GP Moscow
Welcome to Moscow, Russia. Just like last year the Pro Tour peloton is here for a return journey around the Russian Capital. A 198.2 km almost completely flat parcour means we will most likely see a mass sprint finish.
You can see the race history here, and last years preview here. Now, let's take a look at the favorites for this years edition.
*****
Name | FL | ST | RS | SP | AC | OVR | Fernando Gaviria | 76 | 74 | 76 | 83 | 84 | 48,16 | Alberto Dainese | 76 | 75 | 76 | 81 | 82 | 47,5 | Salem Kemboi | 78 | 74 | 77 | 80 | 80 | 47,22 |
My special developed formula reveals that Gaviria, Dainese, and Kemboi are the biggest favorites this year.
****
Name | FL | ST | RS | SP | AC | OVR | Max Kanter | 75 | 75 | 73 | 81 | 80 | 46,88 | Caleb Ewan | 75 | 73 | 71 | 83 | 81 | 47,2 | Eduard Grosu | 73 | 74 | 70 | 83 | 80 | 46,8 |
However, the above three have all won the race before. Why shouldn't they be able to repeat the feat?
***
Name | FL | ST | RS | SP | AC | OVR | Dylan Groenewegen | 73 | 74 | 71 | 82 | 81 | 46,82 | Gabriel Cullaigh | 74 | 73 | 70 | 82 | 81 | 46,82 | Kristoffer Halvorsen | 76 | 74 | 71 | 81 | 80 | 46,82 |
Three stars for Groenewegen, Cullaigh, and Halvorsen as they also have lots of firepower for when it comes to the final kilometer.
**
Name | FL | ST | RS | SP | AC | OVR | Barnabas Peak | 80 | 73 | 77 | 78 | 78 | 46,68 | Matti Manninen | 74 | 71 | 75 | 81 | 80 | 46,64 | Mads Pedersen | 77 | 78 | 80 | 78 | 77 | 46,64 |
Sure, we could name so many more sprinters. There's even several more with 81 SP left, but I've double-checked the formula, and the winner will be one of the above, if we don't see the breakaway or a late attack snatch the win. Speaking of aggressive riders...
*
Name | FL | ST | RS | AC | FG | OVR | Gasper Katrasnik | 81 | 72 | 76 | 72 | 81 | 47,55 | Taco Van der Hoorn | 75 | 76 | 69 | 66 | 84 | 47,1 | Ronnilan Quita | 74 | 75 | 75 | 74 | 83 | 47,03 | Alain Quispe | 81 | 63 | 61 | 74 | 85 | 46,85 | Torkil Veyhe | 80 | 66 | 71 | 78 | 80 | 46,28 | Goran Antonijevic | 78 | 67 | 74 | 74 | 80 | 46,23 |

Probably a nothing race for us.
Thanks for the preview.

Laughable to say but this is Manninen's last race of the season. A win here would still end up with his total haul being absolutely woeful - but I'd still appreciate it
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Once again we have to hope that we can get some points out of this from rouleurs and talents. The times when we got the threepeat with three different riders seem far gone...
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

I'd hope for a Vuelta redemption from Halvorsen, but his last race before the Vuelta was also a PT classic and that did not end very well Top-10 and I'll be happy! Thanks for the preview, premier league title winner.

"I've double-checked the formula, and the winner will be one of the above"
Very bold words about a sprinter's race, let's see if you can back them up. \
Hope AKA and/or Per can do something here.

Brought out A team here, except Berwick, who is here for the XP. As always, very excited and hopeful, as we really should have it all covered with Groenewegen and Kragh. If it comes to a big sprint, I kind of hope we don’t do the leadout, as we haven’t gotten it right many times, but rather use out flat beasts to position him in the right train and on the right wheel. If so, we could do great here
Thank you for the preview, Abhi! Really looking forward to see if the formula gets it right |

Let's see if Sanikwathi can mix with the stronger sprinters or even Quita can do something. Thanks for the preview! |

I'm hoping you're wrong in your prediction and that Jakobsen can pull something out of the bag! We could really do with a rather miraculous result so get our season back on track and I know he's capable of delivering that. He's got the support of Hesters and a whole host of youngsters who will surely be active!

That's not the result we were looking for here. Grosu's form has dropped lately which is not good with the Tour de France right around the corner.

Not the best result ever, but a top-10 with most of the names ahead of Halvorsen being better or similar sprinters is better than what we've seen in his last two races. Progress, baby! Depth could have been better with Ruiz only 40th, only thing to make him relevant will be to start project Ruiz in the off-season. Yes we can.
Congratulations ryant! Thanks for another nice report, Abhishek! And thanks for the preview to Caspi, as I didn't notice earlier that he wrote it

Seems like the formula held up decently as all three on the podium received 3 stars or more

Weird looking sprint, but in the end the favorites are at the top, so I guess I can't complain. Definitely wanted a little more than 14th from AKA, but it was a tough field and he at least soaked up a minor placing.
Thanks for the great report! The attacks were exciting.

We tried, but ultimately it's another failure. Could've been worse I guess.
Thanks for the report.

Unfortunately, the expected low score for us. Kurianov gets the low end top 20 that we have grown to know by now but thats about it.

Good to have Groenewegen in the top 5! We couldn't make it a profit to bring our best team for the flats, but Groenewegen still managed to get a result in the end, which makes for a solid race for us.
Congratulations to the podiumers, and obviously especially to ryant! What a time to be cycleYorkshire manager! |

Silly me believing that Groves actually is a good and well-rounded sprinter. If 15th is your best result out of 4 sprinter classics, you're definitely NOT a good sprinter.
Congrats to cycleYorkshire, Cullaigh finally does what he should do.
Thanks for the report.

Certainly a good week or so of being the cycleYorkshire manager!!!
Seems like every race we enter turns to gold This obviously won't last forever but it's great to see, especially since Cullaigh is joining in the fun considering he's been a source of frustration for most of the year.
Seems like the lack of a sprint train really aided all the favourites being at the front and then staying there as well so glad we can profit off our status for once in that regard!
Thanks for the report Abhishek!

Congrats ryant, what a fantastic win for you!
Really happy with 2nd, could be better but also much much worse.
Thanks for both the preview and report, Abh and Caspi.
