Zuri Metzgete
i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/zuri_metzgete_zps872a4b7f.jpg

The Continential Tour's season concludes in Switzerland, where the Zuri Metzgete goes into it's fifth ManGame-edition. After being off the calendar since 2008 (where ManGame-legend Cunego took the victory), the race is back on the schedule since 2012. Gazelle took home line honours with Weening in 2013, where we saw a less selective race.

The 233km parcours is still a challenging one, featuring slopes up to 11%. Anyway, the final sector is flat and so it's the ever interesting question, whether we see riders going for succesful solo-moves or a small group battling it out.

Let's begin with the local heroes, who surely will aim for glory here: Vontobel and Sauber both with a special race. Finishing off the season with a victory on home soil - what else can be better?

Wyss and Hollenstein, as well as Lang (for a possible bunch sprint) are amongst the most promising riders, so Vontobel under pressure to deliver. Sauber will go all-in for Schurter, who is a real threat, too.

Hard to see past Kolobnev for the victory though. Also Passalacqua, Godoy and some more puncheurs will fancy their chances.

And of course there's Bole, who will prefer a bunch battling for the win. That said, he's not much worse a puncheur than the very best here. Vitoria, Golas and Lang though.. they definitely need a less selective race!

Who else but Wyss could take this one?
He had a impressive season and can finish it off big times in his home country.

Fonte, please...

Guess Bole will be my pick for the win here, as I don't see a small group riding away from quite a strong peloton.

Hoping for dry and clean conditions at the start of the race.
The city is already crowded by cycling fans.

Hopp Swiss, hopp Wyss!

What a showdown?
We've used the final circuit for practise pre-season, mid-season and the last few days. There is no reason not to be optimistic.

...there is still a chance to pass Jose Mendes and break the Portuguese CT-dominion.
I wouldn't be surprised if Marcel Wyss wins it by a minute...

...,but it is our top 5 goal and members of Vontobel's executive board will be watching. Are we able to overtake Siam and emphasize our promotion ambitions?
The race will literally determine the future of the whole team!

Will it be pleasure or pressure?

I really like Team Vontobel but I'd rather not see them win this. Pfft
I hope my three leaders Ito, Sayar and Poorseyedi make this the first hilly classic in which they don't dissapoint and save us that 5th spot, even if it's unlikely.

Quite an open field with Mendes not here. Have to fancy one of the Swiss riders for the win, Vontobel hold all the cards. Looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Guys, Beltran is here. Don't even try.

Last race of the season doesn't hold out any hopes for Alpina, not that it really matters down in the lower places of the rankings Pfft I think Vontobel deserve a home win here but it would be nice to see Nutresa emphatically round out their season with a win Wink The mighty Beltran may yet strike again...

Well Godoy is definitely our leader here, no surprises who will probably fall then...

Looking forward to the last race of the season. Wink

Lots of people saying Wyss but this looks perfect for a breakaway containing Mr. Fernandez to just make euskatels season even sweeter.

Should be a good race to sign off the CT season. I want to see Wurf doing well for Stobart but i expect the win to go to to one of the Vontobel riders. They've been conistently good on the hills and winning at home would be great for them.

Or let's hope for somthing random and a Nordeus win Pfft

We need 50 points to pass Evonik here.

Yeah right, we didn't even send Duggan here(out of racedays, gotta make choices). 11th it is I guess unless Toribio grabs a shock victory and some other TTT guy gets a Top 15.
Our hill domestiques have been lucky with attacks a couple of times but I really can't see this happen, although the field is not very impressive.

As I said earlier this week I expect to finish in that 10th spot. It's hugely unlikely that Toribio but perhaps Bekmanis will make a shock run here against his home team? Would been crazy enough so that i'd even loved that scenario Pfft

The startlist is one of the weaker ones of the season. It would have been the ideal fit for Geschke but unfortunatelly, the rest of the C2hC band wasnt looking good enough for this. So we have to watch from the outside.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

With Kolobnev leading backed up by two 74 hill rated riders and Golas in case of a big group, will be disappointed to come away with anything less than a podium here. Even have Haedo and Caethoven (sprinters with 67 hill) just in case race not at all selective (surely those hills too much though?). Only thing that can catch us out would be the breakaway bug - hope this is not tempting fate! We also have the stamina across the squad to cope with the race distance (this is a long one for CT!).

Vontobel the obvious other 'stacked' squad for this race, then Nordeus rider Bole as envisaged main challengers.

The predicted Swiss win then, but I don't think anyone expected Sayar in second or Bekmanis in 3rd. Will be very interesting to see how the rankings shake out. Thanks for the report tsmoha Smile

AI: as expected... Somehow ONCE outscore us there, however, we hold on to second place by 7 points, very tight. ToA and all leaders consistently underperforming have been the key reasons why we didn't win the title by some 150 points, but that is the nature of the game: the beast!

Massive thanks again tsmoha. Wink

Season complete! Smile

This was the best hilly classic of them all for us with Sayar coming 2nd and also our stagiare Rustom Lim scoring some points.
Still it was enough for Vontobel to overtake us by 9 points, so congrats to Margh Norway for securing a direct promotion spot. Wink
Also thanks tsmoha for another great report.
Now I'm looking forward to my first off season as PCT team. Grin

Told you. Pfft

Wyss was a great catch in CT. Congrats Margh.
