Geraardsbergen - Bosberg Discussion

Geraardsbergen-Bosberg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/profiles/c2hc/gebo.png

This is the very first edition of this one-day classic in Belgium, and is certainly one to watch! The race is C2HC which means that it will be a battle consisting of the best that some of the CT has to offer. For some teams maybe one of the most anticipated events of the year.

At 200kms it will certainly be a challenging circuit for the riders. It is by no means flat as there are many short but extremely steep sections littered throughout. The big thing will however be the prestigious cobblestone climbs. The course contains many sections of cobblestones, some on the steepest sections of the race. This will certainly be a tough challenge for the riders and should decide who will take victory.

One would think that a cobbler should take this one out but he will have to be good on the hills as well. A solo attack later in the race or a small sprint between the elites will likely decide the race.

I would have to consider pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sva.png Sebastian Langeveld to be the favourite here. He is not only the top Cobblestone rider who can go over hills but he has a strong team to support him. De Backer, Selvaggi and Dupont are his three main supporters but they are underdog favourites in their own right as well as Van Wyk who is a good domestique at this level.

The other big danger men are the duo of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/aks.png Eeckhout and Lindeman. Two of the top cobblers here both riding for the same team. Neither of them are too flash on the hills but Lindeman has a very good sprint and the duo will certainly put up tough competition for Strava. They also have decent domestiques to help out.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/cdb.png Østergaard and De Maar lead the third cobbles team here. Carlsberg will certainly be hoping for a strong showing here from their team. In Lilholt (73COB), Stevenson and Mortenson (72COB) they have 3 top domestiques and should challenge the other top teams for victory here.

Two of the predicted lower-table teams also have strong duos attending this race. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fxg.png De Vocht and Kruopis from the Australian team will be hoping to please their manager here. De Vocht may struggle a bit on the hills. Whle Kruopis is one of the better sprinters here, he will be hoping for a reduced bunch sprint. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/tt1.png Wynants and McLay from Team Type 1 will also hope to pull off a miraculous victory here. Both are pretty useful and Wynants should at least fight for a Top 10 finish here.

Win goal here, but I didn't like how the new teams decided to go for top cobblers. Joseph will need to ride the race of his life here!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Hope that Taillefour can somehow survive but I think that Langeveld will take this one anyway. Strava is quite awesome for the cobbled classics.

De Vocht and Kruopis ain't riding for the same team, even though their shirts look quite similar Wink

Langeveld or De Maar for me. Also Morkov looks like a good fit!

Nice preview and interesting race.

No goal here, but I want to see my boys taking as many points as possible. This where it counts and I'm sure they'll do fine. Langeveld for win please. Smile

Hoping that the cobbles won't be too tough on Kinney, then a nice result is on hands Wink

Tell me about it!

I think I'm ok with De Maar getting leadership here. He's the best out of the hilly cobblers and won Benelux. But I hope on the flatter cobbles that Ostergaard is given leadership, because he should really be sticking up there a long time in this race. if he and my other domestiques just drop and give De Mar absolute freedom, I'm gonna be pissed.

It might get boring, but Langeveld or De Maar again.

Interested to see how Polanc goes here, his first race for the team, he has no support here though.

Hopefully my cobble riders actually show up this race

Hopefully a top 10 is within reach with Aulas

Forever the Best
Langeveld is the biggest favourite

Got some nice riders here, but I don't expect too much, hopefully it comes to an elite sprint, where Gil or Morkov could be in the mix. Wink

Congrats Shonak, well done!

No mention whatsoever, the boys were too quiet from SanCor Smile

Langeveld/De Maar - as to be expected. Congrats to both, always nice to see your favorite delivering Wink

Thanks for the report. Any reason for no gaps listed in the results?

Would also be interested in the time-gaps if available. Gameplay seems to have worked well on this course with the majority of those to be expected making the front groups as the race developed in the latter stages - well captured in the reporting.

Nice win for Strava, and lots of points for Carlsberg with 2nd and 5th. Points spread out throughout most of the rest of the teams after that. Will be intrigued to see the CT standings at end of month after ToTME completes. Fablok have been hoovering up point from stage wins, but I think some others are also bubbling up slightly under the radar.

Ehm would sure hope so for them, as most of the teams here should be over a team like mine, since some teams focus on cobbles and f.e my team don't. Being over me for those teams should be pretty vital Wink

Yeah, great win by Langeveld against some good competition. Route suited him perfectly of course, and reading the predictions win was to expected. De Maar was yet again a strong competitor, Carlsberg really did good in signing him. I'm glad it worked out in a such a solid manner though. Langeveld did it nice on his own, but I had hoped for another guy in the Top 10 to take as many points as possible.

Thanks for the report jihardy

Wow, looking at the time gaps, Langeveld went mental on the last 5ks. Only De Maar able to hang on.
