From a very successful PTHC race to a horrible one. But we didn't bring our A game here anyway. Hoping for more breakaway wins, with preferably one for us.
Thanks for the reports Abhishek

Awesome to see Hansen getting in the breaking and ending up with a podium! Plus, Lundberg stays in the KOM jersey, which hopefully he goes hard for in the mountains coming up.

That's a win
They say the best wins are the unexpected ones, and this one surely is. Beltran outsmarting Gesink, Herklotz, Yates and the other contenders wasn't to be expected, especially considering his earlier efforts in this race. That only makes the win sweeter
It also moves him close to a top 10 overall, but for that to happen he needs good legs on the mountain stage as well, as he will loose lots of time in the TT. But for now, we can only celebrate the stage win.
And thank you for the report, AbhishekLFC. For some reason they're much more enjoyable now compared to the first stages |

Well. Breakaways won't bring us much success here If our season would have been better, I would be thrilled to see my guys trying so often, but as it stands now, it's quite frustrating to always pick the wrong breaks or being dropped from winning breakaways..
Dyball also losing two spots, ain't fun at all. He will hopefully on a good day in the mountain stage though. A minor Top-20 result would be at least something. And Dion Smith: you are allowed to try joining breakaways again. You're still not too far behind in the KoM competition!
Thanks for the reports!

Yeah, I really just give up on this race. Worst race I've ever seen from our team.
At least it's good to see another Norwegian team doing good. Congrats on another stage win, ember! Great ride from Beltran.

Another upset. I've brought Antunes and Borges here with the intent of protecting him in the hilly stages. I figured that if the AI didn't assume they were domestiques that they would become relevant stage hunters.
Reis' race starts now but +8 min of deficit is brutal...
Nice to see a cool rider like Beltran take the win though, congratulations ember!

Well, at least there was some visibility there... and that valuable XP!

Chiarello overtook the hills with mastery, now let's see what he is able to do on the mountain and if the final top10 is possible.

The next stage is the mountain stage, so I expect some action there.

Despite how bad our team is, I still think we could be doing better here, which is frustrating.

Two top 10 stage results for Vakoc in a row! Unbelievable!

I guess I'll take second and extending the lead in the points rankings.
Two stages left for Gesink not to crash and 2 other potential wins so I'm really looking forward to the last stages of the race
And it's a real shame Herrada crashed (I think) in the third stage. He could have ridden a very good GC here. Hopefully Boswell will hang on to a top 20 place, but it will be pretty hard.

Funny how Nepomnyachsniy is doing really well at this race for a third consecutive time, top 5 within reach.

A pity we didn't benefit from so many breakaways here
Dyball though could do a Top 15 in the TT. Praying for a solid daily form.

Teuns doing exactly what I hoped for after his previous breakaway effort. That's just brilliant, and the KoM classification should be secured as well as long as he finishes the race, seeing there's only one KoM sprint left in the race.
Clearly the other breakaway riders were a lot stronger compared to when he won a stage, but I must be satisfied with the stage placing as well, fighting well, and also holding off Herklotz and the other favourites at the finish line. Congratulations on the stage win, Marcovdw!
Beltran moving up to 9th is decent, but not more. And seeing Kangert and Chiarello behind him, he will surely drop again in the TT, at least to 11th place overall. That will be much less than hoped for pre-race, but at least we've made it a decent race anyway, assuming Teuns finishes the race.
Teuns could also be able to do a GC top 20, eventhough he also should slip down the classification in the TT. But what a race it has been from him nevertheless |

Just had time to read through the Portugal reports. Really a nice read and a nice fight for 1-2 between Gesink and Herklotz, though none really any stronger.
But a more impressive fight for the remaining podium spot. Keinath so far looked superb with lots of unknown skills by him. Though Yates now with a big day and being in better position.
The ITT should decide both decisions there.
A pity I wasn`t able to race here. Dekker probably could have gone for 3rd minimum or even attacking the 1-2 while more likely I had send Olivier though, who would have fought for the 3-5 area.
Definitely a fun race to follow as non participant.
Trying to read throug the other latest reports as well soon. In 1-2 weeks time I surely will be less busy at work and should find more time again. |

A shame Gesink didn't have the opportunity to fight for the stage win here. I guess he has to win the TT now

Dear Man-Game,
Next time you take a dump on my face, at least take the decency to offer me some paper to clean it off.
Yours sincerely
