Profiles:

The Glava Tour kicks off soon, where some of the top continental sprinters and puncheurs will battle out five stages across Norway. This is the second time in mangame history that it has been raced, where in 2011 Estonian Rein Taaramae took the win for Ikea-Bianchi.

The profile includes four flat stages for the sprinters, and the hilly stage four which should prove decisive GC-wise. If the sprinters can hang on though, time bonuses could prove crucial. Regarding the flat stages, stages 1, 2 and 3 are pretty much pan-flat. Only stage 5 should pose problems for non-climbing sprinters, with a few climbs before a flat finish.

As favorites are concerned, we start with the best puncheurs as they have the best chances. Who else to begin with then, than i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/gzl_zps14c119b5.png Weening? Gazelle’s leader took a surprise stage race win in Galicia and is the big favorite to repeat that success. He also has a very strong behind him, with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/gzl_zps14c119b5.png Furdi, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/gzl_zps14c119b5.png Duarte Nardin and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/gzl_zps14c119b5.png Mugleri all very capable of climbing hills well.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Sánchez Gonzalez and his Ibeira troops will do their best to stop him though. The Spanish team has had a great season thus far and will look to emulate that here. He also has i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Valencia, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Blasquez and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Toribo as domestiques who should supply good support.

A third big hilly rider makes the trip to Norway, Italian i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ken_zps45e45b07.png Scarponi. He also has good support like the other two big riders in i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ken_zps45e45b07.png Failli and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ken_zps45e45b07.png Mori.

Those three are the standout riders, but there are more. Other names to look out for during stage 4 could be i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mag_zpsa8a946c8.png Ilias, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mtn_zps3dcc4d70.png Ngue, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/fcb_zpse1da305d.png Grau, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/bcr_zps86f2c872.png Jumabekov, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ekc_zps98eb3bbc.png Cioban, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/vtf_zps1d97281a.png Gingsjo and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/abc_zps288913e0.png Talabardon. Other teams will have to look to a break.

There is also however the matter of four sprint stages. Five sprinters stand out, discounting their climbing ability.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/bcr_zps86f2c872.png Guillén has the best sprint stat, and has a strong team behind him. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/bcr_zps86f2c872.png Morales and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/bcr_zps86f2c872.png Kopp should provide good assistance, maybe a sprint train could be formed?

CredexBank also has a great lineup full of sprinters. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/cre_zps8fb855ae.png Kanovsky and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/cre_zps8fb855ae.png Clarke could both lead depending on form, while i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/cre_zps8fb855ae.png Papok would be a great leadout man.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Lay is also here, making Ibeira have a top leader for sprints and hills. He does however lack support with his squad focusing on hills. Latching onto a train shouldn’t be a problem though.

The last big sprinter to mention is Dorpenomloop Rucphen winner i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/abc_zps288913e0.png Dekkers. Allianz don’t bring him lots of strong support but i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/abc_zps288913e0.png Havik should offer enough help.

Also, there are the sprinters who are not as fast as the very fastest but will look to achieve some top 5’s with some luck. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mag_zpsa8a946c8.png Speirs, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/reg_zpsf2e631b7.png Sutton, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/sbp_zpsa477b496.png Westling, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mcc_zpse0e8a92e.png Ciocan, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mtn_zps3dcc4d70.png Ben Youcef, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ekc_zps98eb3bbc.png Friedman and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/wwe_zpsb6c72e16.png Damrow are all worth a mention as they could pull off a surprise or two.

Not really an overly impressive team here, but I hope for a top 10 in GC and a podium on a stage, hopefully! Grin

Was hoping for a smaller sprinters-field when I send Lay here. I'm still hoping for a stage win. (It has been really long since we got one!)

Sanchez should atleast finish on the podium but with the descent, I'm hoping for more. Also time for Toribio, Blazquez, Valencia to place themselves in the top 10 once.

And maybe one of our two Aker-Norwegians can go in the break one day Pfft

Stage win for Guillen and a good GC-placement for Jumabekov shouldn't be too impossible. Smile

Sanchez to grab this one.

I hope, and believe, that you have underestimated the home team Pfft This is my win goal, so I certainly hope for some magic from Feillu and our local boy, Christer Rake.

A pretty strong sprinters field here, not that these sprinters have anything like the hills ability for GC. A race of two halves, Guillen is probably the most reliable bet for a couple of wins, I would think this could be for Weening to get clear and take that hill stage.

Just here for experience. Any points is a bonus.

Hope for a good result for Scarponi here. He should be capable of winning if everything goes ok, but Weening and Sanchez will be hard.

Think Lasca deserve a mention as well, he should be able to get a top five result on a sprint stage, perhaps mostly the last one.

Were here for the sprints and the sprinters jersey which is a sponsor goal we have to achieve, although the hills may well put pay to that, I hope not Smile

I liked this report. And the fact that Veilleux was quite succsessfull in the break, getting 3rd overall and KoM jersey, I am quite satisfied with the opening stage. Hope he keeps that jersey. Now I should have at least one point and this race should be okay. Pfft

I liked this report until the 2 last photosFrown Dekkers were in a good position and then just faded ... And what a heck Kim Kirchen do? Anyway, i hope we can do just better than todayWink

Nice result from Sutton. Good start.

At least the norwegian weather was quite realistic Wink

It would be better if Lay just followed the Credexbank train instead of forming our own.

12th is ofcourse not good.

It seems like as soon as we left the CT ranks, being led out became a huge disadvantage Grin

Nice sprint by Lequatre. If he can score a couple more of top 8s we will be happy enough.

Hoping for a nice ride from Grau though. The field is strong but we might have our chances.

I feel if we had Clarke in our leadout train, Kankovsky would of had a better chance, it was too much to ask of Papok to do a long leadout. That fall cost us badly today, we will bounce back in stage 2 I hope Smile

Yeah. Another win. Banana

I'm actually glad that a good number of strong puncheurs signed up. This increases the chance that a group of them can drop the sprinters in stage 4. If that happens, Weening should be capable of at least top 3 in overall GC and Furdi top 10. But of course I'm hoping for Weening to live up to his role as favorite and win it.

Stage 5 looks like terrain for Nardin btw.
