Pretty spot on by The Inner Ring:
The Giro is: the Tour. As great as this year’s Giro has been, Contador’s win is being viewed as a stepping stone to the Tour de France. He’s yet to win the Giro but already the talk in Sestriere was about his chances for the Tour, recovery and more. It’s a problem for the sport when triumph in such a wonderful race is celebrated but chased by questions of what comes next. Does tennis view a victory at Rolland Garros for its significance for Wimbledon? |

Because casuals rule the world. The Tour is what the mass want and therefore naturally there all the talk goes. The Giro and the Vuelta is (still) getting bigger and more known to the rest of the cycling world. Should just applaud that instead
Also, in this exact case, Contador himself has been very adamant about the Giro-Tour double the whole year. Had it been Hesjedal, Aru or whoever who had won, it clearly had been different in terms of how the victory was/will be covered
edit: 18 riders inside 1 hour? Holy shit, proves how hard this race has been and to some extend, how relatively weak this field is.

The gap keeps increasing, this isn't the Giro's clock going crazy again? If not Keisse has got it.

There's got to be something on the road, 5 - 10 punctures just like that?

This Giro, amazing. Even today it's good for a surprise.

Tram tracks with about 100-200m to go. All the punctures seem to occur when they ride past it.

Finally Trek getting to the front. Not being tactical about the points jersey, though.

Wow! The breakaway is going to take it all the way. Amazing. I love this type of unexpectable breakaway victories.

Yeah, first Russian Team, that won Giro d'Italia! Tinkoff was first who won Vuelta, and we are waiting for TdF!

Good job everyone. Nice to Keisse winning. Sad though because Kluge could have won the stage. |

Trek didn't want to ride so that the two guys infront could take the points instead of Modolo. |

Great to see Kruijswijk get 6th, at least a position he deserved more than Zubeldia the 2nd
edit: ah they corrected it now, didn't know Konig flatted inside 3km.
oh well, good for mr zubeldia 2nd

This Giro ended perfectly just like it has been for 3 weeks: unpredictable.
Surprises til the very end.
Awesome job, Keisse. Just awesome! |
