Going to be in for an interesting final stage tomorrow with Degenkolb in the overall lead by about four seconds. The man understandably laid out gasping for air after that 'sprint', took over 10 seconds to power up that wall of an ascent and started needing oxygen as part of the chemical reaction providing energy to the muscles.
Movistar got it all wrong today, Lobato started 20 or so positions down and was clearly much stronger than Valverde. If only Lobato was in Valverde's position Lobato would be easily end as today's leader.
This is set up for a great finale though, so far Degenkolb lacked the speed in the flat finishes and can't see it changing tomorrow. He'll be hoping the Italian duo defeats Cav tomorrow.

OGE backstage pass of Stage 3 of Herald Sun Tour with onboard action of Ewan's winning sprint. Very impressive.

I'm delighted that Ewan took the 2nd stage, he's definitely confirming that he's ready for a World Tour team already at such a young age
Dubai will be interesting tomorrow, with 2 intermediate sprints and a totally flat stage where Cavendish can easily re-gain all the time he lost today.
DegenStache with a very impressive feat here today. Winning against the dominating, early season version of Valverde is quite something on such a stage, even for a recognized tough sprinter like him.
He may be well on his way to fully transform to a classic rider. Which would be a tiny bit lame because he's one of the rare sprinters I genuinely like to see winning.
EDIT: Purito was in the race too!

Would love to see that final 20% uphill sprint on Strava.
Degenkolb's around 80kg (?) so that must've been some serious wattage for 20-30 seconds.
Guess I could just pick a number...with 4 digits in it
Anyway great effort, especially as he even put a few seconds into everyone in such a short space of time. It certainly looked like he'd had a good workout by the end.

Cavendish completely delusional, blabbering about his 11 seconds "penalty" on Degenkolb.
Well what he's asking is whether there was a gap between Bole and Bookwalter and then a gap between Pinto and Battaglin and then no other comparable gap until between Silin and Ferri.
The answer is yes the gap is correct. He also says he wanted to see the overhead shot himself and after he did that i expect he would agree
Not even a wild Tyler Farrar can deny Caleb Ewan from winning a second straight stage at the Herald Sun Tour. Yesterday Farrar was in the break for MTN - Qhubeka and wasn't involved in the sprint finish, this time the American was well and truly in the thick of things. Steele Von Hoff with another strong performance to get on the podium again in third:
Victory for Tony Gallopin and Lotto Soudal in Stage 4 of Etoile de Bessèges. Topsport Vlaanderen's Edward Theuns get his third podium placing of the race with a second consecutive third place.
