Hello.
Quite sure nobody knows me anymore. My name is Jan, and I am a pupil in my 11th year from Germany.
(One?) year ago, I already wrote another story for Pro Cycling Manager 2010. This radioshack story, full with my fanboy attitude towards RadioShack and Armstrong, was kinda popular (I guess? Atleast I had some follower :-D). Unfortunately, I lost some of the interest for cycling and started to get lazy, resulting in dropping the story unfinished.
Well, getting into this recently, starting playing PCM again and spending a little amount for PCM 2011 (lol already an old one, now where PCM12 is out).
Im just downloading the PCMdaily DB 2012 and think to start another little story. Guess it won't be as detailed as my earlier one, but I still won't make you wasting time reading this, I will try to entertain readers as much as possible. Hopefully there are still some people interesting in pcm11 story stuff :-D
I just checked some teams and thought of three Options;
- Astana: interesting because of enough leaders, resulting in good GC placings at major Tours, I were kind of a fan of Vinokourov in his Telekom times. It also has quite a good equipe for some hilly classics
- Green Edge: don't know that one, just love this team full of sprinters and old glory, with a lot of old names I remember better than the new ones. I guess a lot of wins and good cobble results should be possible
- Omega Pharma: without Gilbert still an interesting team, VDB for some good results in tours and Greipel for a good amount of wins for the sponsors sake.
Being quite unsure, I would enjoy if you would take the decision for me.
My english sucks, please ignore all the mistakes which might be all over here.

I am still interested in PCM 2011 .
I would go for Lotto - Belisol

I think GreenEdge would be quite interesting, there are not too much stories with them.
EDIT oh and it`s good to see you back after the Radio story.

I remember you. I was actually thinking of you today, as I remembered your Radioshack story, which was very good.
Nice to see you again! I say go for Astana. Go from one legend (Lance) to another (Vino)! He should still have decent stats too

"Quite sure nobody knows you anymore"? Well, I'd believe about the same for the others, but I for sure remember Just the other day I was reading about Paulinho/Machado? (a Portuguese ) solo move in the Dauphine?, which got caught 500m from the line. What a shame, but it was great
As for the story: PCM11 is still very interesting, also because some people are waiting for the last patch/last DBs versions to start a career in 12 I'd say go with Astana. They have quite an all-round team which should be interesting You could add the Olympic RR and try to take it with Vino
Nice to see you back

Thanks for the support guys! Also nice to see some of the people remaining which followed my last one the year ago. :-D
It seems that Astana is already with a huge lead of votes, so depending on my time, I even might get that team presentation online tonight.
Prepare for a new story, this time with another cycling legend which has a team build around him, Vinokourov and Astana!
Luigi, that idea with the olympian RR is amazing! I just dont know how to add races, I never was much in this editing thing :/ |

