How is everyone doing with this COVID-19 outbreak? The US has went into a big panic. No travel to or from Europe starting Friday.
NBA season cancelled. Multiple concerts and major events cancelled. WrestleMania might be next.
Most schools/colleges are shutting down next week. This has been a wild experience.

everything closed here but supermarkets and pharmacy, none can get out of home if not to buy essential stuff or to go to job in those places, you can work just if you can do it at home on your PC.
surreal situation
I planned to ride amateurs LBL and attend to the professional event next month but I had to cancel the trip. First of all we can't get out for training with bike, and to prepare a so long race on rollers is very very boring, and moreover we don't know if we'll have the chance to leave to Belgium

My university just announced tonight that classes are being moved online until at least April 6th, and they're closing down campus until then. Totally throws my life into a whirl.
It might be sick of me, but it's kind of interesting to see mayhem that throws everyday life out the window. Sucks we're losing the fun stuff too though.

I feel you, after many days of waiting only yesterday did my college announce complete shutdown (all in the city), so now I'm home for indefinite period of time with cases being reported very near me

The numbers of confirmed cases has spiked here as well, so everything is shutting down.
Everyone at the company I work for will be working from their homes.

Just seen ripleys post, I love it!!
Well in Thailand everybody is chilled about it, but we were very fear of getting quaranteened on an internal flight due to our European passports. Funny how everybody warned us from going there due to Corona, and now Thailand blacklisted Germany and not vice versa.
Also people are COMPLETELY overreacting.

I prefer erasing the entire human race over 4 more years of Trump, so if this is our last chance at going extinct before that, I'm in.

I was telling people that this is getting so much media attention that this stuff is happening and I compared it to being the reason that Trump got elected in the first place. He picked up crazy media attention and suddenly started winning...

I went to get some groceries for my grandma today and there was no toilet paper left at the store. Some 6 or 7 meters of shelves, just empty. And that was a pretty big super market. And my aunt is in the hospital right now, in pretty serious condition (non-corona related though) and we've tried to have a family member or friend with her at all times, but now they've limited visits to one person per patient per day to reduce the number of people in the hospital. Totally understandable of course, but also really bad timing for us ...
The scariest thing for me isn't the virus itself but all the ramifications around it. Shortages of medication because factories have stopped. People with other ailments not getting the care they need. Millions of people losing their job in the service industries. I think it's really hard to grasp all the ways in which this will influence our lives.
I do agree with bbl though: I feel a morbid sense of curiosity how this all plays out.

I echo the impact of peoples jobs. I work for an airline in the UK, this week i've personally known 20 people laid off. I also know that if my department has to make cuts, and our budget is already tight, then i am out of job immediately. Yep, i could be laid off any day now, and that day gets more likely with every single international travel restriction.
But you know, i might get a mild flu.... or see someone wearing a bucket on their face... or run out of toilet paper... seems totally reasonable i could lose my job for this...
Maybe i don't fully appreciate the dangers, but in the UK less than 0.05% of the population has Covid-19 and only today did we reach double digits for deaths. I think the odds are actually better of me winning the lottery this weekend than catching Covid-19!
So guess who's buying some extra tickets tomorrow! Which will be handy when i need the money after i'm sacked
And yes i know the risk isn't about me, i'm in my 20's with zero underlying health issues, and it's about preventing the deaths of those who are at risk. But today at work really rattled me seeing these people leaving...

@TMM, damn, that's sad to hear. Definitely, the economic implications are huge already and I fear will only get worse for a good while longer. But don't buy lottery tickets, that's a real sucker bet!
As for overreacting, I don't think so. In most countries hospitals are running near full capacity anyway so even relatively small numbers can overwhelm the system. Which doesn't just mean needless Covid-19 deaths but also other deaths because people didn't get treatment. So while I urge everybody to remain calm I also advise to do anything you can (mostly handwashing and avoiding crowds) not just for your own health but everybody else's, too. Not all of us are still in their 20s...

I'm a little surprised you guys are seeing so many people laid off? Even if this is bad, it's obviously temporary. Obviously the airline industry has been particularly affected and they're going to make cuts to make up for the massive loss in revenue, but in a couple of months they're just going to need to rehire again. Seems like a lot of trouble for this administratively. But I guess that's been the biggest problem that Covid-19 has brought, administrative collapse.

Could anyone briefly explain the latest rules concerning WT teams' mandatory participation in WT events? Asking for a friend who's planning on updating his ancient story DB with a load of new races at the end of this season.

Hey guys, you still here?
So with Czech Republic in COVID hiatus as almost everyone else worldwide (actually many of the restrictions was made here for the first time and lot od countries followed) i have more time for passive cycling again. At least something good in this madness and fuck up...i am switching between home office, parental care and actual work at my work place, uni is shut down, but still we are having some online lessons.
So i have installed PCM 2019 again and started a stage racer "pro cyclist" career with french guy...three GT podiums being 24 years old now, riding for Jumbo-Visma. I have reached last stat update yesterday right before my second career TDF, now with 85 MO, 80 HILL and 78TT i hope i am ready to dethrone Bernal, who is winning GTs left and right for last three years in my save, still with INEOS....he is 85 mountain too, 79 hill, but 73TT so i should be able to gain some time there and in upcoming TTT. He has 84 in recovery though compared to my 76 and maintain a brutal 82 ACC.
And i also started watching replays of recent real GTs mainly TDF where czech TV has all the stages in complete stopage at their site for free starting with 2010 Tour. That is quite a fun but i have reached 2013 Tour now and oh boy, it still hurts to see the monster rising and how much all the teams have f*cked up against at that point vulnerable SKY in stage 9 to Bagnères-de-Bigorre, where Froome got isolated after that mad start to the stage. Movistar, what U doing? You remember that guys?
So...just stopped by to greet all of you guys, i still see some good old names popping up at the first page, i also see that MG is running? Have fun guys and foremost, stay strong, safe and healthy, same for your families....also stay optimistic, we will all manage and rebuild.
