Lillestrom GP
Welcome to Lillestrom, Norway. A beautiful little town with a population of some 14,000 inhabitants. A new race on the schedule and we should expect an interesting day, where the riders at first need to get used to a challenging circuit around Lillestrom.
207km in total, the panflat parcours will feature a loop, that has to be raced sixteen times. The "Thalheim-Rodgen" cobbled sector features the most difficult level of pavé and we have a total 66.6km of cobbles here. Surely a race for the best specialists, even though we might see some few sprinters attending, who do not really love to ride the pavé.
The Startlist
The Favorites Best | FL | STA | COB | SPR | Rest | FL | STA | COB | SPR | Bush | 74 | 75 | 78 | 71 | Fouquet | 74 | 74 | 75 | 68 | Van Keirsbulck | 72 | 75 | 78 | 70 | Jérôme | 73 | 72 | 75 | 63 | Drucker | 74 | 75 | 77 | 74 | Harrison | 72 | 73 | 73 | 78 | Grand | 72 | 74 | 77 | 65 | Aulas | 73 | 75 | 73 | 74 | Vandenbergh | 75 | 74 | 77 | 61 | Gatto | 71 | 71 | 72 | 78 | Thwaites | 73 | 74 | 76 | 78 | Marcato | 72 | 70 | 72 | 74 | Lindeman | 73 | 72 | 76 | 74 | Matzka | 69 | 69 | 72 | 74 | Flaksis | 70 | 75 | 76 | 61 | Van Emden | 76 | 74 | 72 | 73 | Verbist | 76 | 73 | 76 | 57 | van der Poel | 71 | 73 | 72 | 70 | Havik | 73 | 74 | 75 | 79 | Horton | 76 | 70 | 71 | 76 | Lebris | 73 | 70 | 75 | 71 | Meersman | 76 | 75 | 71 | 64 |
A few of the division's best cobblers will love the abscence of hills here, but the top-favorite remain the same as in every C2/C2HC classic, where they attend: Bush and Van Keirsbulck. Both combining the needed skills (stamina, flat roads, cobbles and maybe sprints) pretty well. Without any question the duo to beat here and there's another big contender in Drucker. Loving the long races as well, he's the best sprinter amongst the best five cobblers. But surely also Grand and Vandenberg will love the look of the profile. A good chance to at least grab a podium result, it seems.
And then there's the fast finishers, who may hope for a reduced bunch sprint: Thwaites, Lindeman, Havik and the recently succesfull Harrison as the most promising riders amongst those. Several more possible threats, if we see the big guns failing and also someone like Flaksis, Verbist or Fouquet can do some damage on a very good daily form. They will all have to hope for the top favorites to disappoint though, as the amount of cobbles kilometres certainly won't allow a "Thorsen" (who's actually attending here as well) to win the race.

Perfect Stijn profile, if he's to actually do something now is the time. Severe lack of Per in the rest column, but asides from that another great preview tsmoha, very much looking forward to the report!

In Drucker we trust. Fingers crossed! This race could determine the success of the month for us. Not expecting a lot elsewhere.

When you have a top 5 goal but you're not even placed in the favourites list Looking for a big surprise! |

We will have to look for a combined points output from Verbist and Gatto.
None of them close to a podium contender, Verbist with no sprint and Gatto with too little power on the cobles, but together they might just make a decent result if they stay vertical and have a good day.
Maybe Verbist ability’s on the asphalt sections can help a bit to save some energy, as durability will be a factor for sure.
Please attack from whatever group you are in at the right time, you will lose that sprint !!

Havik would have to pull off a minor miracle to stay in touch with the big guns this race, so hopefully he and Jerome can make up for the lack of higher placing with depth points.
Cheering for GVK otherwise, but Vandenbergh, Grand, and Drucker look to be very good competition. I'm refraining from mentioning WCC riders as they have been getting enough attention recently

Obviously hoping to take the win here. Profile is pretty similar to Faso in the fact there are very few altitude metes that GVK can use a leverage to create attacks. Hoping for a win but I think this is much more likely to go to Bush tbh.

Hopefully Arnaud can prove why we pay him the big bucks and get a strong result here, the team needs one and he should be capable of delivering better than he has been so far.

Final sponsor GOAL RACE (top 5) for WCC. Cobbled season has been a pretty major success for us, and if I recall correctly this is the final CT cobbled outing, so hoping to put the cherry on top of the cake!
Hoping that this new parcours proves a tough encounter, as there has not been too many highly selective cobbled outings in the CT. Hoping for Bush to deliver the top 5 goal, and perhaps maybe even more!

I hope that we will do well here, Thwaites should be a very good option here, just hoping that the cobbles aren't too selective and we can do our best in the resulting group sprint. A top 5 should be possible and maybe a podium in the best circumstances.
Good luck everyone

Pretty disappointed with 8th for Vandenbergh but in this moment I can't argue with a steady 20 (?) points, though one of the other three hanging around that group where Drucker finished for depth scoring would have been appreciated. Feel very sad for Drucker, he looked very strong, commiserations Abhishek
Thanks for yet another quality report tsmoha!

Are we going to count Benelux challenge as one? It does have a cobbled stage after all.