Wins as professional 66
Most important results
1° Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2005 & 2010
1° Vuelta a Espana 2006
3° Tour de France 2003
5° Tour de France 2005
4 stage wins at the Tour de France 2003-2010
The symbol of the kazakhish cycling had quite a career, as crowd favourite and aggressive rider in his first years getting to a rider "you like to hate". Even with Ullrich and Klöden in one team, he managed to achieve several good results in the Tour between 2003 and 2005, getting him a reputation as possible grand tour winner, which he fulfilled with his victory at the Vuelta a Espana 2006. Founding the Astana Cycling Team, he got caught doped at the TdF 2007. Rejoining Astana after his suspension 2009, he achieved already some wins in the late season. With his victory at LBL, the second place at the Clasica San Sebastian and another stage win at the TdF the following season, he showed that he is still one of the stronger riders in the peloton.
He will lead Astana in the Tour de France, getting supported by Brajkovic, Kreuziger, and Kiverlovski, aiming for a Top10 overall aswell as a stage win, for which he might risk even getting in a breakaway and lose some time. He will be one of the captains (together with Gasparotto and Kreuziger) at the hilly classics early and late season as well, going for Top 5.
Roman Kreuziger
Spoiler
Date of Birth 06/05/1986
Place of Birth Moravská Trebová, Czech Republic
Debut 2006
Wins as professional 10
Most important results
1° Tour de Suisse 2008
1° Tour de Romandie 2009
4° Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2011
5° Giro d'Italia 2011
9° Tour de France 2009 & 2010
Getting the leadership for the hilly classics split with Vino and Gasparotto, he will be the one and only captain for the Giro d'Italia, where he can target the podium and the KoM jersey. He will have to help Vino in the Tour tho, only acting as his lieutenant.
Janez Brajkovic
Spoiler
Date of Birth 18/12/1983
Place of Birth Metlika, Slovenia
Debut 2005
Wins as professional 5
Most important results
1° Critérium du Dauphine 2010
3° Deutschland Tour 2008
5° Tour de Romandie 2010
7° Paris-Nice 2011
Similar to Kreuziger, he has his "own tour", the Vuelta, where he will get full support to aim for a good ranking in the overall, but he has to help Vino in the Tour aswell. Astana also plan to get him in shape for some of the smaller, yet important stage races in the spring, like Paris-Nice, too.
Borut Bozic
Spoiler
Date of Birth 08/08/1980
Place of Birth Idrija, Yugoslavia
Debut 2004
Wins as professional 10
Most important results
1° Stage 6, Vuelta a Espana 2009
1° Stage 2 & 3 Tour of Belgium 2009
1° Stage 1 & 2 Etoile de Besseges 2010
1° Stage 5 Tour de Suisse 2011
3° Paris-Tours 2009
3° Ster Elektrotoer 2009
Too be honest, he can't stand a comparison towards the other riders in this section, however, Astana is hoping to achieve some additional victories in bunch sprints, where we rely on Bozic, Ponzi, Guarneri and Gavazzi. Bozic, as the best of them, will get his chance in the Tour (alone) and in the Vuelta, where he will get a little support. Espescially in the spring, this guy might appear often as captain.

Thank you guys!
Finally back from holidays, lets get into this:
04/01
I had a long talk with Vino today. He announced his retirement for 2013 and plans to end his career with the Chrono des Nations race in oktober. Though that was quite a little shock, he promised me that he's motivated for one last, great season.
This will be interesting for Kreuziger and Brajkovic, as they might get team leader for 2013.
07/01
We expended contracts for Gavazzi, Zeits and Aru, while Kashechkin and Guarneri seems to be popular and want to wait for July, as other teams might sign them.
We wait for some results from Bazayev, Grivko, Valentin Iglinsky and Renev, as their contracts are expiring as well, but we want to give a look at their performance as they have not a sure place for our 2013 squad.

Astana:
Gasparotto and Kiserlovski share the leader's burden here. As we have a little sponsor goal saying we have to win a stage here, they have to ride aggressively and achieve it at the hilly stages. Another hot shot might be Bozic, but with a strong show-up of sprinters, it won't be easy-going to get that stage win in a bunch sprint. Kashechkin and Nepomnyachshiy are supporting the main riders for the hills and the GC, Ponzi will protect Bozic and get him in the best possible position at a sprint finish. Simone might be allowed to ride on his own if he shows himself stronger than Bozic. Muravyev will be supporting the team everywhere, as he is strong in every terrain.
The opponents
This is going to be tough. Riders like Van den Broeck, Kiryienka and Freire might dominate once we are hitting the hilly stages and are strong opponents, though Gasparotto/Kiserlovski might be able to beat them.
As the hilly stages are not that hard and there are way more flat stages, the quantity of sprinters riding here is far more important. With Cavendish, Greipel (who might get the only record winner of the TDU if he wins the overall again), Goss and Freire competiting, it seems like most of the topsprinters are racing here. As the hills are survivable for sprinters, they also might be contenders for the overall.
First stage this night/tomorrow!
