It's been a while since we reported from our races so here a short flash-back about what has happened since the last update:
We could celebrate some more great results to add to our already impressive palamares. Here are the top results of the first four months of professional racing:

All results can be found in post #4.
Of course, this impressive strike of good results gave us a huge jump in the rankings. Suddenly, the other teams fear us as a promotion rival. These were the standings just before the Istrian Spring Trophy:
1 | 3 | | Team Vontobel | 885 | 2 | 5 | | Team TomTom | 685 | 3 | 14 | | Evonik - Signal Iduna | 653 | 4 | 22 | | Risa - Ergon | 644 | 5 | 1 | | Grupo Nutresa | 624 | 6 | 6 | | Fletcher-Garneau | 580 | 7 | 7 | | Bonsucro | 574 | 8 | 4 | | Team ASDA-Savers | 529 | 9 | 12 | | Bank of Ireland - Irish Cycling | 505 | 10 | 11 | | Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo Cycling Team | 502 | 11 | 2 | | In-n-Out Racing p/b Auchan | 494 | 12 | 16 | | Azteca-NBCSN | 486 | 13 | 13 | | Team Nordeus | 381 | 14 | 9 | | ONCE-Eroski Cycling Team | 376 | 15 | 8 | | Siam Cement - Lenovo | 370 |
The projected rankings differ only slightly from that!
Of course, one rider (not even Geschke) can do that single-handed so here is a quick overview of who brought us how much points:
Place | Last Name | First Name | Nation | Points | Race Days | PPRD | 3 | Geschke | Simon | | 244 | 14 | 17,43 | 39 | Saramotins | Aleksei | | 83 | 39 | 2,13 | 50 | Joeaar | Gert | | 70 | 28 | 2,5 | 63 | Dupont | Timothy | | 56 | 36 | 1,56 | 87 | Stoltz | Yannick | | 43 | 24 | 1,79 | 93 | Edmondson | Alexander | | 40 | 29 | 1,38 | 99 | Boivin | Guillaume | | 38 | 31 | 1,23 | 113 | Vosekalns | Andris | | 27 | 40 | 0,68 | 130 | Willwohl | Willi | | 23 | 51 | 0,45 | 189 | Bissinger | Florian | | 10 | 72 | 0,14 | 205 | Grand | Arnaud | | 8 | 34 | 0,24 | 237 | Hansen | Lasse Norman | | 5 | 16 | 0,31 | 238 | Bauhaus | Phil | | 5 | 51 | 0,1 | 307 | Teruel | Eloy | | 1 | 34 | 0,03 |
One fact might be especially surprising: Superstar Simon Geschke dominates most of our articles and is on #3 in the individual CT rankings but - perhaps for some - surprisingly, he is also our rider with the fewest race days.
After the Istrian Spring Trophy his PPRD has sunk to 16,05 PPRD.
We recommend to you to follow our next races:
Our two home classics are on the schedule. First up is Rund um den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt. The sprinter classic finishs on a city circuit and we can only recommend to you to watch the spectacle live on the course. Our very own Geschke tops the start list. He will get the strong leadout duo Boivin - Hansen again that delivered him perfectly to the line in Croatia. Also part of the line up are powerhouse Stoltz, Extra Leadout Dupont, allrounder Bissinger and talented Mager.
Exactly one week later we participate in the Criterium Hainleite. The unpredictable race can end in so many scenarios that you have to be prepared for everything. If the cobbles prove to be deciding then we have Saramotins and Dupont while Geschke is our man if the hills are more deciding than the cobbles. With Bissinger, Hansen, Grand and Stoltz we have a strong group of domestiques that could start an attack at some point, too.
Both races are very important due to more than one reasons:
- As a German team we want to deliver in German races.
- Both are C2HC races so many important points for the rankings are on offer.
- They are both sponsor goals of our sponsors as they want a top 10 from both.
Also in May are the Lincoln GP with Saramotins and Dupont as our leaders and the Bucks County Classic with Geschke as leader.
Stay tuned.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Gratz to the latest success and the great pusuit of Geschke at the Istrian Spring Trophy. This guy just having 14 race days really sounds like a threat.

@Margh Norway: Thanks. And i agree with you. Geschke has a close to perfect season so far so we can only hope that he continues on this level!
Of course, we found again some reactions about Saramotins for you:
I think the route should fit Saramotins quite well. Evonik before the race
Saramotins looks too strong after the 80km-effort Race commentator
I cannot believe this. He ruined the entire plan of my team! Goddammit. Bob (15)
Gratz to Evonik Team Vontobel
You can definitely be stolz of that win Yannik (26) - Evonik fan
Fuck you! Wes (9) - Cedric Lebris - fan
Fuck. A. Duck. That's amazing! Alexei Saramotins

Hmm looks like you'll be relying on Geschke for the remaining of the season. Lots of the same races, so will be a nice battle for the 10th spot(or more) between our teams.
Please don't forget to cheer for us.
Sorry, I can't do that right now.

