"In my opinion, this could very well end up being the key stage of the Tour! The course is just 157 km long, but it has been designed to promote attacks and comebacks. If a favourite loses three minutes on the previous day's final climb, he will get the chance to make amends on this stage. There is a succession of six climbs, including the Col de la Croix a mere 16 km from the finish. This 3.7 km climb with an average gradient of 9.2% is a terrific launch pad! In short, this course is reminiscent of the one in Les Rousses, where Sylvain Chavanel stole the show two years ago. Back then, Andy Schleck regretted not having scouted the stage beforehand. This time he cannot say no-one has warned him."

Ah, so that explains why there are nearly 10 kms of flat after the descent of the last climb.. to promote attacks, I see.

Well it kinda does. I meant a rider that didn't attack from the first km but a bit further out on the stage.

This is the kind of stage where teams should send their GC guys who have lost 3-4 minutes the last days in the breakaway. Of course, they'll be busy defending their 45th place in GC, so random Frenchies breakaway FTW.

For sure.

Could be a really fun stage if some of the favourites decides to actually give it some colour with attacks. I'm thinking specifically about Nibali and Evans, who both seem pretty strong, although not strong enough to beat the UK Postal duo.

For them, it's a great opportunity to attack Wiggins. Steep climbs with tricky descents - exactly the kind of stuff they like and Wiggins doesn't. Send up the domestiques on Saulcy and then attack on Caquerelle. Then they'll two climbs and two descents to try to drop Wiggins.

Those who fell a few days ago could use today to break away. Some massive names lost a heap of time, so they are now in it for stage wins; and today is one of those ones.

I doubt we'll see much GC attacking tomorrow. (I hope not, I'll miss most of it!)

im going with Froome, 140km long break, 20 min gap at the finish just because it's casual style to do so.

Like last year the KoM jersey is going to be decided on the big climbs that are also stage finishes. Even with this many climbs on the route, I don't think this stage will have any huge impact on the final outcome of the polka dots classification.

A little. 1st categories climbs give 10 point while HC climbs give 25 - that's a huge difference. It will for sure be decided later on, all though this stage can be pretty important in that classification. Nevertheless I think Froome will keep the jersey in the end of the day.

I expect an exciting stage tomorrow. Riders like JVD, Vanendert, Valverde, Rolland, Schleck, Rui Costa and some Rabos need to make some up for their lost time which this stage is ideal for. I really hope to see them up front mixed with the frenchies as Pinot, Voeckler, Chavanel and Moncoutie. I don't think Evans and Nibali will attack, all though it is a good opportunity. I expect them to save energy for the TT.

Love is the air/sky Wink

Sky will probably try to control the pack. A break will, indeed, fight about the stage win tomorrow. However, you never now what's in the minds of riders such Schleck, Mollema, Gesink, Venendert, Martin etc. Perhaps, they will try to make the race hard for Wiggins.

I say Gilbert. The climbs may be too hard for him but he is my favorite cyclist Wink
