EMERGENCE OF THIS PROJECT
The best stagemakers of PCM France wanted to gather their skills in order to create a Tour de France. It isn't a contest, it is a collaborative work whose aim is to track and make the best Tour de France variant ever. The method we use is based on discussions, points of view exchanges and debates.
The collaborative Tour de France by PCM France will emerge from this method. Nobody creates his own Tour de France, we build it together through our suggestions.
We try to find some remarkable elements for each stage (history, architecture, gastronomy, landscape...) thanks to our discussions.
The key words are :
- High quality of the tracks
- High quality of the stages (on the Stage Editor PCM15)
- Realism
- Pay homage and tribute to France (and adjacent countries), tribute to its History, landscapes, gastronomy, architecture, heritage ... Everything which makes our country so beautiful.
METHOD AND ORGANISATION
1. We define a global philosophy for each week of race
2. We agree about a general structure between each transfer (type of stage, distance, directions ...)
3. Then, everyone posts his stage (one by one) considering the previous one.
4. Evaluation with sportive and aesthetic criteria to reach a consensus (no vote, only discussion)
5. We search some possible improvements of the stage
6. We approve the stage and the modelisation on SE can start
7. Then, we start again for the following week of race
Debates and discussions are led by the active stagemakers because they will make 80% of the job.
ACTIVE STAGEMAKERS
- Grebiere
- Leon
- Samuel14
- Ursul
- Will_Valverde
- 40 LL
- Johostile
Everyone can take part in the discussions ! Feel free to come in our topic :

Discussions about the second week of the collaborative
Tour de France will start the 26th of December
_____________________
Schedule :
1. Before tracking the stages, we have to define the shape of this second week :
- location/direction (Pyrénées or Alps)
- prohibited cols and finish climbs because too much appeared in the previous real editions
- the number of 1st category and HC cols (mini - maxi)
- a ITT or not
2. Define the philosophy of the tracks, three by three :
We will split this second week into two parts of three stages for the discussions.
For both part, we will define the philosophy in terms of direction, profile, location ...
3. Tracks proposed for the stages 10, 11 and 12 => brainstorming
4. Same as previous (points No. 2 and 3) for the stages 13, 14 and 15
______________________
You can start to search your tracks
but discussions will start the 26th of December.
_____________________
Below, the active stagemakers who made the nine first stages :
- Will_Valverde
- Ursul
- Samuel
- Grebiere
- Leon40 aka toto40
Below, the presumed active stagemakers who can also make the next stages :
- ChRiS1021
- 40 LL
- vinzzz78

_____________________
Remind : we are looking for a consensus with the whole participants to build the best TDF variant ever. Nevertheless, final decisions will be taken by the active stagemakers.
Everybody is guested to take part in the discussions on the following topic :

These are just brutal. Highest class, and my God what time and work you have put into these stages. I tested 9. Lens/Musée du Louvre - Dieppe (189 km) and was blown away. So detailed, and racing it is even better than the pictures look.
I do hope this project proceed and gets the whole TDF eventually, but that will take time if all the stages will be this HC-class standard

Looks really good. Also, your simulation was very good; Sagan didn't win the stage in the Tour but got yet another second place; realistic. |

Screens are looking awesome, great work guys!
Love to see you making vertical adjustments to the IB's. It's sometimes an immersion killer when I wonder how a resident climbs (or digs) to his front door.
These little things can imo make the difference between a very good and an an excellent stage.
Keep it up! I'm highly optimistic it will be the best grand tour ever made on any PCM!

Yet another one.
This will set a standard few will equal and I believe hardly surpassed. Yes, as MarghNorway says, the handling of IBs is superb. Skilled stuff
I know lots play the game differently but surely this kind of work will open new ways to look and getting the feeling of a beautiful race. One thing one never experience while in the peloton itself
The only sad thing is the wait for this project to finally be complete and published. But who waits for something special
Best of luck mates

Martii :
Realistic even in the simulation
Thx a lot !
Margh :
Thanks
It's always a pleasure to read the opinions of such a legend of stagemaking. As we are limited in Cyanide IBs and as "home-made" IBs have poor quality, we must be creative and handle IBs like that. And it's truly the difference between a very good stage and excellent stage.
Thx for coming in this topic
Clamel :
Once again, thx a lot mate. Time is required to build the best tracks and make the best stages. Personnaly, I need between 40 and 50 hours to make a stage like that, I think Leon too. So it need time, and furthermore, there is the "immerged part" of the iceberg (all the discussion about the route of each stage, very interesting part).
Be patient, you won't be disappointed
General message :
Everybody is guested to discuss with us about the routes, it's a collaborative project. Most people speak English, and even, I would be able to translate into French. Currently, we are validating the route of the tenth stage and we are discussing about the eleventh stage, in Alps. The link to these discussions is in the first post of this thread
