Yesterday was far over the top. Went nuts for 20 minutes, then with 5k to go, 10 minutes of near silence as if the stage was already finished until they declared Contador as winner

OPQS was short of riders in the end and Modolo was just better. That are his own words.

OPQS rode in front of the peloton all day, so nobody left for a lead out. And modolo was a little faster on a slightly uphill finish

Cavendish is half a sprinter without lead-out you know Ian.
Nice win for Modolo...

I watched a stream of that and it was terrible. How not to stream a bike race. They had one camera on top of the hill and one behind the crowd. I couldn't even tell who'd won.
Nice finish from Modolo, though. |

New Zealand Cycle Classic (2.2) - 7.1km Prologue:
1. Joseph Cooper (NZ)
2. Campbell Flakemore (Aus)
3. Darren Lapthorne (Aus)
4. Malcom Rudolph (Aus)
5. Joe Lewis (Aus)
Good result from Cooper, now riding without a team after Pure Black racing folded. Definitely one of the more interesting riders coming out of New Zealand.

Hey Count Joseph Cooper signed for Genesys Wealth Advisers after Pure Black folded, rode with the team @ The Sun Tour. He is having a great start to the season

So Diniz should get a stat update in the Daily DB
Kwiatkowski is developing into a multi-talent, not as much as Moser or Sagan though.

Alex Diniz, wtf! Completely forgot about the stage. Well, the team's director had said in an interview some days ago that Diniz was going in great form for San Luis and would be team leader, but still... did somebody tell him there will be anti-doping tests in Argentina? (he's tested positive for EPO in 2009 and got a 2 year-ban)

Good job for Kwiatkowski. Tomorrow is the TT, let's see or he can get that leaders jersey.

Wait for his positive first
Guess January is a difficult time to predict futures, but he's faring pretty well, and comparisons to Sagan and Moser are unfair, you can't compare every football player to Messi.
And I think he has a better TT than both.

I don't mean he's got the same qualities, only that he is pretty allround (for example Mandri is allround too), just like Sagan and Moser. First he was a TT specialist only, in the Tour de Pologne he proved his sprinting skills and now he seems to be a decent puncheur as well.

You're correct. Think he could become a very strong rider in one week races which feature a timetrial and hilly stage(s) where the mountains aren't too tough. Genre Eneco.
