Gronewegen, Démare, Hodeg and about other 30 disqualified from Scheldepris for level crossing while it was closing.. And face a likely fine and possible month suspension.. DRAMA

I doubt something will come of this, Boonen isn't involved in cycling anymore so he can say whatever he wants.
Besides, he's right. Watch the chase on Terpstra, he definitely not the rider doing the most chasing. Should the other riders bring back Terpstra only to lose the sprint to Sagan?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Tell him Tommeke, completely right

Tommeke is obviously right. Sagan rode a tactically incompetent race at Flanders. Letting Terpstra go was very dangerous, still he let him go then complained. Also, in the last couple of races he didn't do too much work so I don't know what Sagan is complaining about.

This will most likely shock few guys here, but i also agree with Boonen. Stop whinning and start winning Peter, it is not fault of Quickstep or other guys that you and your team are not strong enough to dominate like they do.
What Sagan says was true in the past and we can see that at some points also this year, but it was not the case at De Ronde.

Who are you and what happened to Avin?
Just kidding. Wish you (and Peter) all the best for Paris Roubaix!

I agree with Boonen 50/50...surelly Sagan have to revise his strategy and lets go out too many words after races, but when he say he always tries to benefit from the work of other teams, that's not really true, Bora is constantly pacing all day long during classics, and in crucial phases Oss or Burghardt are always in first line. And when leaders are in front of each other is too late because QS are still 3/4, regardless there is or not Sagan in a group is not so easy reach collaboration between 6/7 leaders

Actually Oss was working for several kilometers when he was last man with Sagan, while Quickstep had 4 or 5 guys in the group.
Surely Bora is working a lot as well. But once the big men go solo or in small groups, Sagan is isolated as most leaders but Quickstep.
At that point surely to beat Quickstep those other big men would cooperate better.
That said, this is always difficult with different teams and sprinters vs. non-sprinters.
Hence they all would need to go risks and except for 1-2-3 times, no rider wanted to go that risk and hence lost the race in that situation.
Riders going risks sometimes are rewarded. Benoot, Pedersen might be named for example. Sagan might have tried to follow but not going all-in this season it seems, when he should.
So it`s some 70/30 for Sagan in the mid race while it`s more 80/20 for Boonen in the late, important race.
In short: Quickstep this year on cobbles is just damn strong and basically are pros vs. amateurs. |

Sagan should use Oss better then - I get he was wearing down/keeping off attacks but surely could have waited for the finale seeing he didn't make a huge impact iirc and could have been much more useful when things really kicked off.
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Tom Boonen speaks again, this time he claims that it's ridiculous to call salbutamol doping

Doesn't do much by just writing it, but I sincerely hope it helps into any kind of support in this tragic time.. There's no words to describe the sadness it is to loose another man, another person in these circumstances.. It couldn't be avoided
My deep condolences to all his relatives and friends, Rest in Peace Michael.
