It just bothers me that its the Tour of ITALY but it starts in Denmark.
Of course if it ever comes to Canada, I will take this back.

Ben Swift is out of the giro. Fractured his right shoulder on a training ride. He's replaced by Jeremy Hunt

I cant see somehow Gustav Larsson making top 10 neither Rujano winning the Giro. Larsson is going too lose IMO to much time in the mountains and Rujano is going to lose to Scarponi and Basso 2 to 3 min in the Prologe, TTT and the last ITT.

But Rujano is a reasonable TT'er. And he has Savio on his side. |

Im not saying he is the worst TT'er ever. But he will lose time in the TTT for sure. In his Team are good climbers but for Time Trial they are not the best ones. In the TTT they are not going to be in the top 6 for sure. I dont think they are going to be faster than Astana, BMC, GreenEDGE, Lampre-ISD, Liquigas-Cannondale or Sky. And in the last ITT I dont think he is going to do it better than Basso or Scarponi. But maybe Im wrong. Who knows...... |

Androni finished 4th in the Trentino TTT, ahead of both Lampre and Liquigas. I promise you, that team is very strong. I think they'll beat Lampre again.

Wind played a major role in that though, most late starters suffered from it. Still, the point stands, neither Rujano is so terrible in the ITTs (he's no Gadret for instance) or Androni sucks so bad in TTTs.

Wonder why I thought it was the Tour... anyway, if they want exiting stages why not have a few in Columbia? And they can go to Belgium for some of the more "intermediate" stages. And since they are going to Belgium maybe they should just go to Holland aswell? I mean, it's so close! Oh, and why not France? They have some of the best mountains there and so do Spain!
I think it's a good idea! First a few in Belgium, then Holland before a rest-day where they travel to Columbia for some exiting climbing! There are probably some flat roads there so you can have 6-7 stages there. Another restday after that where they travel to France to climb a bit more + a few medium ones on the way to Spain. After climbing some more there, they finish of with a time trial trough the streets of Milan.
What do you think?
I think it's stupid. I don't have a problem with just touching other countries a little, but your idea seems more like the Tour of Europe than the Giro d'Italia

Swift out of Giro with a broken shoulder in training. Hunt replaces him. This season isn't best for him so far on the road, few days after openly stating his focus on road and no track, really sucks.

Why do I need a smiley? I didn't smile when I wrote it. Or are you talking to Cactus Jack?

Actually you. It's just that I'm quite used to reading irony here followed by a smiley (or an emoticon if smileys need to be smiling) Because cactus jack is obviously being ironic, he's criticizing GTs taking part in rather distant countries, while your post does leave some doubts if you're taking cactus post seriously (at least to me).

I know he was being Ironic. I was just saying because other people were expanding on it likewise. But to get back on topic, it is the Tour of Italy, so I think it should only take place in Italy.

Random fact: Jean-François Naquet-Radiguet was only Tour director for 1 year, partly because he wanted to have the 1992 Tour start in Montréal

I am also not the biggest fan of starting the Giro in Denmark. I know it is great for the country, but i am not sure if it is great for the riders, who will not make it to Italy, because of dull and dangerous flat stages thousands of kilometres from Italy.
But some kind of Tour of Europe would not be non interesting project, too bad the race through the central Europe, the Peace race does not exist anymore, it was a good one.
