AUSTRALIAN TIME TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Ballarat - Ballarat - 52km
Fabio Calabria
One of the first pre race favourites to hit a decent time was Stuart O'Grady of Orica GreenEdge
He was beaten almost immediately by his team mate Cameron Meyer
Ben Day of UnitedHealthcare pushed them close but only ended up being the meat in a GreenEdge sandwich
It was a long time later that the best time got bettered and that privilege went to ex World TT Champion Michael Rogers
Our very own Fabio Calabria tried his best but would end up way down the field and totally exhausted from his brave effort
Lots of riders finished but none of them were to challenge the lead until Jack Bobridge another GreenEdge rider powered to the top of the leader board
This left just two riders out on the course and both were capable of taking the title, Cadel Evans and Richie Porte.
Cadel came over the line first but his time was slower than Bobridge by fifteen seconds
And that left just Richie Porte of Team Sky on the road and he was pushing a really high gear as he approached the finish, but would this effort be enough to make him the Champion
And the answer was an emphatic YES as he had taken the best part of a minute out of Bobridges time to win the race and with it the status of Australian TT Champion

Well all i can say to Fabio is that he gave it his best shot, the guy isn't a time triallist but he went out there with his head held high and gave it a go.
He will be disappointed to finish down there in 43rd place, but he will get over it

Fabio did his best, he couldn't do more than that.
