If it is anything like Cadel winning the Tour de France was here, then even everywhere that hadn't mentioned him before today will have him on the front page, or at least front of their sports pages.
A great thing for Canadian cycling if nothing else.

He made the SportsCentre Update and he was one of the headlines of the show
The Vancouver Canucks supported him a lot too!
And CBC or national broadcasting station also covered him!
I'm not sure if anyone thought he was going to win though.

I really like the podium here. The 3 riders who actually attacked during the race (obviously, de Gendt only yesterday, but he was a very outsider who couldn't keep up with the best and obviously not attack). Rodriguez was much closer in the end than what I'd expected after seeing his first time check. Maybe if he attacked earlier yesterday like Piva said he'd asked he could make some more time.. but obviously still a great result for him.

I wonder if the TT was the full length, if Rodriguez could have kept the jersey because he finished so strongly.

Does it really matter ?
Hesjedal would have paced himself slightly differently then obviously. Well done Ryder, best guy won.

After this Giro, I just hope we see more new riders fighting for the GC in the Tour and the Vuelta. And now, hope they look at Hesjedal with more respect. They had the chance to drop him, but he stood there. After the three weeks, I conclude, he is the deserved winner. |

The Tour will be different. There's just three really hard uphill finishes, so guys like Schleck has no choice but to attack early if they want to make up for their losses in the time trials.
I think we can safely say that there will be more action there.

Hesjedal now has the obligation to defend his title, I guess no tour contention in the near future.

Man what a great Giro. De Gendt does well for Belgium too. Their first podium in a long time!

Deserved podium finish for all three. It may not have been the most exciting Giro overall, but these past two days have been quite interesting and in the end I must say I'm quite happy with the results, both regarding stage winners and the top 10 in the general classification.
Now let's see if the Tour can deliver this year aswell, hopefully the fact that De Gendt made the podium in this manner can encourage other outsiders to attack more in future tours. |

What are Garmin's plans for the tour? I heard Martin will go for mountains points. That leaves the three headed monster. With Hesjedal not in top form, what will eh do? Just support Danielson. That's not something a GT winner is suppossed to do. And even with form off, he can't be aggresive because he's seen as a potential threat now. What will they do with him?

My prediction was:
1. Basso
2. Scarponi
3. Rodriguez
4. Schleck
5. Rujano
6. Hesjedal
7. Cunego
8. Uran
9. Kreuziger
10. Cataldo
At least I got Rodriguez on the podium, and Scarponi close. Also Hesjedal a bit higher than most other people here thought.

If Ryder goes to the Tour he will probably work and be the late stage attacker.
The Giro is perfect for him, cause he can still peak for the PT classics.
