Lots of racing for the PCT division. Up to 23 scoring opportunities on the schedule.
The C2 scoring is rather low for them obviously as it`s more a talent development program. Though the 28 points scored by Shimano in Southland are easily above average for a PCT team, though 3,5 PPRD still aren`t too impressive.
The sprinter battle in FBD Eire was won by Porto Prio as top scorer ahead of Valio with Netia and Spotify also doing decent. In Bayern the time trialists and puncheurs were given a chance to show themselves. Ayubowan did best but closely followed by Hugo Boss there.
The only other stage race for them was Corsica International and the only HC rated one. Coldeportes dominated there with Uran beating the top 2 stage racers. Porto, Karcher and UBS follow behind them with quite a gap! Not ideal for their promotion campagne to lose those big points.
Classic wise couple of big HC events. Netia in Strade Bianche, Aeropostal in Kandy Classic and Strava in E3 Prijs scored best.
The smaller points were collected by one of the underperformers so far. Meiji outscored the rest in Gisborne and surely hopes for a turnaround of their season. Strava did best in the cobbles, though only topped the scoring in Herning as Lierse was a bit better in Gent Wevelgem which is bad news for Azteca as their all or nothing on Summerhill didn`t work out in those two races. Scoring wise okay but too less probably for a one-rider-project. Good for them that he found his strength in the most recent E3 Prijs, though the depth of Strava outscores them again.
Then the randomness in Duo Differdange goes to Nowatek and Ringerike was dominated by Wiesenhof, who move up towards the promotion spots.
In March the cobbled squad by Strava was the most successful team with an impressive depth.
The stage racer teams though were high up there as well with Porto Prio as 2nd despite their latest struggle of Machado in Corsica. Their depth on other terrains though delivered them points everywhere including hte big points in FBD.
1 | | Strava | 513 | 2 | | Porto - Prio | 502 | 3 | | Coldeportes | 470 | 4 | | Novatek-Panarmenian.net | 380 | 5 | | Karcher - Adira | 372 |
The total rankings see the following picture. Coldeportes as strong March scorer thanks to Uran mainly go into the lead and pass Ayuobowan. The scoring by them is still good which showed the Bayern Rundfahrt, but race days were less and some races less successful as early season.
With Hugo Boss also in the mix as consistent scorer, the top3 looks super close and should provide a nice fight for the PCT crown.
Obviously other teams can still join them this early in the year. Strava as best cobbled team shows what depth can do in especially when comparing with Azteca or also Lierse, who are far down the ranking.
Some teams down there look in big struggle already such as In-n-Out, Compal or Indosat. Others such as Eritel look a huge surprise but seeing the consistent fail of their leaders, this is not unexpected. Normally the scoring should go up but they need to find their rythm of course! Aeropostal seem to have found they key as Rujano had a good month moving them up.
Relegated teams from the PT Meiji, UBS and also Wiesenhof still need a lot of scoring to move up immediately. Latest have a dominant puncheur in Flügel this year it seems and should have best chances. UBS struggle due to their failing puncheurs while Meiji should do better but Itami continues to fail and fail.
Also Telkom and Karcher could have been expected higher but still struggle to get the big scoring. Once all those teams start to turn around their season, the promotion spots could become even more interesting.
1 | 5 | | Coldeportes | 1090 | 2 | 1 | | Ayubowan! | 1053 | 3 | 2 | | Hugo Boss | 1014 | 4 | 3 | | Arrinera | 902 | 5 | 16 | | Strava | 873 | 6 | 6 | | Valio - DeLaval | 836 | 7 | 11 | | Wiesenhof - Andritz | 803 | 8 | 4 | | VisitUkraine p/b Nemiroff | 801 | 9 | 15 | | Porto - Prio | 800 | 10 | 9 | | Spotify - Haglöfs | 793 | 11 | 10 | | Banc na hÉireann | 739 | 12 | 14 | | Novatek-Panarmenian.net | 708 | 13 | 18 | | Netia - Norske Skog | 699 | 14 | 12 | | Team UBS | 691 | 15 | 8 | | Team Telkom for Africa | 644 | 16 | 21 | | Karcher - Adira | 599 | 17 | 7 | | Vontobel | 599 | 18 | 13 | | Flores - Ceitec | 583 | 19 | 20 | | Shimano - Siam Cement Team | 426 | 20 | 19 | | Euskaltel | 426 | 21 | 25 | | Meiji - JR East | 420 | 22 | 27 | | Aeropostal Venezuela Ciclismo | 405 | 23 | 17 | | Generali - AXA | 384 | 24 | 22 | | SanCor | 343 | 25 | 29 | | Azteca - NBCSN | 336 | 26 | 28 | | Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo PCTeam | 335 | 27 | 26 | | Indosat - ANZ | 289 | 28 | 24 | | Eritel - Sonatrach | 227 | 29 | 23 | | Compal-Merida | 219 | 30 | 30 | | In-n-Out p/b Carrefour | 160 |
The projected rankings look less good for Coldeportes, who belong to some of the biggest losers here just like Valio. Both teams used more race days already than the others. Ayubowan as the other team with such problem. Their PPRD is above several others.
Hugo Boss and Strava with the best here and so they both look well placed already and should continue.
Wiesenhof and Porto Prio will like this ranking a lot more as both surely have promotion plans already.
Visit Ukraine from almost relegated to promotion? Not impossible as their transfers went well. Also Telkom is favoured by this ranking as the total rankings hide their low amount of race days at the moment. Their big races are yet to come!
This also counts for Lierse. Their 19 race days so far look tiny in comparison and hence they look a lot more save than others further down. Similar for Eritel, where the PPRD is still bad but they will have a lot of opportunities to change this.
For Meiji and UBS the direct promotion looks difficult and also Karcher is far from their expected position.

