finally caught up with this race
really happy for Fox with Daspuntsag in the second spot but in all likelyhood Di Maggio'll end up taking the win |

Surely not the best Willunga we ever had...at least the GC seems to be alright with some exceptions.
But the breakaway domination is not ideal even though Fablok surely being very, very happy now.
One of the problems here surely are the teams of the top favourites, who seem to be not strong enough in depth, while other teams such as Gazelle surely could do more, but am not doing anything. |

Hoping Netia could be interested in the race soon, three breaks have been successful, but we've pretty much done nothing. Maybe the final stage?

Great to see Mohoric attack. Too bad it wasn't successful though :/
Unlucky to see both Mohoric and Smirnovs in the very low top ten places in the youth classification.
I do like the gaps on Willunga though. Pretty much what I would ecpect/hope from such a stage.
Oh and congrats sgdanny. Huge, huge race for you.
I'm looking forward to the last stage. Perhaps Geschke finally feels like trying something? Or Dzamastagic with another late attack?
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Di Maggio didn't manage to seal the GC like he wanted, but looking at the startlist, I still think he has a good chance of winning it. It will be tough for Reimer and Ventoso to be in the top three on a flat stage like the last one.

Disappointing for Gazelle. Pozzato should have made that group, and the GC would have been wrapped up for him.
Interesting finale now with Reimer and Ventoso in touching distance... assuming the break can even be caught.

That was a great stage! Some big differences, though! (luckily, sometimes the gameplay on the Willunga Hill is just a mass sprint, in my experience) |

I liked the splits caused by Willunga. And I really enjoyed seeing Dyachenko in the break. 4th today and 19th in GC is not great, but at least we don't leave Down Under empty handed in terms of points.
Have great expectations for Matthews tomorrow though and really hoping we'll make a sprint train for him and that he can gain a podium in the end. Would have been great to see! |

Good ride from Meyer and Haas. Frustrating to see Meyer being 6th, with two riders from the break in head of him, given that this is a top five goal...

This was a good stage for my the team, Chiarello in the break and get a few seconds in sprints and make it to the top20 GC even with the top 5 of the stage.
And really McEvoy to be a pleasant surprise, the top10 GC seems to be guaranteed.
But this stage turns out to be a bit disappointing as we do not expect to see the break coming to an end in front, Some of the favorites ended up not live up to expectations

I'm happy with the stage today. Daspuntsag did well and remains in the top 5 on GC...Just!!! Maybe tomorrow he can get a bit of mountain points and maybe take the KOM

Di Maggio proving his class, despite this being a breakaway party, congratulations to Margh Norway!
Feel sorry for Risa - Ergon, who are looking to fail their goal due to breakaway riders.
I think a win on the final stage will make this a good race for Impey as well, as it looks to take him back to the top 5 in the GC, which you must say is pretty decent for a 73 hill rider riding both hilly stages without the leader's jersey. And it would be cool to see him win again, so here's for hoping.
And thanks for the nice reporting all the way through, roturn. |

After a Stage 4 that was a total disaster, AMEX-Navigon pulled it together for a really strong effort on Stage 5. Matthew Busche got into the day's breakaway and held on for 2nd place on the stage while the GC contenders were content to play cat and mouse with each other.
MehrWinge-Wenige is in 10th place in the GC and Busche's breakaway effort lifted him from 56th after Stage 4 to 17th in the GC.
With the elimination of 3 of our 4 sprinters (Nizzolo, L. Keough, and Daniel Klemme), AMEX is left with just Paride Grillo's, so it is unlikely he will do well. We will just have to gut Stage 6 out and hope for the best.

Ventoso has a shot to steal on the final day.
Looks like his stats decrease won't matter as much as it should with Van Stayen leaving the division.
