At the moment I work on a Tour of New Zealand. It`s actual a rcompetive event including 2 races. One half of the peloton starts at the very North of the North Island while the second half starts at the very South of the South Island. They will merge for the final Criterium in Wellington on the 8th day.
As this is not possible for PCM I will make both races as single races ending with the same Wellington Criterium.
All routes and ideas about the race can be found on their homepage.
I don`t know when I have finished all stages. But try to be faster than with the recent Bayern Tour.
Tour of New Zealand - North Island Course
Stage 1: Cape Reinga - Kohukohu
Download
Stage 2: Omapere - Dargaville
Download
Stage 3: Dargaville - Brynderwyn
Download
The first 3 stages all take place in the Northland area starting at Cape Reinga and slowly going South towards Auckland. The peloton goes along the coast through the Kauri forests on mainly flat stages. Biggest hills so far on the 2nd stage with some tougher climbs.
Stage 4: Tuakau - Raglan
Download
Stage 5: Te Kuiti - Whakapapa
Download
While the fourth stage leads the peloton around the South of Auckland towards the small surfer village Raglan, it`s the next stage to be the most interesting GC wise. Despite looking harder than it is, it surely can deliver some gaps. The riders go up the Mount Ruapehu in the famous Tongariro National Park (also known as Mordor in LOTR). That said, the finish is far from the top of the volcano and finishes at about half time already at Whakapapa Visitor Centre. So it`s not only the climbers but also the puncheurs, who should still have chances to fight for the win.
Stage 6: Whakapapa - Whanganui
Download
Stage 7: Palmerston North - Masterton
Download
Stage 8: Behive Criterium, Wellington
Download
After going up the Tongoriro climb, it`s going down on the next day again and ends in a sprint in Whanganui with a late bump to offer a chance to attack. With 143km one of the longest stages.
Also the next stage with more than 100km but except of an early Cat.2 climb, it`s pan flat and another chance for the sprinters.
As final criterium the peloton is in Wellington on 6 laps a 6,6km.

So the Kiwis gets a full stage race now... Great
Something like combine Tour of Northland and Southland as it looks.

Northland and Southland combines only is the first 3 stages of both courses. So basically half the route. All the rest is elsewhere. |

One does not simply walk to Mordor, but you can take a bike no problems

Yeah! Can't wait for this. Meanwhile I plot a NZ GT and hope for one day to have skills to actually do it... Great work roturn!i
With you and tsmoha both working on NZ stuff we are spoilt for choice

Added 2 more stages including the clear queen stage of the Northern course.
@Jandal: Looking forward to it. Small country but lots of great mountains, areas to work with.
With the Tongariro National Park, it`s now indeed a bit LOTR tour. |

I have done a NZ GT for PCM as well. However, most of the stages are without any surroundings (cities, forests, etc), just the road. |

The Tour of New Zealand (Northern Course) is finished and all in the 2nd post.
Enjoy the race.
The Southern Course will come at a later date depending on my time. |

Also quickly extended my old Rund um Sebnitz classic as it will be raced next week as UCI 1.2 race with 2 more laps.

Took a quick look into your Sebnitz Classic as I've almost finished making the race by myself. Looks nice and works fine, but I guess they are riding the circuit the wrong way (should be counterclockwise).
Great work with the New Zealand stage race!

Thanks for that. Yeah indeed. Either they changed the direction from 2011 to 2015 or I had it wrong back then as well.
Would love to see your version of it as I guess it`s much better than mine anyway. Did not change the graphics from 2011. So the village is not the best looking. |

Nice move getting a "jump" over Auckland.
Getting the peloton on a stage passing through Auckland would have been murder mate. Almost like passing Mount Doom.
As I do believe a modern congestion horror spot.