Geschke should do well in those races. Also several races for Grand/Edmondson. So good luck on your promotion hunt. |

Gesckhe, Gesckhe, Gesckhe. We'll meet in all of your remaining races, hopefully Gesckhe won't win all of them

An update at last!
A few months ago I thought Evonik would be a shoe-in to go up, but some barren months have seen the team drop down. Still more than possible to go up, it all depends on how the team perform before that last race of the season by the looks of it. |

Jesleyh: Please. One has to support the cooler teams
Roturn: Thanks. Your loanies have already done more than I hoped with a lot of strong break attempts of which some resulted in a lot of points. And Geschke is of course always strong. Should I get one of those promotion spots then it would not have worked without your former riders.
Tastasol: That's how it works all season here. Considering we spent most of our budget on young talents we could not afford to have more than one real leader. And I won't mind if Geschke finishes second behind one of your riders in some races as long as Evonik has more points at the end of the season than teams like TomTom, BoI, Sauber or Siam.
The Rider: Yep. It was about time for another update and with the ranking update posted I had finally some stuff that I could write about.
You're right when you say that the first month were fantastic but it was obvious that we would lose a bit to the front teams because of the lack of some depth in quality. And you're right when you say that our last race of the season of us will likely not be a too big scorer for us. And even more scarily, Züri-Metzgete takes place after Tour of Utah which could see some big scores for our rivals .

Can`t remember a lot of Grand moments this year.
But Edmondson was indeed great. A shame that I missed to bring him to level 3 last year (just had him as stagiare).
Then he could have had like 3 or 4 Avenir`s being a great prologue rider/sprinter in the end.
But so you took profit from it as well.
Geschke obviously a top top rider in CT. Herald Sun at the moment looking good for him.

You're right. Grand hadn't had so much moments and when he was in a break it didn't succeeded. He was like the only cobbler to help Dupont/Saramotins though who did great. I'd say he could take some of the praises for their season, too.
But when I talk about them I mostly talk about them as a duo and Edmondson did great. Alone the effort in Great Ocean Road Race gave me more points from him as I hoped to get. So yeah...

The team management of CT outfit Evonik - Signal Iduna declared that their name sponsor Signal Iduna will step down at the end of the season. While main sponsor Evonik still has a year on its contract the German Insurance company will no longer be part of the team's name.
According to the team this step was long planned. "When we got accepted by the UCI we had to quickly find some sponsors to find the needed funds for this project and we are very happy about their spontaneos engagement."
It is not revealed yet if another sponsor will step up or if Evonik will become solo sponsor.

Good luck on the hunt for new sponsors . Will this potentially mean a substantial change in jersey colour for 2015?

ELKO presented as new sponsor German cycling team Evonik - Signal Iduna proudly presents ELKO as new title sponsor for the 2015 season. After the announcement that Signal Iduna will step down at the end of the season speculations have been made about a new co-sponsor. The team management ended this by announcing the new name: Evonik - ELKO.
The ELKO Group is a IT wholeseller based in Riga, Latvia. Founded in 1993 they quickly grew to one of the largest Latvian companies which currently have more than 700 employees and a turnover of over 1000 million US dollars which guarantees a stable, leading position in the European IT world of today.
Aside of the Baltic States Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, they also operate in Slovenia, Slovakia, Russia, Ukraine, Romania and Kazakhstan.
ELKO is very happy to have one of the most popular Latvian cyclists in Saramotins in the squad while also having as talented Latvians as Andris Vosekalns or Indulis Bekmanis in the roster. The contracts of Estonian Gert Joeaar & Slovenian gifted Mark Dzamastagic were also very appreciated.
Despite of the reported interest of Puma, Festina and Pokerstars we will try everything to ensure that Dzamastagic will ride in our team colors next season and we believe that we will have every argument to reach this. In case of promotion that is.

That's a good sponsor acquisition considering you already invested in some interesting Latvians!
For now, we'd like to not further comment on those reports, but of course there is not a single talent of Dzamastagic's caliber in the ManGame world that we don't have at least one eye on.
Although it would be no surprise if you retain all of your talents in case you promote, that would certainly be a deserved reward for your good first transfer season and some great performances your riders pulled off throughout the season.
We'll certainly have talks come transfer season simply because we share the major country of interest.
Furthermore, if there will ever be a situation where a temporary stay in my team will help a rider of yours more than keeping him, you know you're always welcome to hit me up.

No, if I see that correctly, just a German-Latvian team from now on?

Yeah, Cio's right. Evonik-Elko, I'd assume the main nationality stays German.
And clever move there, getting a sponsor from a region you already have a rather big focus on. Now you can just chase anyone you want, without fearing sponsor unhappyness.

@cio: Can't wait to talk with you about the transfers. There are a lot of potential targets at Puma and it will be interesting to see who might be allowed to leave. E.g. there's a loanee who could want to stay at his loan home...
@roturn: Sorry to disappoint you but cio is right: The team stays German and the only thing that changed is that the Baltic subfocus can be seen in the co-sponsor now.
@fjhoekie: I don't think that Ansons will meet my minimum requirements for the quality of my riders - especially when also looking at his age. But your lithuanian duo could be very interesting for me if they'll turn available. Puusepp & Greipel would also be more interesting.
@dippster: You've got it. I wanted to legimate my focus there.
