15 teams line up for these 5 very sprinter-friendly stages in Mexico, and thus we can conclude 15 team leaders, although you can argue some teams send double threats.
The front line is made up by basically the handful of top sprinters this division has to offer (likely leadout options in brackets).
Matt Rowe (Meenhorst, Brammeier) will try to strike after a bunch of almost ridiculously bad results so far this season and will rather look at his brother's second place in Gent-Wevelgem to draw motivation from.
Juan Pablo Forero (Arango, Angarita) needs less of a head start than Rowe when it comes to acceleration, but his train is known to shoot up rather late at times. Will the timing be well enough? Alpina can definitely use points.
Damion Drapac (Hawkins) really detests hills, and this is just not quite Qatar, so it remains to be seen if even the small rises will be too much. If not, expect him to challenge well.
Marco Guillen (Cano) has a slightly better pure speed than the other top tier riders, but if backup stats didn't matter at all, we wouldn't have to actually ride the races. Additionally, he only has three team mates here.
It sounds strange, but if he is yours or you want a good GC shot, you maybe better hope he doesn't take the jersey early on...
Only inches below those sprinters there are obviously a lot more riders close to their abilities, but let's make the first cut here.
Azteca try it again with their double header of Farrar and Haedo (Duque, Magallanes). It'll be interesting to see if they again tailored their strategy well around them.
Risa parted with some good talent in the off-season to sign Michael Matthews (Sutton, Cooper), and he certainly needs to perform in some way here to justify that. No doubt he has the support.
Kevin Peeters (Debusschere) needs a strong race here to calm down his manager after atrocious cobbled races recently, and despite his low paycheck, he is the obvious leader of Lierse this season.
Bonsucro look to continue their decent form with Maranelli (Aguilar, Araujo) and Aguilar is certainly one of the better last men in this race should they indeed decide to form a train.
Benoit Sinner (Aulas, Lemoine) could use some good results for once as well, but he needs some good tactics in this race to upset the best.
Another step below these 5, we can assemble the rest of the captains.
Rasmussen (Ranneries, Aistrup) comes off a great win in Middle East.
Opie (Renshaw, Briggs) has a good possible leadout but would probably struggle to finish it off if not on an excellent day.
Haddou (Frazer) hopes to be a successful rather than a wounded warrior (sorry for the pun) at the end of the week.
Chiquita try the Azteca approach with two similarly strong riders, but when their names are Chavanel and Bandiera, "strong" is sadly the wrong word in this field.
And last but obviously not least, we welcome two ProContinental teams at the start line. Despite their big name, the stat restrictions lead to them being rightfully classified at the end of this preview.
Project: Africa do have a decent outside shot with Rangel (Ben Youcef) though, but not more so than the 13 teams ahead, and Hornbach gives their young sprinters a chance to go for it themselves, but Groenewegen (Traksel, van Poppel) is arguably just that one year away from having the punch needed to win such races.

Hoping for the sprinters to deliver this time. This race has some riders, I'm closely following (Drapac, Matthews, Rasmussen) as they all have an Oz-history. Rasmussen should have some more problems than he had in Middle East though.
Would be cool to see all those three grabbing a stage each

Rangel has a chance to shine in his home country. He did quite well in the Tour d'Rwanda and I'm hoping for some solid results here too.

Why didn't I join this race? This is the race that should suit me best of all. Only flat stages, but without the incredibly stupid AI of the one-day races.
Meh, will have to gather my points elsewhere then...

Have created this race just for this season.
So I hope it will be a nice one to follow.
5 sprint finishes I hope. |

I was solely referring to the last stage he rode

Will be interesting to see how this relates to the Tour of Taihu Lake later on in the month.
We definitely harbour GC ambitions here with Manarelli in this race where the bonifications will make all the difference.
I can't recall the team putting together a lead-out yet, so I will be on the look out for Aguilar showing himself. |

Startlist perhaps not quite as packed as I thought/feared it might be so hopefully Forero might be able to get a stage win.

Well this is the biggest race of the season for my team, and I have sent everything I have to this. Farrar/Haedo should be as good of a Duo as there is, and the rest of my team is pretty fast as well.

Drapac! Great stuff to see our three former Ozzies all in Top-5
Would be really cool if Drapac continues like that. For the win!