Uran is back at his best. Probably one of the best buys this transfers and vital for Coldeportes. He goes up into the lead passing Froome as top puncheur.
Amador and Machado also up there despite their lower scoring on Corsica.
LLS the always high up there in PCT division constant. Not a big surprise really. Costa as similar rider also in the top10, while Lo Cicero as best sprinter and Summerhill as best cobbler still could move up a bit. Later surely needs to if Azteca wants a calmer season.

We took a serious drop. Don't like them cobbles one bit
I'm in awe of Strava. Shonak you're doing so well. 2nd place last season and now projected 2nd in first year PCT. Not sure you'll actually finish 2nd but still! |

Still looking very crazy for my team, and knowing most races the team did well in last year are still to come, quite late in the season with Ukraine, Portugal and San Sebastian, anything looks possible really. My choice of having Cunego doing hilly classics instead of many stage races, and having Nepom picking up points there with his TT-ability seems to be paying off. Kinda hope we do not promote though, I'm liking the PCT, and I would love to see Andriafenomananiaina gaining more experience with us in the PCT rather than to loan him out next year. Guess promotion would also be really rather ambitious, but you cannot deny the fact we're doing shockingly well. I'd take a top 15 any time though, just to meet our goal.

Same as before, the projected rankings look good enough, but we still need to earn those theoretical points. We'll soon have more of those mandatory stage races as well, so top 25 is still the goal
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Nice to take the March competition, a good recognition for the month we've had. In CT last season we were also riding cyclical, by scoring heavy in some months and nothing in others.. April will be interesting in that regard because we move over to stage racing on some massive scale.
No way we will finish that high up tho unless we actually start winning stuff one of these days but I'm glad that the strategy pays off so far. It's the same for me as with fjhoekie tho, to keep in the league and make the Top 15 goal is priority right now, anything else is bonus.
Sancor keeping their heads up down there but it looks to be difficult, whilst Generali is surprisingly low. Gratz to Stromeon for taking over the lead. Actually crazy to see them so far up there whilst Compal-Merida, Indosat and In-n-Out are struggling who were far better CT teams last year. Also great outlook for Hugo Boss, who are surely a title contender with Costa and Kump delivering well.

If Rujano and Duarte keep performing, and if Cabrera starts bringing points...

Summerhill doing his thing as brought us from the bottom, be we really are going to need points from somewhere else if we are going to have any chance of avoiding the drop this season.

