Thanks guys, thrilled to have Paindersen in the ass on board Wink

Loan signings complete Grieg squad

With Pedersen signing for 1,2 millions, the management had to look for value deals on the loan market to complete the squad. And we thus welcome the following four:

Mathias Krigbaum | 25 years old |XP: 4.09 | Wage: 50,000
FLMOHITTSTARESRECCOBSPACCFIDHPRL
76676973737471626564706972

Mathias is our annual loanee from Carlsberg! He is a strong roleur and could also be helpful in the TTTs.

Felix Grossschartner | 27 years old |XP: 4.66 | Wage: 50,000
FLMOHITTSTARESRECCOBSPACCFIDHPRL
67727567727271506270696869

We've many good cobblers, but Felix is not one of them! Instead he will be amongst our top hilly riders. We don't expect big results from him, but hopefully he can show himself a bit, before returning to Philips next year with some experience from the highest level.

Benoit Cosnefroy | 25 years old |XP: 4.09 | Wage: 65,000
FLMOHITTSTARESRECCOBSPACCFIDHPRL
75687176777971696969807476

We are very excited to have Benoit Cosnefroy on loan for a year, coming in from the talent factory Aramco. A great attacking rider, with good abilities on the time trial bike and also a decent cobbler. Cosnefroy will be a very useful rider for us this season.

Hugo Hofstetter | 26 years old |XP: 4.22 | Wage: 50,000
FLMOHITTSTARESRECCOBSPACCFIDHPRL
72627064707171727576716866

Hugo also joins us from Aramco and will be a useful rider in the classics team around Wisniowski and Pedersen.

On the top of those four loanees, we've also signed Julien Vermote as a part of the deal with Taylor Phinney.

Julien Vermote | 31 years old |XP: 4.100 | Wage: 50,000
FLMOHITTSTARESRECCOBSPACCFIDHPRL
75547070747166746872736673

Julien is more of a veteran and will be a road captain for classics.

Our squad is now finalised and only something extraordinary would change that. Our squad looks like this, prior to the training camp ahead of the season.

No sprinter, no puncheur, no GC climber. You better hope the double threat for the classics works, or sadly i see your team going down.

Obviously i assume Wisniowski trained to 83

Yes, I'm nervously waiting to see how it will work out. Take away all of Phinney's points last year and we would end up at 18th place, 54 points behind 17th place.

Other than that, it's more or less the same team. My hope is that a maxed Pedersen, a trained Wisniowski, maxed Würtz (with a plan more suited for him, not only to secure him maxing) and maxed Kragh will make us score the needed points, but surely expecting a season in the bottom half.

Such a cool team. Definitely not one that tried to maximize 2020 points but i hope the double trouble will work out fine for you.

I cant wait to see you predicted last in any formula based prediction though Pfft

Congrats on Pedersen. Really cool rider and I wish him all the best with you, I know you wanted him bad and you will take great care of him. Can't wait Smile

Thanks for the comments guys! I'll take great care of Pedersen for sure, Jandal! Also hope to see Grossschartner maximising his time in PT, Abhi, he should at least have a "green light" to do what he wants on most stages.

Jersey time!

Thanks to the_hoyle, we already had a great jersey before this season. This year we also have the Danish road champion, the time trial champion from Taiwan and of course the world champion!

Take a look at these stunning jerseys, and just imagine Pedersen in the Danish NC jersey setting up Wisniowski in the WC jersey for that deadly attack on Carrefour de l'Arbre CoolCool

2019 vs 2020 - and what's left

We're done with all the GTs - the clearly weakest part of our season and we now try to crawl upward in the rankings and hopefully end up safe. Let's take a look at the seasons for our key riders so far:

Mads Würtz: The Danish TT specialist - finally maxed - is our most scoring rider so far this season. He's been consistent from the start and four of the second places is also behind Taylor Phinney. Without him, we wouldn't have had a chance of staying up. He will get to ride his TT bike some more this season and we hope to see him adding up a further good amount of points.

Key results this season:
1st Stage 1, Tirreno-Adriatico
1st Copenhagen-Malmo TTT
3rd Stage 3 Praha-Karlovy-Praha
2nd GC Praha-Karlovy-Praha
14th Chrono d'Arenberg
3rd Stage 3 Tour of Norway
11th GC Tour of Norway
2nd Stage 3 Criterium du Dauphine Libere
2nd Stage 7 Criterium du Dauphine Libere
2nd Chrono des Herbiers
19th Nakhon Ratchasima Trophy

Points this season: 722
Points last season: 223
Difference: + 499
Races left: Paris-Tours, Deutschland Tour and Tour of Tasmania.

