@Mresuperstar, thanks a lot!
After the very hard mountain arrival yesterday, we would like to defend our jersey for another day! Martin is still in front of Samuel Sanchez but the Spanish Champion was able to get some seconds back after the time trial. Today is a quite difficult day as many hills expecting us and especially the last climb with only 5 kilometres to go is not that easy. Samuel Sanchez seems to be in a fantastic shape so far and because of this he might be today´s biggest favourite.
Simon Gerrans had a great day, getting 37 KoM points on the first parts of this stage. He was the new King of Mountains but there was still the last climb and Gerrans was already brought back to the pack. When this last uphill section began, there were some important and nice moves by famous riders. Such as Moreno, Cunego, Cobo and Kolobnev
Xavier Tondo was the first one, going after them with a great attack. He already knew that he´s not the only one, making a move in these moments
Tony Martin felt pretty good today just like yesterday! When Bradley Wiggins started his attack, our captain went after him just a second later. Also Levi Leipheimer attacked with all these guys
Samuel Sanchez, Rodriguez and Mosquera were the last important names, that hadn´t made a move so far. Sanchez looked really strong on this climb but Tony Martin was a few metres in front of him
On the short downhill part, Sanchez was unstoppable for us. Sanchez took some KoM points and that means he´s wearing the jersey tomorrow instead of Gerrans. Poor Simon Gerrans! Tony Martin tried everything when the sprint began but the Spaniard had already a huge gap to him
Fortunately we were able to close this gap as Martin did a great job on the last metres. The came in with the same time but Sanchez got a few bonus seconds so he´s still 39 seconds behind Tony Martin in the overall. Anyway great performance by him, winning this stage on an impressive way. Same with Martin..great stage again Tony!
Rodriguez managed to get on the podium with 40 seconds behind Sanchez and Martin. By the way Maxime Monfort was also able to attack on the last climb which brought him a nice 10th place today. He improved in the overall from 7 to 6

Today is a quite interesting stage for our team as Andre Greipel still wants to win a stage. The last uphill section is more than 20 kilometres before the stage finish so it´s hard to say if pure sprinters like Greipel have a chance today. Heinrich Haussler, Ciolek or Hushovd might have bigger chances to win this 10th stage
Pity, but the game crashed after an impressive stage final! It was Thor Hushovd, who was attacking on the small climb. No one went after him and so he was celebrating his first stage win in Spain this year. Rodriguez and Florencio managed to finish on the podium in front of Martin and Greipel. There was no real bunch sprint in the end but Martin and Greipel still got a nice result today

Quite weird that a sprinter attackson a hill to win a stage
In my career Hushovd got 6 stage wins in the vuelta 2010.
In general a great performance by Martin and good luck with him and Greipel in the next stages. |

Today´s stage is not that hard. Hopefully we can get the stage win for Greipel but the main goal is of course to defend Martin´s position
Sorry but the game crashed again. The stage win was impossible today as a big breakaway was dominating the race process. The best sprinter there were Bozic and O´Grady. The Australian was able to get a small gap in the end of the stage which made him to a stage winner! Champion got a nice second place for AG2R in front of Bernucci. Greipel finished as 9th in the pack

After a couple of relaxing stages, we´re back in the mountains today! 4 climbs expecting us while 3 of them are really hard. Tony Martin´s shape is brilliant so far and we´re quite optimistic that we´re able to defend the leader´s jersey
There were some great climbers in today´s breakaway. Such as Rodriguez and Gomez Marchante. Both of them were unstoppable which means that we were not able to bring them back. Anyway there were not really dangerous for the overall as Marchante was still 2 minutes behind Martin after that stage. Rodriguez won the stage with 1 minute and 4 seconds to Marchante. The pack was very small in the end while the pace was incredible high by Monfort and Van Garderen. Only Pellizotti and Mosquera were able to get some seconds back. The most important thing was that Tony Martin could stay in one group with Samuel Sanchez. Another successful day for our team, keeping the red jersey. A closer look at the overall makes me really nervous

Welcome to stage 13! The legs are already burning but the next mountain arrival is waiting so no time for crying. Today´s stage is maybe the hardest stage in this year´s Vuelta as the final climb is longer than 20 kilometres! It´s going to be impossible to stay with all those great climbers today! My tip for the stage win might be Franco Pellizotti as he was really good yesterday. Hopefully we´re able to defend our jersey for another day
The last climb was just horrible for our team. With more than 10 kilometres to go, Van Garderen and Monfort were completely exhausted after they helped Tony Martin who was on his own now. Pellizotti, Samuel Sanchez, Mosquera, Cobo, Szmyd and Tony Martin were in the leading group. But within the last 3000 metres, there were many attacks. Pellizotti was too strong for Martin and also Mosquera got a nice gap to him. Up to this moment we were still optimistic to defend the jersey but then Sammy Sanchez made his move and we were not able to follow! Cobo and Szmyd went after him. Martin tried everything on the last metres but he lost 19 seconds to Sanchez. That´s quite a lot but the most important thing was: We were still in red! The stage winner came from Spain this time. Mosquera and Pellizotti had an amazing fight there which had the better ending for Moquera

It`s becoming a very close decision between Martin and Sanchez. Hope you can stay in front. Is there another ITT where you can get 1min to him? |