Nice to see us going up on the rankings. With Brajko having had only 5 days so far this season he'll have plenty of scoring opportunities left. The cobbles on the other hand are not going as well as I hoped, as we don't have a single top 5 there. If we step up there we might even reach our original goal of top-10.

surprise surprise we had a good month....
The team is nearest the desired places but still needs to improve enough to make it possible to finish in the top10.
I was never one who found my team capable of fighting for promotion, so for me it is no surprise that we are in the middle of the table..
at individual level who would say that would be my second tier leaders to keep the team in the middle of the table... Nazaret and Vogt have been to the height given the competition and earnings in terms of salary

Rather dull since last prediction, we're still in the Top 10 predicted rankings and that is where we must be till the end of the season. Also lots of RD's getting minor points in the grand scheme. It will only get worse from here looking at the RD's, but really hope Roche and Froome are enough to get a Top 10. Having had no GC's and being this high, it can only be annoying to look back at missed opportunities.

Crap, it does not look good.
Even with Ahlstrand and Bystrom have raced a few days but doing less then expected, but on the other hand if just Ahlstrand could have done what he should have done we would be very close or even top 5 right now.
Still got races to improve. Lövkvist doing great.
Thanks for the update!
Quite a few surprises on the table so far! |

Much, much better than expected/feared. The pprd is extremely tight though, my team can't continue to fail and hope Flügel scores the points with so many teams around the same pprd

Summerhill: 326 points; Azteca: 336, lol. But we're used to it by now
Coldeportes first comes as surprise, Uran is definitely scoring a lot more than he should, Guerao limiting the damage and plus some little nice extras from other riders. Plus they also have Betancur that hasn't started to deliver yet. They won't promote from a top 5 but they could get really close.
Hugo Boss on the other hand is doing exactly what they need to nab that top 5, as are Wiesenhof imo even if Heine doesn't seem particularly impressed. Flugel kind of making up for Monsalve with those overperformances.
whilst Generali is surprisingly low.
Duo Differdange was the first race we had chances of winning and you know what the fuck happened We'll have all our best races starting with April.
Yet I'm still quite low yes. Ulissi didn't quite deliver yet - but didn't have any of his best races yet, Teunissen is not performing as well as he should and so we find ourselves here. Still the fact we're sucking but not in the relegation places yet bodes well for the top 15 goal
Thanks for the update.

Besides Ringereke (?) and Catalunya, we haven't actually raced in many races we've had a chance in/raced with leaders. Last year it was the mid season where we were scraping the barrel, this year it's the start of the year. I'm not really worried at all, basically most of our 'filler'races are out of the way now so here's hoping.
Thanks roturn.

I suppose it's fair to say that we've had a good start so far. March wasn't as good to us as February, with Bibby's 2nd in Bayern being our only race I came away from happy, with underperformances by Pinot, Gautier and Bellis in the other races. Still, we're not in a bad position in both the current and projected standings - and our streak of overall Top 15s stands at 12 races now, which is quite remarkable.
As for the promotion battle, I can't see us taking an automatic place. From here I'd predict the Top 5 to include Coldeportes, Hugo Boss, Wiesenhof and Porto-Prio, with the 5th spot anyone's game. However, considering it'll take consistent 20 PPRD scoring to finish in the Top 5, I doubt we'll have anywhere near enough - 7th or 8th is about what I'd expect. |

It's turning out to be an extreme version of what I predicted at the beginning of the year: Amador is the only rider I have scoring any points at all. My puncheurs never place in the top 15, and I would need them to if we were to promote. So it looks like I'll be PCT next year, but hopefully with some money for training! I really enjoy this division though so I won't be sad, just sad at the moment because my guys are getting terrible results
Thank you for the update, the analysis was excellent as well!

We're still sitting much higher than expected, but the 12th place from the projected rankings will have us celebrating as if we won the entire thing if we live up to that!

Wow, LLS 4th in the individual rankings, don't think we've had a rider in the top 20 before.
13th in overall and provisional is great, way above expectations at this point, although still expecting that we'll drop. Looking good for now though Only slightly disappointing part is our points are coming from our two leaders, given our third best rider is 99th in the individual.
Seeing Hugo Boss, Strava and Coldesports doing well is nice, great job guys!
And thanks for the rankings Roturn.
