Renewals update

A new transfer season is coming! We say thank you to Michael Vink, Thiago Duarte Nardin and Christian Bertilsson and wish them the best of luck further.

We are very happy to announce that Taylor Phinney took a significant wage cut, close to 500k. Still, it's not guaranteed that he will stay at the team. The management now faces an important decision for the years to come. With Phinney and Wisniowski as leaders last season, the team ended up with a great 2nd place in the rankings. Will we now see a title push? Under normal circumstances, yes, but Wisniowski also reported to the management just how impressed he was by loanee Mads Pedersen last year. The Dane is now a Free Agent, and is certainly a rider of interest for the team. That will probably mean the departure of either Phinney and Wisniowski, and as a reigning WC, it looks very unlikely that it will be Wisniowski. All in all, the team could be set for a very interesting transfer window.

Great cut for Phinney, not so great for Wisniowski.

Huge bumps for SKA and Wurtz, but it's awesome to see them maxed! Grin Maybe you'll add Pederson to the collection. Pfft

Not overly excited to read that you're interested in Pedersen, but I guess it was to be expected Pfft It's a super cool team you got going. I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks in a few weeks time!

Sell Phinney, use the cap space on Pedersen and the transfer fee on Wisniowski, and we have the team that fills the Bewley void right here! Shock

It would be a bold move, but it sounds like a move that could bring you a lot of joy.
Plus, it would mean whoever owns Phinney wouldn't have the funds to train him in his last year of eligibility, so yes please! Pfft

@bbl: Yeah, very happy with Phinney. Wisniowski was a tougher one Pfft Great to have SKA and Würtz maxec, but have hoped to have them a bit cheaper. Still very much looking forward to seeing how they will do this year, especially expecting some good result from Würtz.

@knockout: A boring transfer season is a wasted transfer season!

@redordead: Yeah, I think it will be a great fight for Mads P, so excited to see how that will go down.

@Sykkel: Haha, a such big talent deserves a big competition. With all your free cap space and so many Scandinavian teams, he will obviously be a big target for many teams.

@Cio: That would be the ideal scenario for you and Herklotz yeah! Training is obviously on the cards if Phinney stays, so an exciting transfer season to come.

We are looking for a PT calibre leader. Phinney is a PT calibre leader. Hm....

tastasol
@hoyle: If you can guarantee him a job as an expert commentator in GNC after his career, I think he'll be very tempted!

@valverde: Oh yes, he usually does quite good at this level Wink

Says a lot about the prospect that Pedersen is, that we see you even considering giving up one of the best riders in the game to pursue him.

tastasol
It does indeed. Of course there is the RP factor that really kicks in as well. Had Pedersen been from the US and Phinney from Denmark, then it would never have been something I would consider.

It would be a huge risk, as I really would have to fight against relegation if it does happen, but as you mention, the prospect is something special. Never thought I would get the chance to sign him from FA, which really opens it up. Before that swapping Wisniowski with Netia, as a Polish team, could've been a chance, but parting way with Wisniowski would hurt a lot for me. I'm way more invested in the Classics than the GTs, so even if it's a difficult double, I think it would be cooler for me personally. Will have to do some good thinking over the next week!

That role play thing is very cool, eventhough the timing is unfortunate considering my own plans for transfer Grin Pfft

Pedersen will obviously be a very attractive rider for lots of teams, very curious to see who actually puts money behind it when the FA bidding starts.

And seeing you voice your concern for the wage rises for Kragh and Würtz, I'm sure you'll be able to find nice transfers for both of them if you want to. Wink wink!

tastasol
@Croatia: I'll surely be praying to the Lord in order to get some signs for what I should do Wink

@danny: Yeah, it was a bit more than I wanted, but I had to play it safe in the end after trying to make a good deal initially. Still a decent wage considering his OVL, especially given his results last year.

@ember: I think Pedersen is high up on the list for 10+ teams this year, so surely one other won't do a big difference. As you say, I'm really interested to see who goes for him in the end. Plenty of teams with big funds available at least.

Oh, I'm sure they can be sold if I need it, and I'm sure you will try this year also, but I think it would be a crime to sell them when I finally have them maxed. But, yeah, you never know.

Transfer Availability

The transfer season is coming ever closer. The management has recieved the budget for the upcoming season and has already layed up the plans for the transfer season, with a few different scenarios in mind.

The availability list has also been leaked, and we can see that the management is still undecided about what to do about the big start, Taylor Phinney, giving him an availabilty rating of 6 on a scale from 1 to 10.

Welcome back, Mads P

It's been a few dramatic days in the Grieg-Maersk HQ. Last year Taylor Phinney delivered an amazing season and because of his great results, the team ended in 2nd place in the rankings - the highest ever position for Grieg-Maersk.

Still, it was time to say goodbye to the American after only one season. Team sponsor Maersk pushed hard for team manager tastasol to sign Mads Pedersen, one of the hottest prospects in the cycling world at the moment.

The team management, the riders and sponsors were all very happy with Pedersen when he was on loan at Grieg last year, where he won the Danish NC and was a vital part in the incredibly season from Lukasz Wisniowski.

The management hoped to build an even stronger team around Wisniowski for next year, with Pedersen seen as the man to take over from the Pole within a few years. Eventually Pedersen's wage meant the other targets went out of reach, after only signing Pedersen on a 1,2 million wage. It's believed that he will not be able to keep such a wage in the seasons to come, and that the management sees his potential as a good enough investment for the hefty wage, 500k above classics leader Wisniowski.

We are also happy to announce the signing of Gonzalo Serrano and Andreas Stokbro from Free Agency, for 70k and 60k each.

Stokbro will with time be an important piece around Pedersen on the cobbles, while we look forward to see what Serrano can do in the hills, as a punchy kind of sprinter.

In addition, several riders look set to be confirmed as Grieg-Maersk rider tomorrow, which would finalize the squad for 2020 - a season where the team will be all in on the Northern Classics.
