Coppa Placci
The Coppa Placci in San Marino will be held for the first time - replacing last year's San Marino Hill Classic both with a new name and a new course. It's an interesting profile for this C2 event, in which last year's "Hill Classic" would have had to be changed to "HI/MO Classic" - at least, the route looks quite mountainous and it will be interesting to see, if one dimensional puncheurs do against more allrounded puncheurs/climbers.
Plenty of opportunities to make it an action-packed race with four climbs in the final quarter of the parcours. With a hilltop finish on the menu, we may also see a thrilling battle on the final kilometres of the day.
The Startlist
The Favorites Favorites | MO | HI | AC | | Outsiders | MO | HI | AC | Di Maggio | 65 | 82 | 75 | | Jang | 76 | 76 | 74 | Gautier | 68 | 80 | 77 | | Kebede | 76 | 76 | 72 | Meyer | 69 | 79 | 77 | | Henao | 76 | 76 | 70 | Ben Nasser | 69 | 79 | 77 | | Seibeb | 75 | 76 | 73 | Teuns | 75 | 78 | 72 | | Wahyudi | 72 | 76 | 67 | Serry | 75 | 78 | 69 | | Kadri | 70 | 76 | 78 | Siskevicius | 73 | 78 | 75 | | Vichot | 65 | 76 | 80 | Mehr-Wenige | 66 | 78 | 67 | | Bostner | 74 | 75 | 74 | Teklit | 70 | 77 | 70 | | Lindau | 69 | 75 | 66 | Dieteren | 70 | 77 | 66 | | Grmay | 77 | 74 | 71 | Skjerping | 70 | 77 | 65 | | Tatarinov | 75 | 74 | 73 | Mendes | 67 | 77 | 64 | | Panayotov | 78 | 72 | 72 | Diggle | 65 | 77 | 70 | | Shapira | 76 | 72 | 77 | Gougeard | 62 | 77 | 68 | | Ruijgh | 75 | 72 | 75 |
Definitely an important race for all CT teams and so have a startlist packed with premium puncheurs: Di Maggio as the best on the hills and obviously with some pressure to deliver a proper result. As said before, the mountainous look of the race may not really suit him though and of all puncheurs here, he certainly may fear the influence of "mountain climbing" the most!
Gautier, Meyer and Ben Nasser as some strong opponents for Di Maggio - they all come with a slightly better climbing skill, even though they are not amongst the "allrounders" here: Teuns, Serry, Siskevicius, Jang, Kebede, Henao or Seibeb as those, who will love the mountainous touch here. They should be considered serious contenders for the podium.
Also Teklit, Dieteren, Skjerping or Kadri as puncheurs, who are better allrounders than Mehr-Wenige, Mendes, Diggle or Gougeard.. a few climbers hoping for their superior climbing skills to come into play: Grmay, Tatarinov, Panayotov, Shapira or Ruijgh.

Hopefully we protect the correct rider between Seibeb and Pibernik based on how the race is going.

After a way below par race in Grand Prix du Midi Libre - Ben Nasser and or Kebede must deliver a top result in this race

DMW and Tartarinov with chances for some minor placings from our visit to C2.
Hoping for an exciting and attacking race.
Thanks for the preview tsmoha.

No Edmondson?
Hope for good rides from Diggle, Siskevicius, Philips and Ben Nasser. And more. This CT puncheur field is too damn likeable

He was in Midi Libre, and there's a clash with Placci.
I guess that if the MO/HIL ratio is actually there, Teuns is the big favourite without any doubts

Absolutely no hope for us, but would like to see us trying in the break. Would be cool to see a good performance from Meyer.

Have I really thought my 77HI Gougeard or 76COB Domene may crush the field while planning 12 C2 RDs?
Top 30 here might be realistic goal

Yeh I was planning to get the win in that hill stage with edmondson (we got 2nd). Kind of regret my decision of not sending Edmondson here but I still have Haas and Gunman and both are strong...you never know

Dieteren should be a Top 10 contender in this field but he has consistently under-performed so far, so not really sure what to expect here! Maybe another surprise awaits like in Strade?
Thanks for the preview tsmoha

Lol that was one weird race, but we got 9th with Othman which is okay. Definetely not bad for someone who was picked last in the CT draft
Seibeb and Pibernik are huge a dissapointment though
Thanks for the great report Tsmoha and congrats to Campari

The boys didn't feature a whole lot, but Gunman did quite well with 26th.
Congrats to Campari and Rochetti and thanks tsmoha for the report!
Onto the next one!

Huge disapointment for the team and I think it's safe to assume that some riders will NOT be in our team for 2019 due to poor results.
