Thanks a lot for being so supportive, guys!
Vuelta al Tachira stage 1 done:
Recently discovered workarounds for two problems you might face using the stage editor.
Problem #1
Stage editor crashes when rebuilding a city close to a water area.
Other than taking the usual actions (leaving more space between city and lake, creating city out of IB's, forget about city or water...) there is one option you can choose to leave both (city and water) where and how you initially wanted them to be:
Just place the water after all cities are rebuilded. Recognized the editor won't crash when exporting then.
Problem #2
Within the last 5 KM to the finish line the auto-generated cities aren't rebuilded the usual way, leaving empty pavement or strange looking city tree sections behind.
Villages can be created nicely with IB's, too... but to achieve this with bigger cities is due to the lag of suitable buildings nearly impossible.
Spoiler
(left: normal auto cities; right: same auto cities within last 5 KM)
Quite similar solution here: Just place the finish line after the cities are rebuilded, right before the export. Could be there are collisions between stands and buildings (or fences) then on the last few 100 metres. These can be fixed by linking voie=1 roads...
Finished the test track (real gpx fantasy stage) for the last issue, cause it was well working.
Not much fancy stuff in there, but if you like flat sprint classics it might be worth the download (Kölner Stadtrundfahrt).
Kölner Stadtrundfahrt (cologne city circuit) 147,2 km

Hi friend!
Only 2 things:
-Thanks for your workarounds and feedbacks. They are very useful to stagemakers like us, who try to create very detailed stages.
-Thanks for your stages, like always

As for problem #2: I've noticed, that it's not only important to place the finish line as last. The route itself is also important. So if a route ends 2-5km outside your city, the city will look strange anyway (at least, that's what happened to me). So another tip would be, to extend the route plus placing the finish last.
Other than that: The finish in Cologne looks great

Another workaround with city/water, if you have large water areas, is this (ctrl+f for "4.7 - Interactions entre ville et eau" ):

Thanks a lot for the addition and nice words.
In the Cologne stage the road points never leaves the circuit and I didn't notice anything strange, but will keep your observation in mind when turning to non-circuit finishes.
I recognized that once you've placed the finish line and (after rebuilding) the city has turned strange it's not enough to just erase the finish and rebuild one more time. The city wants to be "moved" (or at least tweaked) to turn nice again.
Thanks for the link. Understanding french isn't one of my primary skills, but the pictures tells a lot, too.
Wow... never been brave enough to try something like this:

Yep, thanks sutty. Is all around fun this stagemaking season... making it last longer than usual (increasing the output).

Great job, as usual Btw, for added realism - did you occasionally add some water crossings?
Any plans on what you'll try next? If you need some ideas I have a couple of them

Added several water crossings first... but they weren't kewl without splash effect.
Will finish Vuelta al Tachira (2013)... though sometimes I like a change of pace, so bring on your ideas. |

Well, on terms of 2013 races: Volta ao Algarve and Vuelta a Murcia are two races I'm interested in since they have changed the number of days. Although there is less than 10 days for Algarve, the website is not updated at all. Luckily I found this in a Facebook page from the race, which seems to be the full written route (forgot the name of it ). It's in Portuguese/French, so if you need help with the .gpx let me know Apparently no route revealed for Murcia yet, but I guess it should be released soon (race is in 20 days after all).
If you're interested in American "domestique" races, there are currently three missing from the National Racing Calendar:
Natura Valley Bycicle Festival: https://www.naturevalleybicyclefestiva...Trial.aspx
Cascade Cycling Classic: https://www.cascade-classic.org/pro-1-...-overview/
Redlands Classic: https://www.redlandsclassic.com/wp-con..._Guide.pdf
There's also the new 2.1 Canada race Tour of Alberta, which it was said would reveal it's route in early 2013. I don't think it's released yet, but it's something to keep an eye on for the future

I'll pick the Cascade Cycling Classic. Like these "small" stages for in between stagemaking... and the .gpx are already provided by the race hp.
May consider another of your choice after finishing the next, thanks for your input. |

Started Cascade Cycling Classic
Prologue outside Bend (Oregon)
Stage 2 of 2013th Vuelta al Tachira is done, too.
Also (mis)used this stage for further testing on the finish issue regarding auto-generated cities...
Spoiler
(left: normal auto cities; right: same auto cities within last 5 KM)
Faced and can confirm what tsmoha already well discribed here:

Nice job with both stages! Again, very nice creativity with the pool on screen 1 of the Cascade prologue I also really like the 3rd screen with the city in the background
