Sunpower Cycling Team
Sunpower S.A., founded in 2003 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, has become the largest producer worldwide of biofuels and green electricity from biomass power plants. Through acquisitions and joint-ventures Sunpower has long expanded beyond Brazil's borders, with plants across the world, including the United States, Spain, China and Western Africa.
The company's CEO, Rafael Abreu, is a big cycling fan and has convinced the board of directors to form a professional cycling team to increase name recognition across the world. The Sunpower Cycling Team will be a new home for Brazilian cyclists, but should also have a lot of international flair, befitting a multi-national company.
Ripley, the team manager, is a newcomer to the Management Game, though he does bring a little experience from a year in the ICL. "There are many similarities, but also important differences. The first season will be learning the ropes", the manager said in a recent interview.
The jersey: Bright and colourful, with a lot of dark greens and yellows, to show off our proud heritage. Many thanks to hillis91 for creating the jersey, I may have tested his patience with my endless requests. Our bikes will be made by Raleigh, our wheels by FFWD.

I love this, best team name and jersey in the peloton. Cool to see Bonsucro's Brazillian shoes filled as well.
Wouldn't be at all surprised if you kick it off with a really strong CT season. Good luck!
Hopefully you can convince Heine to sell you Dowsett, the 80 punchuer who was in the CT not long ago.

I absolutely can't wait to see the sun stars in the peloton, and have to agree with trek: Dowsett to Sunpower or we riot! This is on a par with Philips Continental to Philips Pro Continental, or Philips back to Continental
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Welcome Ripley! Looking forward to seeing how the Brazilian project progresses over the years, especially in 2018.
The jersey is sick - hopefully the roster will follow! Good luck in the CT this year

Thanks for the kind words, guys! Once again, thank you, hillis, for our bright and beautiful jersey and the cool logo.
@Yellow: Obviously, we'll be considering all Brazilian riders in the game. Berg Cycles have the two best countrymen on their team, maybe they'll be willing to let one of them go.
@trek: Dowsett would be awesome, his internet fame alone would put our team on the map. Don't know if we can afford a HIL 80 rider, though.

Couldn't agree more with the people above; that jersey looks really, really good. Very fitting for your team. Good work hillis!
Best of luck with the upcoming season, should be a few half decent Brazilian riders out there for you to pick up.

First Interview with the new manager
Q: Bem-vindo ao Brasil!
A: Thank you! Moving here was a big step, but I've already fallen in love with the country.
Q: You've been in the ICL with Aviva for a year and managed promotion in your maiden season. Can Sunpower expect the same in the MGUCI?
A: Absolutely not! Promotion certainly wasn't planned in the ICL, I'd simply call it a fluke, the riders outdid themselves. And the MGUCI is a whole new beast anyway.
Q: So what are the goals for Sunpower this season?
A: It's true, we have to select some goals before we hire a team. One of them has to be a win goal and we'll choose the race on home soil for that, the Rio Vista Chinesa. The rest of the goals will be rather conservative. Overall, we'd just like to establish ourselves in the MG.
Q: Do you already have a plan on who to hire?
A: We do, shockingly enough. But since we don't have an idea how realistic our transfer targets are there are plans A, B and C in place, a combination of all of them would already be great, but most likely is Plan C only.
Q: How many Brazilian riders will you hire?
A: I can't estimate that yet. The best Brazilian cyclists are under contract with other teams and therefore will probably remain out of reach. Definitely there are several free agents we will try our best to hire, but the transfer period will be hectic, the situation changing on a daily basis, the final squad will be as much of a surprise for me as it will be for you. (laughs)
Q: Thank you for your time!
A: De nada!

In a stunning development, Sunpower's CEO Abreu lost a no-confidence vote at the last shareholder meeting after accusations of embezzlement. This was followed by a successful motion to stop the funding of his pet project, the Sunpower Cycling Team, which will therefore have to fold immediately.
Spoiler Due to unforseen circumstances, life getting in the way, I'm sorry to report that I cannot partake in the MG. What a shame, I was looking forward to it. Good luck to everybody!

Wow, don't do that very sad to see you go.
Time for the MG-UCI to step in and get into some talks on how to prevent this disaster from happening and offer a late hand!?
