eh? UCI dumb rule no. #10005625626
2 groups in Team Pursuit based on Qualification ride. A and B group.
Only riders in A group can qualify for the final.
B group are riding to contest the bronze medal final.
So... A group is better than B group, but A group can't ride the bronze medal race?
At least that's what I'm understanding.
Dumb.

Losers in A group can - the winners in A go through to the final, all the others between both groups are just riding for a time to qualify for bronze race-off. |

Looked at the French fielding Bourdain in the Road Race so he could race a track event, that's a loophole.
As far as I know, Bourgain* was forced to take part in the road race so he could enter the keirin. Hindes was not forced to crash, he did purposely to take advantage of the faulty rule.
Not the biggest sportsmanship performance, but well that's the rules, he just took advantage of it (although, from what I've read, it doesn't fit in 100% in the rule - it says that "in the event of a mishap, the team must restart at the end of the qualifying rounds" - a purposed fall is not really a mishap).
But British Cycling said Hindes had been misunderstood because English is not his first language, while Olympic bosses said they would not investigate.

I now that, that's why I said it was a loophole in the rules, just like there is a loophole for Bourdain to be forced to start the RR even though he has never raced one, but they wouldn't allowed Cavendish to race on the track because he hasn't raced in a world cup even for over a year. Also Chris Boardman brought the exact same thing up about Bourdain. These loopholes need to be ironed out so it is fair for everyone and if they are going to allow a track cyclist to ride on the road, allow it for the other way around, instead of one way.

Does Bourdain ride his bike like Bourdais drives an open-wheel single seater, or does SeaBass ride like Mickaël Bourgain on a track bike ? |

One more WR for the Brits. The women have just beaten Women's team pursuit world record.
Small margins and working on cadence, can't see another explanation.
edit : has no moderator noticed the message here above is most likely a spam robot's ?
edit2 : WTF ? Macca's in the stands. I had no idea he had an interest in cycling ?!

I love how things have changed from "all mediterranean and hispanic riders are doped to their eyeballs" to "all British cyclists are surely juiced up"
Actually, as one of the many experts on the reliable Sky Doping thread informed us: "every professional cyclist is doped"... Which would explain a few things. |
