They should take someone who'll train him in downhilling. F.e. Belkin has a Spanish guy who learns the riders the 'trick' to go downhill.

The problem isn't that he doesn't know how to downhill. The problem is that he's scared to ride fast speeds downhill. |

The problem is, it's not about becoming a better descender, but about overcoming the fear of descending at high speeds. That's more difficult.
Edit: Zabel'd of course

Yes. But they said that's just a trick that you know how to do it. When you know how to do it you're less scared. At least, they say.

Psychologist needs to help him, not a trainer

Tony Martin wants to change his training plans next season. Reducing his weight by some kilos etc.
So he hopes to have more chances in the GC`s. In especially he wants to try to ride the Tour GC.
Not sure if this will pay out as he already tried it when riding for HTC, but surely he would have the potential to improve a bit on his climbing even though not necessarily at the Tour. |

He would win the Tour and he would start winning TT's by over 5 minutes. |

I'd say EBH-syndrome would be more likely, given that he's not British.

I doubt that he will leave OPQS.
He just uses a different training program and will concentrate less on TT and more on GC stuff. |

Allow me to rephrase, pedant!
Not from an English-speaking country. But luckily never going to happen anyway, as roturn says.

Probably great for one-week races.
Though it's sad in a way, he's such a TT beast, on his way to become legendary. |

Martin? He decided GC, then went back to TT only, now he's going back? Did he say so?
Don't get me wrong I think it's the right decision, but pick a thing dude.

Now I hope that those who know me a little, will know that I am not one to point un-due fingers at riders without facts... or at the very least a shady rumour I heard from a lady on the high street.
However, I thought it fitting to place upon this website a couple of links.
The first person to shake their head, and sigh, in a despondent manner, wins the groovy prize of joining me in my pit of despair at our sport.

Side note: All it takes, is to extrapolate Asia into Europe, and certain teams into US Postal, and you can look back in time to see the state of affairs 10 years ago in Europe.
What would you do if you ran cycling? Not quite so clear cut.

Verbruggen wants to expand cycling to asia so he can pocket millions, hence no testing.
The guy who writes that blog, is he anonymous?

Nope, if you click the about button he identifies himself.
I assume the Asian scene is like the U23 scene in Europe, not enough money or interest in proper testing, so it is easy to get away with doping.

Lee Rodgers. Seems to write far more openly than other journalists. Perhaps because he is an actual cyclist. And because he seems to know whats going on. Not just about drugs, but race tactics, training, etc.
Also he mentioned a drug I'd never heard of before: S107. https://www.ergo-l.../s107.html
Released in 2009. Still no test. Available to purchase. |
