The ProTour recently made it's visit to Qatar, with some of the world's best sprinters like Boonen, Bennati or Bewley battling out the Tour of Qatar. But there's three more days of cycling for Qatar this year, as the Cycle Classic will be the 2nd stop of the Crits Series.
Race 1/ Doha Golf Club Criterium
Race 2/ Al Corniche Street Race (Doha)
Race 3/ Al Sheenaya Criterium
You won't be suprised that all races are as flat as flat can be. The Classic kicks off in Doha, at the famous Doha Golf Club. The 2nd day will feature a circuit around the Al Corniche Street in Doha, directly at the Persian Gulf. Expect some wind there. The 3rd and final race will be held in Al Sheenaya, known for it's Oryx Farm.
14 Teams with 5 riders each are invited to this Crit Series. Just like for Herald Cycle Series, 2 African Mixed teams will participate, as well as another African team, Algeria.
As long as enough riders will subscribe, there will also be a team from Greece, plus 2 Russian and 2 Kazakh teams.
From Asia, the following teams/nations are invited: Iran, Mongolia, Uzbekistan and 3 Asian Mixed teams.
All PT/PCT/CT managers are able to nominate their riders. If many managers want to nominate riders for a specific country, I will try to form a well balanced team with riders from several teams. Some managers obviously will have more riders.
The maximum average is 72,99.
2 teams from Russia (Tinkoff, LukOil) would have the chance to start as their own team due to their high number of Russian riders. But to give the managers of other eligible Russians a chance to step in, both teams will only ride in their own colours, if no other Russians are nominated. So nominate your riders in order of priority.
The 2 mixed African teams will contain riders from all over the continent, while we would prefer to see competitive sprinters being nominated.
For the other teams, it's obvious, that Iran, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Algeria and Greece will be kind of National Teams, while the 3 Asian Mixed won't have any restrictions (again, we will try to balance as realistic as possible though).
All managers can nominate up to 5 riders, but as long as we haven't balanced the teams, only 1 or 2 (depends on the team they will ride for) are garantueed to participate.
You have time to nominate your players until Saturday, 9th of February, 10:00 CET. |

I nominate:

Soufiane Haddi -> Mixed African Team
The two have participated in the last round. I don't know if there is some kind of restriction.

Nice, another crit coming.
I am happy to pre-nominate the only two Qatari riders who has some team (but they will suck on this terrain and maybe are stupid to use here, so no problem if they are let off).
Tareq Esmaeli - national TT champ
Ahmed Albourdainy - national RR champ
Shame that russian teams are invited and Ukrainian team, who has sponsor Emirates from this region is overlooked. I dont get connection to Russia actually

Same here with Shishelov, but I guess it's like Avenir, the team loaning in has to.

Adil Jelloul enjoyed his criterium appearences before, and showed himself to be willing to do lead-outs in sprints and go on breakaways as the team instructed.
As ever he is an invaluable domestique in these type of events. We nominate him for one of the mixed African squads.
Our two other riders who could possibly qualify for this Rain margaliot and Tharakit Boonratanathanakorn don't feel they would be of much value to any participating team. They would like to concentrate on working towards their upcoming stage races.

Loanees: The loaning-in team should be the one to nominate, but there's no specific rule anyway.
@Avin: Ukranian riders will get their chance But feel free to nominate two of them, as I may add them if needed.
@ggdonovan: Actually we would love to see a rider taking part at two Crits, as it makes the Overall Rankings more interesting!