Tour of New Zealand - South Island Course
Stage 1: Bluff - Jacks Point
Download
Stage 2: Queenstown - Wanaka
Download
The South Island course starts on the foot of Bluff Hill and goes North through Invercargill passing Invercargill Airport and the Winton Velodrome. Following the street finishing with some late hills at Jack`s Point.
The 2nd stage starts just a couple of kilometers later in Queenstown, known for lots of adrenalin events. Then after the sprint in Arrowtown, the toughest part of the whole tour waits for the riders. A really tough and steep climb at Arrow Junction with 2-digits slopes. It this point passed a descent and flat towards Wanaka. While this could lead to some selection, I decided to make it flat rated due to the long flat in the end. But being a hilly sprinter surely helps.

Day 3-6 are for the sprinters as well. A couple of climbs will make sure to deliver a KoM jersey to the break.
The 7th stage then for the puncheurs. But actually it`s not the hardest, so also some sprinters might go over it with the main group.
The final day is the same as on the Northern Route. A short criterium in Wellington, where North and South pelotons will ride together (theoretically, not in PCM).

Took some rest of stage making and now started a "more important" project before I am going to finish the South Island Route.
The Tour Down Under 2016 will be my next race. Here is the first preview of it.
Stage 5 (Willunga Hill) and Stage 6 (Adelaide Criterium) will remain the same. So I will just take Cyanide`s 2015 versions as there is simply no difference. The other 4 stages will follow in the next few days I guess.

3 Flat (1,4,6)

Stage 5
Stage 6 equal 2015 Cyanide versions!
"Prospect is back in the race in 2016 with the start of the first stage of the TDU in 2016. The Subaru King of the Mountain points will be up for grabs atop North East Road, Lower Hermitage, and the iiNet sprint will be contested along Williamstown Road, Cockatoo Valley."
"Fashionable Unley hosts the first of two Ladies Day on Tour events this year, along with the start of Stage 2.. Spectators will see the peloton glide through Stirling in the Adelaide Hills five times before the final sprint to the finish."
"Beachside Glenelg is up for Stage 3 of the Santos Tour Down Under, with this varied stage taking the riders through the Fleurieu Peninsula and the Adelaide Hills. The riders will tackle the famous Corkscrew Road for Subaru KOM points, before the stage draws to a close in Campbelltown, as always with fanfare and festivity."
"Cycling enthusiasts will test their legs on this ride from Norwood to Victor Harbor just hours before the professionals take to the road in the Bupa Challenge Tour. Local icon Norton Summit will take a starring turn before riders, amateur and professional alike, cruise into coastal Victor Harbor."
"The famous Willunga Hill makes yet again another appearance in the race in BikeExchange Stage 5. This stage is known to make or break the traditional leader of the race, with the overall TDU winner often being decided atop the Subaru KOM climb."
"The final day and the final stage of the Santos Tour Down Under will be fought out on the streets of Adelaide in a circuit that takes in Montefiore Hill, War Memorial Drive and sweeps past the Adelaide Oval. The little ones have the opportunity to tackle the start/finish stretch of the circuit along King William Road."

Already finished the race as it`s a small area only. Testing is highly appreciated as I lack time to play at the moment.
Download links and pictures in the stage db or in the post above.
Enjoy. |

I tried it out too, and it looks nice.
However I discovered another ground braking thing, I think.
It didn't work in pcm2014, and it thrilled me to have a check. Normally up to now the cobblestone sections have been the biggest problem with making pcm2015 stages work in pcm2014. But Australia doesn't have any cobbles, not what I can remember ;-)
It have worked before to delete the cobblestone sections and the desciption of these then it worked in pcm2014.
This time I was a bit curious if it was the Spline desciption itself that was the culprit. So I removed the two desciptions on the first race in the pcm2015 editor and Heureka.. It worked 100% in pcm2014.
Not to say I have braken the last barrier on why 2015 stages doesn't work in pcm2014, BUT the spline description and cobblestones are the biggest problems. IB has been mentioned but they just don't appear if you don't have them. Wallhouses could also be an issue, but anything close to new or different IBs doesn't have to brake down the stage.
I stick my head out and say the spline desciptions - cobbles are the major factors. Could anybody dissagree or perhaps agree ???
The new height thing could be too, but not sure if it has been used in new stages by the creators.
Whatever guys, as you can see the zcts files are important in this process.