Lukasz Wisniowski: Wisniowski, the reigning world champion, had a huge season last year. This year he's struggled a bit more and the team management have also apologized to Wisniowski for the scheduling this year. Neither the Franceville Classique or the Chrono d'Arenberg ended up giving the Pole a chance to win and that is reflected in his points tally so far this season. He does have some great races coming up and we hope to see him getting up to 1000 points for the season.

Key results this season:
13th Milano-Sanremo
5th Strada Appia Antica
2nd Ronde van Vlaanderen
5th Paris-Roubaix
8th Chrono d'Arenberg
23rd Franceville Classique
8th Nakhon Ratchasima Trophy
11th GP Moscow

Points this season: 658
Points last season: 1628
Difference: - 970
Races left: East Midlands Cicle Classic, Paris-Tours, Tour of Northern Europe and Rheden GP.

Kragh getting caught on the line in Sanremo

Søren Kragh Andersen: Another rider who maxed this season and he's shown that he has indeed taken another step. The 3rd place in the Milano-Sanremo was both a huge result and a heart break, but all in all he's showed himself as the rider we wanted him to be. Great in the prologues and very useful in the flat classics.

Key results this season:
8th in GC Tour of Qatar
3rd Milano-Sanremo
1st Stage 1 Praha-Karlovy-Praha
12th Rund um Köln
16th Nakhon Ratchasima Trophy
21th GP Moscow

Points this season: 479
Points last season: 169
Difference: + 310
Races left: SAA Tour d'Afrique, Paris-Tours, Deutschland Tour, Tour of Maroc and Tour of Tasmania.

Mads Pedersen: The highest wage on the team, but he hasn't lived up to that this season. Eight riders have scored more points than Pedersen this season. Some of it down to bad luck like punctures, but all in all he hasn't been quite able to show himself like we wanted. He does have a couple of chances to show that he deserves to be a part of our plans for the next seasons and he's been more in form after the Tour de France.

Key results this season:
41th Milano-Sanremo
27th Strada Appia Antica
26th Ronde van Vlaanderen
37th Paris-Roubaix
50th Rund um Köln
16th Franceville Classique
7th Nakhon Ratchasima Trophy
27th GP Moscow

Sigurd Nesset: Our GT machine! He loves the second and third week of the GTs and he been a consistent point scorer in the GTs this season. His season is finished and we're happy to see him ending it on the green side of things.

Key results this season:
33rd Hallstatt Classic
3rd stage 6 Vuelta a Colombia
18th GC Vuelta a Colombia

Vegard Stake Laengen: Huge season last year. Not so lucky with the breakaways this season and that's showing in the rankings. We hope to see him scratching up to 300 points before the season end.

Key results this season:
1st Copenhagen-Malmo TTT
17th GC Praha-Karlovy-Praha

Wisniowski clearly the biggest problem on that list. Hopefully he can finish the season strong. Love seeing Wurtz and SKA do so well though! Clearly their time training with Carlsberg set them up well for PT results. Maybe someday they will decide to pity their dev team and come home. Pfft

Seeing Wisniowski this low is quite disappointing but im very much convinced that he will still finish in the four digits.

Hope you end the season well enough Wink

@bbl Certainly hope he can find his mojo as well. Very happy with Würtz and SKA this season indeed. Especially seeing Würtz being so consistent in the top 3 in the TTs have been great to see. The two of them stepping us as maxed riders certainly very important for our chances to stay up. I hope they stay with us for many years, but I know they value their time in Carlsberg very highly Smile

@knockout: Yeah, he hasn't quite been very we wanted. As mentioned in the post, it does come a bit down to the lack of good races with Strada, RvV and Roubaix being the only proper cobbles races. I thought Arenberg would be good for him, but seems like 76tt69cb (Cosnefroy) is a better hybrid than 74tt83cb for some reason Pfft Chesire would in such a sense probably been a better choice, but that's how it is. Midlands, Rheden and ToNe should all be great races for him, so hoping at least for a win from one of those races. If not, I guess it's just a case of the rainbow curse Shock

Or he feels too much pressure with Pedersen on the same team. There is an easy solution to solve that for next season though Pfft

Great to see Cosnefroy doing a good job for you this season. Hopefully he can help the team stay in the PT with a strong end to the season.

@knockout: Haha, I don't really like easy solutions, but you never know what's going to happen.

@LLS: I hope so too! He's been brilliant so far and he does have a couple of good races left. Would love see him trying a late attack in Paris-Tours for instance.

We say goodbye to Ken Sebastian Vassdål and Rhys Gillett. They have both been steady and good riders for us, but with younger riders coming up, we wanted to make room in the squad.

We renewed the contract with 16 riders and the wage for the 16 actually ended up as the same as last year, in total. That being said, there's some big changes from last season. Mads Würtz had an amazing season last year and had high demands when he met up for negotiations. We had to go high to get him on board for next season, but all in all we're happy to have our core with us for the next season and with some riders taking some further steps in their development.
