Difference between "hard, normal and easy"
vocalds
I have always played PCM on normal. And I was wondering what the difference is between easy, normal and hard in PCM 12,
Whats the benefits of choosing hard? Smarter AI?

Ian Butler
The AI stays the same.
On easy, your stats have an actual +2 bonus, on normal it's the same. On Hard the AI has a +2 bonus. It's something like that, though I'm not sure about the 2, could be + and -1, too.
So it's just stats, no tactics.

Do you mean hard, normal, easy on the start of a career or are you talking about the level in the option screen?

I didn't know there was a difference. But i guess I mean the difficulty setting at the start of a career.

Ian Butler
If you mean Easy, Normal and Hard at the start of a career, then it's just about your starting money.
Easy: you get more money than your wages are.
Normal: you get money for your wages.
Hard: you get less money than the wages are.

Game difficulty is explained above.

That's the finances, the other one is the stat boost, the difficulty of the game. Finances, easy, the salary cap is smaller than the inittial budget, normal is the same for salary cap and the inittial budget, and hard the salary is bigger than the inittial budget.

For the difficulty in game, easy is -2 for each al stat, normal is the same, hard is +2 and extreme is +5.

That's a shame. Was hoping that the AI was smarter on hard. I often shake my head when I see some of the choices the AI makes during a race. Specially on hilly and mountain stages.

You're going to have to learn how to live with that Wink
Good luck!

That is not entirely true. The AI gets stats boosts on hard and extreme, yes, but it's not in points but in percentage. On hard, the stats of the AI riders are increased by about 2% and by on 4% extreme (I think). You can find it somewhere in the DB and even edit it, for instance to make extreme even more extreme like Pelli did in his Skil story.

The percenatge bonus on hard is 102.5% ( normal is 100% ) and on extreme at 105% wchich can be edited in the edited further.

This can be rounded purely in the terms of stats : Normall is no bonus. Hard is +2 on each stat and extreme +4 on each stat to AI riders That's just easy and rounded number.

For me personally there is no point whatsoever in playing on anything else than "Normal".

If you want a hard career pick a small team. Why pick a good team and make them ride like a small team cause of a pathetic stat adjustment.

could you maybe elaborate on this, i´d be interested in adjusting those percentages a little bit for myself Smile

You might want to ask Pellizotti2 about that. I had a look into the editor myself but I couldn't find the respective table/column.

U might want to take a look at this:

https://pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthread....wstart=200

For me everything below Hard is just too boring even with the weakest Team ever is too easy to win. But if everything u care about is too win everything in an easy way and dont like challenges then u should try normal. Wink

Thanks for the link, will have a look at the local.cdb Smile

So far i´ve played on hard in the mountains and normal in the flat.

I did not know that you could cange the difficulty in the editor. That is a nice feature. But do you have to download an editor or is it standard?

fickman
U have to download an editor. Lachi, Fast.........

As Iguwell said, what's the point? If the difficulty setting is just a matter of stats, why not play with a worse team? Or lower your riders' stats?

It makes sense imo. He might want to continue with the same team because he likes the team/riders. And by lowering rider stats, the AI would react differently to him in some occasions, and perhaps he doesn't want that.
