.
Congrats Croatia!

Oh come on...
Exactly what i feared would happen and now Herklotz has a great opportunity to win green. My best hope is that herklotz' weak mountain support cant stop the breaks to win.
So, Van Stayen is “properly” back in green, but he still has to be salty to leave that many points to a breakaway
And his manager even more...
And to top it off, Evonik wastes the best sprint preparation of the season on a sprint like this...

I think Poljanec remembered his short Isostar days here and decided to help out Calmejane in the end
We already got our stage win so I don't mind too much
Fun stage

I'm very excited about this third place. I wasnt sure if chasing all day would be the right decision but it seems like AI knows the stages better than me for once
Enjoyed the times when first Dzamastagic and later Stoltz would ride like mad men to drop riders like flies.
Unfortunate that this caused Chiarello to drop down further in the GC but now he doesnt have any excuses to not join the breakaways on the next couple of days.

Positioning and breakaway choices in PCM are really annoying.
How can teh same teams always have 3-4 riders in the break in every stage race, in especially GTs while others are purely ignored.
And why is Olivier as one of the best Mo/Hi hybrids in this race always positioned at the end of the peloton and even losing contact due to this.
That`s the 2nd suited stage, where he can`t gain time and even losing on Roglic.
His support also dropped early due to positioning of team in general as otherwise Vliegen should have been of more help on such stage as Van Stayen shows.
Can only hope on the longer mountains positioning is less important as Olivier is moving forward before the main splits happen.
And also I hope Valls is going into the break to get closer to top15 instead of being passed by Smith, Brambilla, Karnulin, Novak, Novikov as also being gapped by Godoy, Vangstad, Chiarello, Goos, which I expect to be in the break a lot in the last stages. |

Herklotz not extending his lead there is definitely a welcome surprise. Now there's four mountain stages left: one strongly favoring Herklotz, one slightly favoring Herklotz and two favoring Madrazo.
With the gap at just 15 seconds, I'd give them both 50% chance to beat the other in GC.
And let's not forget that Sicard and Spilak are still very close. If either of them has a great day and grabs yellow, they could definitely take it all the way to Paris.
Looking forward

Great job by the team. First I was mad not being in the break, but we pulled the pack well and played our cards perfectly. Congrats to Smtih for another great win (shame we couldn't get him as well), but that mad ride by Roglic to move us further up the rankings. Hopefully he still has the legs in the big mountains then. Terrific display!
@cio93: I can understand that you're very involved in this race. But at this point it's honestly very annoying to read your comments of complaint every day. Yes, Herklotz is the best rider in the race and should win yellow, but he is on track to do so and races a realistic race. It wouldn't be realistic if he'd ride for every stage and every point in the points classification. At the same time your team is definitely not made to chase in the high mountains as you also built for the TTT, so it would only makes sense if your doms hold something back/can't chase everything. Yes, I know it's a competitive game and I don't need to read the comments, and I also love myself an erratic and unreasonable rant or too (and even more so in the past ). But reading these hugely disappointed comments after every stage of the race that Herklotz didn't win honestly makes me think twice about opening the discussion thread. |

I'm sorry.
I'm not in a good place, and it shows. I shouldn't let it show.

A couple og very eventful stages for Festina unfortunately turned out to nothing. I can’t complain as long as the right riders are in the breaks though!
I can’t quite understand though why my two loanies Barta and Budyak haven’t joined a single break all season. Both should be well suited.

Very good tries from Vangstad on three stages in a row. Good to see him fight, he clearly wants to see the team get something from this race.
This is it, though. We really, really need Galta to wake up now, as he and breakaway appearances on stage 17-20 is our only hope left for this race. |
