Tour d'Algerie - Discussion

Epic race, battle was hard! Wonder if all the mountain stages would look like this! Shock

And yet another succesfull race by Iberia, goddamit!

Surprising finish there. Pretty much like it when the mountain stages are less predictable than with PCM09 or older versions.

Arroyo should still manage to bring his team the needed points later.

Great race and a great report!
Congrats to Iberia and MTN, well done.
I'm very happy with my riders, protecting Talabardon earlier was a smart move, thanks guys. And Carrara, he's a monster, in the first stages set up all the time the sprint to Dekkers and now finishing 7th, just fantastic!
I said earlier i wait for a stage win and a top5, the stage win didnt come, but the other results overwrite my biggest hopes. Thanks and thanks.

I hope the next stage races and classics come in this level, this was very-very excitingWink

Mestre losing 5 minutes... Not good...

Anyway, stage win, 3 podiums, green jersey and 2nd in KoM is pretty damn good...

Great! Grin Smart tactics by Moreno staying calm and following Marzano. Was hoping he could get the stage win in the last km but great job by Rodas and congrats to Aidan. Great to see an African team taking a stage win. And also happy that Fernandez Oliveira finished 11th. Proves the depth and support.

I am quite satisfied with the performance of my team. Cabreira was better than I expected, and the Galta was a total surprise ... Could not ask for better

Wow, thrilling stage and great performance by Rodas!

It was a cool Tour to follow as neutral spectator; well done Alakagom. And congrats to Iberia for winning yet again.

A little disapointed for Marzano. Knocked out Arroyo, and still only ended third.
Have to give credit to Maisto and Kiserlovski though. Both ended higher than expected, and give us some valuable points.

Started to get a big distaste for the MTN-team. Not only are their jersey way to similar to ours from a distance, now they also beat us in important races.

Rankings

Jaguar close the gap to Sram, while Iberia's 2nd race victory out of 2 puts them in 3rd and into the CT lead. WWE picked up a handful of points here, and they go 5th.

Allianz and Adira continues their useful starts with 30+ points from 3 different races so far, while MTN, Privatbank and Kappa all make strong starts to their season.

Rodriguez and Moreno will not ride untill Galicia now so the results should be a bit less from now on. But Sanchez and Lay should still get decent points for me.

Allianz is following very well. Only 20 points down with no real stand out performances. Slowly taking points everywhere with good all around depth. When Maes starts to race, I'm quite sure they will overtake me.

Firefly21
Two early favourites for promotion off to very strong starts. Iberia already outpacing the pack and Allianz with strong performances and they haven't even had any racedays from Maes yet. I know its early in the season but it might be difficult to catch up to those two teams. Adira performing well, though they should be expected to in having DMW in a lot of the early races; they will need more secondary scoring to continue to stay up at the top.

Thanks for the update SN!

FroomeDog99
Methinks we are going to be down at the bottom of the CT at about halfway due to lack of leaders racing and it'll be tough to catch up, and Martinez completely failing is not a good sign
Anyway, even if we fail this season I still got Plan B... Cool

*looks at plan b and gives an evil laugh*

First Tachira last year and now Algerie this year - Rodas seems to just specialise in long-range attacks which can get him a stage win. What a race and incredibly well reported.

Rodas does seem to do well in early season races (for no reason whatsoever by the way). I recall two years ago he did pretty well in Tachira the year before his now much reported on Tachira leaders jersey run.

This result reminded me of early mountain stages in grand tours in that a decent climber (but not the best) was allowed to dangle a minute in front while the favourites played pattacake behind. The difference here was that this was the finale and you have to say Arroyo massively underwhelming here. Could it be he just had a negative daily form day?

I notice that Rodas, Moreno and Marzano have decent resistance stats to back up their climbing (though nowhere near as good as Arroyo of course), along with decent accelerations.

An exciting and very interesting race great first reports Alakagom.

Pretty sure my guys waited for Soupe and Privatbanks top climbers waited for Polivoda which didn't matter too much on this stage as they wern't expected to be near the front but will be intresting to see if a Sprinter is in the lead in another tour and has a top climber if they will wait or not.

Happy enough with the 9th and 14th position. I was expecting also collecting some points in the stage with Nieve (8+ position) but at least our expectations are fulfilled.

Wow, very happy with Bakhin in this race!
10th in GC and + the white jersey is really the best we could have hoped for Smile

Great mountain finale in Algeria, congrats to mighty Iberia and all the others for their results. Very exciting report and outcome of the race, looking forward to the next mountains in C2, waiting for revenge of Arroyo. Smile
I'll be back
